Show notes
Connor O’Gara and Jim Dunaway are back for Episode 10 of The Connor O’Gara Show, diving into the biggest debates surrounding how we watch — and remember — college football.
ESPN is getting rid of its traditional Bottom Line ticker during college football broadcasts. Is that a welcome change, or will fans miss having scores constantly scrolling across the screen? Connor and Jim discuss the rise of YouTube TV’s Quad Box, second screens and the reality that most college football fans are watching Saturdays much differently than they did a decade ago.
They also debate whether Week Zero is being wasted. Should college football use the opening weekend to showcase marquee matchups and create a massive television event instead of treating it like a soft launch to the season?
Then the conversation turns to ESPN’s upcoming six-part Nick Saban documentary. Jim, who spent years hosting Saban’s weekly show, shares insight into Saban’s approach to player psychology and why the series could reveal a fascinating side of the legendary Alabama coach.
Plus, which college football stories deserve their own documentary? The guys make the case for an uncensored look at Cam Newton, Auburn and the chaos surrounding the 2010 national championship season, along with the unbelievable rise and fall surrounding Ed Orgeron and LSU’s historic 2019 championship team.
Topics include:
• ESPN eliminating the Bottom Line ticker
• YouTube TV Quad Box and multi-screen football Saturdays
• How college football viewing habits have changed
• Why Week Zero needs bigger games
• Nick Saban’s upcoming ESPN documentary
• Jim Dunaway’s experiences covering Nick Saban
