"Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes" May 09, 2020

Show notes

For this week's main podcast review, I am once again joined by Josh Parham & Dan Bayer and together we are completing the "Planet Of The Apes" reboot trilogy with this 2014 installment (which also fits nicely into our 2014 retrospective) "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes." Once again starring Andy Serkis, Toby Kebbell (who receives a much more substantial role as the film's memorable antagonist) and being joined this time by a human cast comprising of Jason Clarke, Keri Russell and Gary Oldman, this is a sequel which truly expands on the first film in all of the best ways. Listen to our review and hear our thoughts on how we think this film has held up over the years and how it fits in with the rest of the trilogy. Recently re-released as a part of the Criterion Collection and winner of 4 Academy Awards, how does the film hold up on a re-watch? Here to discuss it with me is Nicole Ackman, Josh Parham & Dan Bayer. Also be sure to check out our other 2014 reviews of "Selma," "Ida" & "Foxcatcher." "Bad Education" May 02, 2020

Show notes

For this week's main podcast review, I am once again joined by Josh Parham & Dan Bayer but this time we are talking about a television movie! "Bad Education" premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and was acquired by HBO where it will now be competing for the Emmys instead of the Oscars as a television movie. Directed by Cory Finley ("Thoroughbreds") and starring Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney in excellent roles, the film depicts the true life story of the Long Island public school embezzlement scandal from 2002. "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" Apr 25, 2020

Show notes

For this week's main podcast review, I am once again joined by Josh Parham & Dan Bayer to continue our Saturday "podemic" series of reviews. This week, we're discussing the 2011 reboot to the "Planet of the Apes" franchise titled "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" starring Andy Serkis, James Franco, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto & David Oyelowo. Not only is the film fitting for this week's discussion but we plan on reviewing its 2014 sequel "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" in two weeks time as a part of our 2014 retrospective. What do we think of this film though nearly a decade later? How do the visual effects hold up? Why doesn't Andy Serkis have an Oscar yet? Tune in to hear us discuss one of the most underated action films of the last decade. Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on...
