The Snowman - Movie Review Oct 20, 2017
    Show notes

Jay and Terrence sit down to discuss the newly released crime thriller, The Snowman. Based on the novel written by Jo Nesbø, the film follows a drunkard detective named Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender) as he tries to figure out why women are ending up dead in Oslo, Norway by someone who goes by the name the Snowman killer. Leaving small clues and snowmen in the wake of his murders, Hole races to put the pieces together to find the killer. Working with the gorgeous backdrop of Norway, the film tries desperately to convey a sense of Scandinavian emptiness in the same vein of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series. However, due to rush production and poor translation of the source material, it seems to fail in every regard.

    • Michael Fassbender as Detective Harry Hole
    • Rebecca Ferguson as Katrine Bratt

    Marshall - Movie Review Oct 13, 2017
    Show notes

Jay sits down to discuss his review of the newly released ‘Marshall’ starring Chadwick Boseman, Josh Gad, and Sterling K. Brown. The film chronicles a little-known case of Thurgood Marshall (Boseman) in which he is tasked to prove the innocence of Joseph Spell (Brown) who is accused of attacking and raping a white woman he works for during the height of the Civil Rights movement. Marshall is forced to join up with local Jewish attorney Sam Friedman (Gad) to prove that this case is far more complex than anyone truly believes. The film is directed by Reginald Hudlin, and takes a sharp look at not only the era in question but one of its greatest heroes from a perspective not yet explored. Blade Runner 2049 - Movie Review Oct 09, 2017
    Show notes

Jay and Brad sit down to review the 30+ years in the making sequel, ‘Blade Runner 2049.’ Starring Ryan Gosling as K, a Blade Runner who is tasked to “retire” old replicants is suddenly thrown into a new case that might just destroy the fabric of the modern society. Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario), the film works to expand the story and world of the original 1982 ‘Blade Runner’ but also forge its own ground. Villeneuve is able to recapture the feel of the original film but modernizes it to fit his own lush aesthetics. Gosling’s K teams with the original Blade Runner, Rick Deckard, to solve a question that brings the sci-fi genre back to its roots of questions of existentialism and what it truly means to be human. Cast: Ryan Gosling Harrison Ford Jared Leto Robin Wright Ana de Armas Mackenzie Davis Sylvia Hoeks Dave Bautista Budget: $150-$185 Million Video Version of Review: here

    Gerald's Game - Movie Review Oct 04, 2017
    Show notes

Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, Gerald’s Game is a film that plays more like a survival drama than a classic King horror story. When Jessie and Gerald Burlingame leave the city to go to a remote cabin to rekindle their problematic marriage things go a bit off the rails. Gerald (Bruce Greenwood) decides that the way to put the spark back into their marriage is to try having sex while using handcuffs to restrain Jessie (Carla Gugino). Bruce, unfortunately, has a heart attack and dies leaving Jessie restrained and no access to call for help. The film really gets moving the second Jessie is pushed into this race against time scenario for her life. Struggling to deal with the realities of her newfound situation, while balancing her thoughts of what put her there make for a suspenseful ride. Kingsman: The Golden Circle - Movie Review Sep 22, 2017
    Show notes

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the follow-up to the wildly popular Kingsman: The Secret Service directed and co-written once again by Matthew Vaughn. The Kingsman universe lives somewhere between James Bond and Austin Powers, with a bit of almost superhero level action sprinkled in for good measure. Starring Taron Egerton once again as the young charismatic spy Eggsy. Egerton is joined by Colin Firth, Mark Strong, and Sophie Cookson all reprising their roles from Kingsman: The Secret Service. They are joined by the Statesman, the American version of the Kingsman, lead by Jeff Bridges, Pedro Pascal, Halle Berry, and Channing Tatum. The two teams have to come together to take on Julianne Moore who plays Poppy Adams, the head of an organization called “The Golden Circle.” Taking the best of what worked in the first film, and cranking them up while leaning heavily into the world that director Matthew Vaughn has created (based on the comic “Secret Service” by Mark Millar) makes for one of the more fun films this year. Balls to the wall action, well-placed comedy, and over the top international spycraft is a great combination this is ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle.’ Video Version of Review: here Cast:

    • Taron Egerton as Eggsy
    • Colin Firth as Harry Hart
    • Julianne Moore as Poppy Adams
    • Mark Strong as Merlin
    • Halle Berry as Ginger Ale
    • Pedro Pascal as Jack Daniels
