Show notes
Alabama football is back, and Last Call is breaking down everything surrounding the Crimson Tide’s season opener against East Carolina at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
How will Kalen DeBoer, Ryan Grubb and Alabama handle an ECU team coming off a nine-win season and a Military Bowl victory? And with the heat index potentially reaching 110–111 degrees in Tuscaloosa, could the weather become one of the biggest stories of Week 1?
The guys dive into the biggest Alabama football questions entering the opener, including Keelon Russell’s first start at quarterback, expectations for the Crimson Tide offense, the competition along the offensive line, Alabama’s running back depth and whether the Tide can establish the physical running game they’ll need once SEC play arrives.
They also discuss Alabama’s wide receiver room, the importance of explosive plays in Ryan Grubb’s offense, what the Crimson Tide need to learn from these early-season “tuneup” games and why the first two weeks could be critical before Alabama faces Florida State.
Plus, the conversation expands to the biggest controversy in college football: LSU, the SEC and the push to bring former professional players back into college football. Could the ongoing dispute lead to unprecedented action from the SEC? And what does the situation say about the transfer portal, NIL, player movement and the increasingly chaotic free-agency era of college football?
