    Ep 76: Stop Overbuying Aug 23, 2021
    Show notes

Let’s be real. Have you ever bought something in bulk, perhaps in an effort to save money, and ended up not using it or ran out of storage space to contain it all?

It happens! Even with the best money and time saving intentions.

Has your garage turned into your backstock area with mountains of stuff on shelves or maybe you’ve lost track of stuff you overbought because it got shoved into storage closets or deep cabinets never to be seen again?

Also happens. I’ve uncovered lots of this stuff as an organizer and have been guilty of overbuying and tucking things away too.

On this episode we’ll get to the bottom of why this may be happening and how to prevent it from costing you in the long run.

    Highlights from this episode:

    {2:28} Using what we have

{3:29} Out of sight out of mind

    {6:41} Overbuying leads to overkill

Ep 074: Label Your Stuff Aug 09, 2021
    Show notes

Getting organized and now you're at the part where you choose to label your containers or opt out completely?

On this episode I’m talking about all your options! There are almost endless ways to identify what’s tucked away in your opaque bins and woven baskets like clip labels of every color, dry erase labels, adhesive stickers, custom labels, label-maker labels with multiple fonts and simple or fancy borders!

You may choose to label your clear or colorful bins with a chalk pen, Sharpie, crayon, or stencil. Maybe you even label the drawer or shelf on which the container will live? You could also be the rebel or minimalist, who completely opts out of a label if you think it’s unnecessary.

I’ve fallen into all of these categories at different times! You have to choose the style that works best for you, and there’s no right or wrong here. Just make sure that if you’ve made the effort to organize your stuff, you know what is where and how much of it you have! Labels are a great way to do that.

    Highlights from this episode:

{2:13} Make sure your containers are serving you in the best way possible

{4:04} Why you might NOT need to label something

{7:46} Why you WOULD label your stuff

    {8:58} I love chalk pens

    {12:16} Find your style

    {15:24} Make sure you measure!

{18:41} Find the right labeling solution for each bin or container

{19:25} Labels make it easy for others to find their way around your home

{22:17} Get your kids to label their own things

Ep 073: Less Is More Aug 02, 2021
    Show notes

If you ever feel like your stuff is taking over, the kids lose interest in their toys quickly, or your cabinets and closets are bursting at the seams, perhaps it’s time to own less.

I’m a big believer that having less actually gives you more! When you have less items to clean up, wash, organize, and find a place for, you gain precious time back in your day and physical space to enjoy as well.

You may also find that the value of your stuff goes up when you have less. You appreciate what you have more and this can lead to some lovely mental peace as well.

On this episode I discuss these thoughts further and suggest ways you might consider intentionally choosing to have less, so that you gain so much more in time, space, experiences, and the overall health and well-being of you and your family!

    Highlights from this episode:

{2:13} The importance of the essential purge

{5:00} Clutter takes up physical and mental space

{8:37} Request gift substitutes on party invites

{11:00} Make a conscious effort to put things away

{12:44} Getting organized to make the tidying easier

    {14:24} Stop overpacking your suitcases

{16:59} When you feel overwhelmed, go back to The 3 E's

    Mentioned on this episode:

Ep 072: Hiring an Organizer Jul 26, 2021
    Show notes

Of course, this month’s Hiring Help Series wouldn’t be complete without talking about the many reasons to hire a professional organizer for your home!

This just so happens to be my passion. I love using my 3 E’s Philosophy to get the organization process done in just 3 simple steps, because who has time for more than that?!?

When you choose to hire a professional organizer, they can take the stress and overwhelm out of getting your home to serve you best, while focusing on your particular style. Having that person or team come into your space and see all your clutter or little secrets (we all have them…even organizers) can feel a little scary!

The transformation, however, is totally worth the investment and can transform so much more than your home. It can be life changing!

    Highlights from this episode:

    {3:16} Hiring a handyman recap

    {5:04} Hiring a housekeeper recap

    {6:06} Hiring a sitter recap

{12:02} An organizer does more than just organize
