When we released our Patreon subscriber exclusive episode a few months ago and asked our listeners what veterinary questions they wanted to have answered - there were countless questions about bleeding and Lasix usage. We decided to have an entire podcast focused on that topic alone for all of our listeners and here it is!
Dr. Melissa Fenn is an internal medicine specialist at Littleton Equine Medical Center and we have personally had horses go through her treatment and knew she was the perfect person to discuss this topic with. Around the barn its called bleeding, but Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage is a battle most barrel racers deal with and it's a hot topic on the best way to manage, treat and prevent it. We value and appreciate Dr. Fenn's time and sharing her knowledge with us on this episode and hope you learn as much as we did.
As always with these types of episodes, our goal is to share education on the topic but please always refer to your veterinarian for treatment for your horses.
A few months ago Kayla made a Facebook post congratulating our giraffe training, Switzerland native, best friend on her Lone Star Shootout Derby championship - and everyone thought she was joking. We weren't! Our guest this week is Dani Buhler who not only trains giraffes but is also pretty good at training barrel horses with a resume that includes a college national finals qualification, and just last October, a $50,000 payday at the Pink Buckle winning the reserve derby championship title. We think you will see Dani and her great mare "Yeti" in the results a lot, and now you can know more about the hurdles they have overcome to get to where they are today. Thank you for listening!

Crystal Shumate has created a standout barrel racing breeding program based out of Florida. Her program focuses on mares that she has won on and the 3.5 million dollar sire BHR Frenchies Socks. Crystal has created a world class breeding program that focuses on quality over quantity while also working as a nurse and competing herself. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to talk to Crystal and hear some behind the scene stories from For the Fame Farms and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
This weeks episode is a follow up to our first episode of the year about the Barrel Racing Industry Alliance, or BRIA. We followed up on your questions from the last episode, discussed what QData and EquiStat can do for all programs, what black type pedigrees are really all about, and the hopes for the future of our industry, with BRIA member representatives Lainie Whitmire and Robin Glenn. We'd love everyone to share this episode with all producers out there - the more the merrier.
Amber Moore - also known as Amberleigh Moore in the rodeo world - just came off some big wins in the Northwest Futurity run including champion and reserve champion futurity titles at the Sand Cup. This is a great conversation about her background growing up in the Northwest, the story of her million dollar winning mare CP Dark Moon who qualified 4x to the National Finals Rodeo including a 15th place to Reserve World Champion jump in the standings in 2016 and now what Amber is doing with her next generation of superstars. This is a fun one we know you will enjoy!
Here is the second half of the conversation with Billy Myers that covers the bigger picture of how our industry is evolving, even a little cross over about the team roping industry and how the entire western industry is moving in a great direction - the future is bright!
Breeding Season is in full swing and we thought it was perfect timing to talk about one of the most legendary breeding programs in the western industry. We had the chance to talk to Billy Myers of Myers Performance Horses about basically everything that goes into having a top program. From the history of Frenchmans Guy and Myers Ranch to broodmares and stallion selection, 2 year old sales and the future of the industry. In fact, we talked about so many different things, we decided to break this into two episodes for you! Look for "Part 2" later this week!
Cally Kindred is a Badlands Circuit cowgirl with four generations of family history in ranching and raising high quality performance horses. Her family owns the great TR Dashing Badger - who we all know as Dolly and they now stand her full brother TR Illuminator Cash. Cally is a Badlands circuit qualifier in barrel racing and her experiences in a real world ranching family makes her down to earth and humble about her successes. From competing on the rodeo road to raising horses, from running a business to standing a stud and selling embryos - we covered just about every topic you could hope for!
We have had many listeners request a Rodeo 101 podcast - so here you go! We had the chance to talk to Jimmie Tew right after her win at Tucson to talk about all things rodeoing.
These are all questions our listeners have asked and we hope you enjoy some real insight to the rodeo road! Jimmie is an NFR qualifier and former Rookie of the Year and Kayla is a Mountain States Circuit Finalist who also won Rookie of the Year for her circuit so you get two different insights to rodeoing - whether you want to go for the NFR or if you just want to make your circuit finals! We hope you enjoy!
