    Ep 069: Hiring a Handyman Jul 05, 2021
    Show notes

Starting out the Hiring Help Series in the month of July, I’m talking about the benefits of hiring a handy person to help with jobs in your home!

If you’ve been putting off stuff you want to get done for any reason, like you’re too busy, too tired, don’t want to, feel unable to do it, or feel guilty about asking for help because you think you should be doing it yourself, then ask yourself if it’ll ever get done.

Is it worth all the stress and frustration of the constant reminder that you haven’t checked that thing (or multiple things) off your to do list?

Having my handyman come over a couple of times a week or month to do odd jobs that I put off or can’t do on my own has been such a huge relief mentally and physically. Whether it’s changing out hardware, outlet covers, paint, or light fixtures for a fresh, updated look, or mounting shelves in my laundry room and bikes in the garage for a more organized aesthetic, the jobs are getting done way faster than if I tried to do them all myself. That’s worth hiring someone who knows what he’s doing so I can spend my time focusing on the things I enjoy doing!

    Highlights from this episode:

{0:57} It's ok to ask for help

{4:49} Don't let the little tasks weigh you down

{8:34} How to find a handyperson

{11:45} A handyperson is handier than you think

{15:28} What's the worst that can happen?

{18:32} Don't be afraid to make requests

{20:50} The little things can make a big difference

{28:28} Don't leave jobs half done

{34:10} It is definitely ok to hire somebody

Ep 067: Simple Organizing Strategies Jun 21, 2021
    Show notes

Inspired by some recent guests in my home, I decided to do a recap of some of the simplest strategies I use to stay organized.

I’ve shared how my 3 E’s Philosophy is something I default to in my own home, in my client’s, and when setting any other goals I want to accomplish. The idea is to simplify everything so it doesn’t become so overwhelming and stressful that it never gets done. My 3-step strategy, focusing on your Essentials, Enhancements, and Extras will help you purge the clutter, sell or donate your unused items, and then put the proper organization bins in place.

After you’ve spent that time, effort, and possibly money on getting organized, I share how to keep it that way by organizing on autopilot!

    Highlights from this episode:

{2:55} Keeping everything in its place

{6:33} Creating a positive environment for guests

    {10:09} The 3 E’s

    {12:35} The purge

    {14:54} Don't over organize

{18:01} Your style has to work for you

{19:38} Sell / Donate unwanted items

    {24:53} Keep it simple

    Mentioned on this episode:

    Ep 1: The 3 E’s Philosophy

Ep 2: The Cost of Disorganization

    Ep 3: Organize on Autopilot

    Ep 7: The Essential Purge

Ep 063: Give Yourself More Credit May 24, 2021
    Show notes

Are you giving yourself credit for all the things you are accomplishing each day that never even make it on your to do list?

For example, did you give yourself credit for stopping your life to bandage a skinned knee, kiss a boo boo, give a hug, call to check on a loved one who is lonely, remind your kiddos every day to brush their teeth so they don’t get cavities, give them a bath to teach them good hygiene, have a much-needed, good belly laugh when life gets crazy, or put down your phone to have a serious conversation with your kid about something that happened at school that day?

Oh, you didn’t put that stuff on your to do list??? Of course, you didn’t, but those things can be way more important and valuable than doing laundry, the dishes, answering emails, or attacking that mail pile.

How about acting fast to grab your toddler that bolted toward the street to get a bouncing ball…did you put “save my kid’s life” on your to do list today? I’m guessing, no. How about the follow up conversation you had about never running into the street because it’s so dangerous?

It’s so easy to look at the lack of check marks on your list at the end of the day and feel like you should’ve done more, but PLEASE, Mama, don’t forget to give yourself more credit for all the other stuff you did that will never be a box you check on your list.

You are amazing! You are doing plenty! So as we celebrate Moms in all of their bath-giving, life-saving glory this month, don’t forget to give yourself some serious props for all that you do!

    Highlights from this episode:

{2:32} The guilt free to-do list

{3:30} Celebrating accomplishing the things that we'd never put on our to-do lists

{9:37} Consider that the things not on your to-do list can be more important than the things that are.

{11:42} Recognizing the life lessons and conversations we have with our children as accomplishments

{16:26} What we learned about ourselves during quarantine

{21:19} What your kids will remember as they grow up

    {22:38} Creating beautiful memories

    Mentioned on this episode:

Ep 48: Embrace Your Love Language

Grab a printable PDF of The Guilt-Free To Do List in my Online Schedule Course that’ll remind you all the things you ARE accomplishing each day. It’s crazy how reframing your thoughts around that ole ‘to do list’ can really help you feel better about what you are getting done!

Ep 062: Move Your Body May 17, 2021
    Show notes

When was the last time you did something for yourself? For me, this looks like prioritizing workouts. I used to be great at this. I did yoga, Pilates, Soul Cycle, dance classes, major organizing jobs that counted as cardio and weightlifting and didn’t hesitate to hire a personal trainer when I needed that extra accountability.

I can easily get distracted by all those important Mom life things and find that another week or month has gone by, and I never really prioritized a physical workout. Can you relate?

This episode is a friendly reminder to spend some extra time on yourself. If that means a workout for you, but finding the time or money to make that happen feels overwhelming, simplify it! Just decide to move your body intentionally. If that’s 30 minutes of push-ups and stretching, going for a walk with your neighbor, or hiring a boxing trainer to whip you into shape, then go for it!

Here’s where I tell you I’m totally obsessed with boxing now because I hired a trainer. I needed the accountability, and boy did I get it! Stay tuned for a boxing video montage that will surely follow this episode.
