Why You Shouldn’t Get Your Watch Polished May 17, 2018
    Show notes

Is your watch scratched up? Here’s why you should and shouldn’t get your watch polished. The watch industry won’t tell you this but I will! I go over approximately how many times a watch (Rolex for example) should get refinished. Why you shouldn’t get it polished too much and what to expect when you do get your watch polished! Also, Team Anchor has reached out to me and mentioned that they want to include the podcast in future ads they’ll be running. Completely stoked to be in the running for that! Age is not a factor in Watchmaking Mar 31, 2018
    Show notes

Age is one of the biggest excuses I get from a lot of people who actually want to start watchmaking. The funny thing about it is that I’ve seen people take up watchmaking at the age of 50, 60, 70, and even 80 years old. Unless you have a serious eye condition, you can still start watchmaking. Why Watchmaking Is A Low Tech Field Mar 11, 2018
    Show notes

Watchmakers like to work. They don’t like to bother with technology. That might have to deal with the fact that watchmaking at it’s core is still a relatively low tech field. Today, we have high-tech machines to complete certain tasks but at the end of the day, everything can be dialed in manually without the use of technology (Hard? Yes. Doable? Certainly). This notion might have something to do with the older generation having something against technology and today’s ever changing innovations. If you pay attention, most of the praises still go to the companies that do everything by hand without relying on a machine to complete the task. In watchmaking, you’ll find that new machinery only compliments what we currently accomplish and create. Just take a look at the Quartz Crisis and you’ll see evidence of where the Swiss rejected the ease and efficiency of technology.
