    Show notes

Chrissy Khalil, a busy mom of littles, who runs restaurants with her husband and keeps an organized home filled with love and teamwork, still manages to make it to bible studies and helps me run the school Bake Sale! She’s a SuperMom for more reasons too.

On this episode Chrissy shares with us a powerful message of faith and what life looks like after the loss of her beautiful son, Christian. It’s appropriately airing on Memorial Day, as Chrissy and her family continue to honor the short life he had here on Earth.

Her healthy, twin, angel baby showed no signs or symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes until one Saturday when he got sick and passed away just a couple of days later.

Chrissy is committed to sharing her family’s story in hopes of helping others detect this disease by a simple urine test or finger prick, even if there’s no genetic history. She has given us some Diabetes warning signs in the link below.

I’m in awe of her faithfulness and positivity through it all! Please support my dear friend and inspirational SuperMom at her restaurant in Venice Beach, Teddy’s Red Tacos! They are still safely serving the community through the Coronavirus pandemic and available for catering. Find this link below as well.

    Diabetes Warning Signs

Please be aware of the following warning signs of Type 1 Diabetes, even if there is no genetic history, children could still be at risk. A simple urine test or finger prick can determine if you or your child has Type 1 Diabetes by checking blood sugar level. Most pediatricians do not test for the disease under 5 years old, but if you are concerned, ask for testing.

Signs and Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes:

    • Increased thirst
    • Frequent urination
    • Wetting the bed in a child who has previously had good nighttime bladder control
    • Unintended weight loss
    • Extreme fatigue
    • Sudden changes in vision
    • Unusual irritability
    • Increased appetite
    • A fruity odor on the breath
    • Heavy or labored breathing

I hope this information will help make people more aware of this disease and can make a difference in someone’s life.

Ep 010: Reclaim Your Space with Amy Pendergraft  May 18, 2020
    Show notes

Is it time to reclaim your space that’s been taken over by clutter, toys, paperwork, or just extra bodies because of all this quarantining?

Well, my guest and sweet friend, Amy Pendergraft and I, talk about how we did just that. As a client of mine we got to create a restful oasis for her a couple of years ago, that actually inspired one of my favorite chapters in my book I called ‘Legos in the Bedroom.’ This definitely brought up some laughs and a relatable feeling of overwhelm that can happen when the kids’ stuff has taken over your personal space!

We also discussed how her family is making their space work well for them, while currently homeschooling and working remotely, with individual work stations and school supply baskets.

Not only did we get real about organizing her space one simple step at a time, we shared how this interesting time is calling us to recalibrate and be more patient than ever.

Amy kindly offers a timely message about patience and trusting God when things are uncertain. I needed this episode so much, and I’m sure you will find hope, encouragement, and some organization motivation here!

Be sure to checkout her new daily devotional she’s been working on as well. They are thoughtfully crafted and sure to be a hit with your family!

Here are the highlights from this episode:

    {1:25} Introducing Amy Pendergraft

{4:16} What faith means to Amy especially during these times

    {8:37} How to be patient

{13:14} The importance of reclaiming your space

{17:23} How Amy claims her space during these times

Ep 009: Happy Mom’s Day with Teresa Cannon May 11, 2020
    Show notes

On this very special Mom’s Day episode, I had the privilege of interviewing my Mom, Teresa Cannon. Not only did we get to reminisce about some fun memories and share life lessons we’ve both learned over the years as moms, but we also discussed some topics that many of us are facing in the wake of the health pandemic today.

Mom gives us some helpful advice about homeschooling and finding educational inspiration outside of school books. She encourages us to give ourselves grace and find the blessings in the extra time we have with our kids right now.

She also talks about how she created and organized a family business in her own backyard that was inspired by some of her favorite self-help, business books and her medical background. That story had me dreaming up ideas for a future family home-improvement business with my kids too!

This episode is packed with realness, wisdom, laughs, and constant encouragement, much like my childhood.

Keeping a tidy, organized home, not being afraid to ask for help when I need it, and following my passion while parenting has been a way of life for as long as I can remember. I’ve simply followed the example of my Mom and my Dad. Their solid work ethic, commitment to serving others, and devotion to their kids are incredibly motivational. I hope this episode motivates and inspires you as much as it did for me!

Thanks, Mom, for everything. “Love, love and all that stuff!”

To the beautiful, busy moms out there, thanks for listening and happy Mom’s Day!

Here are the highlights from this episode:

{2:39} Introducing an exceptional guest: Teresa Cannon

{5:33} 1st Mom’s life lesson: “You don't have to know everything”

{8:51} 2nd Mom’s life lesson: “When you decide something, you make it happen”

{15:49} 3rd Mom’s life lesson: “Your home is a reflection of you”

{17:53} 4th Mom’s life lesson: “Ask for help”

    {20:27} 5th Mom’s life lesson: “Just relax”

{25:11} How she started her own family business

Ep 008: No Such Thing As Balance with Kelly Mobeck May 04, 2020
    Show notes

If the struggle to find balance in your life ever causes you stress or anxiety, I have great news! My dear friend and business coach, Kelly Mobeck, is on this episode busting the myth that we should be striving for balance in every area of our lives. Say WHAT?!? In 2016 she blew my mind when I asked her to speak at our church’s MOPS meeting (Mother’s of Preschoolers), so I had to have her be my first podcast guest! I had heard her speak before and appreciated her directness. That day she truly changed my life! She inspired me to stop the mental struggle and allow myself some grace. In this episode she shares this concept that changed everything for me. Kelly says there’s no such thing as balance, but we should shoot for harmony! Additionally, she explains how communication, establishing agreements, and considering how other people’s ‘wins’ can contribute to this harmony. I’m telling you, this is a MUST LISTEN for the busy mom, who is ready to push past ‘mom guilt’ and create a life of more peace and less struggle. You’ll find that her words are compassionate, supportive, and motivational in getting you to take the lead in your life! For more outstanding coaching and words of wisdom checkout her newly launched podcast ‘Let’s Be Honest Before We Start Pretending!’ on iTunes, Spotify, and her website www.kellyjmobeck.com

You can connect with her through email at Kelly@KellyJMobeck.com or on Instagram @coach_kellymobeck. Enjoy this special crossover episode that is also on Kelly’s new podcast as Episode 2.

Ep 006: Maximize Your Vertical Space Apr 20, 2020
    Show notes

On this episode I discuss ways you can organize a small space, display your items that are both useful and sentimental, and make the most of an unused wall.

All of these tasks can be accomplished by learning to maximize your vertical space!

Whether you are reimagining a linen closet, sharing a space and must consolidate, or needing to mount a hat collection or sports gear, I've got a solution! From floating shelves to gallery walls, Command hooks to canvas mounts, permanent built-ins to customizeable FastTrack systems, you'll feel more prepared to create the vertical organization that fits your style.

Find these options in-store or online at Target, The Container Store, Home Depot, Walmart, Michaels, Marshalls, Amazon, Etsy, and other hardware or craft stores.

I'd love to see how you've designed your vertical space, so send me photos or tag me @everythingwithstylemom in your social posts so I can celebrate your organization wins with you!

Ep 005: Hashtag Pantry Goals Apr 13, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode I’m discussing how you can use those 3 E’s to organize and style a pantry that’s both functional and beautiful! As always, purging the clutter is ESSENTIAL! I’ll suggest what to get rid of or “debox.”

Next, ENHANCE your pantry organization by selling or donating any unused items you’ve pulled from this space.

And finally, the EXTRA boost your pantry might be missing is styling it with the proper containers that’ll work best for everyone in your family. I’ll recommend my favorite organizers from divided lazy Susan’s (sorry Susan!), canned food shelves, baskets or bins that fit your personal style, and more. Implementing the 3 E’s in one of the busiest areas of your home will keep you from wasting food and money, being ill prepared when it’s time to grocery shop or meal prep, and causing a disastrous accident if your little ones try to reach something that’s inappropriately placed! You certainly don’t want that to happen. So if you’re tired of hunting for ingredients in the far back corner where your food goes to die, maybe it’s time you tackled this space. And who knows? By the end of this week, you could be staring at a beautifully organized cupboard and posting pics to social media, where everyone will be commenting #pantrygoals!

Ep 004: The Unjunky Junk Drawer Apr 13, 2020
    Show notes

What does the multitasking SuperMom need at a moment’s notice to be prepared for anything in her home? A fully functioning junk drawer! This is basically the equivalent of a Mary Poppins carpetbag of tricks, but the only way this junk drawer works best is if it’s “unjunky.” Yes, that’s a word! On this episode, you’ll hear my advice on how to keep your junk drawer organized, what to keep in it or be kept elsewhere, and which room in your house it will probably serve you best. From pens to tape, bandaids to batteries, spare keys to personalized name tags, and everything in between, we’ll make sure that unjunky junk drawer is earning you some major cool mom points the next time someone shouts, “Hey, Mom, I need a ...!”

Ep 003: Organize on Autopilot Apr 13, 2020
    Show notes

Ever feel like your organization efforts have been in vain? Maybe you put in the initial effort to get rid of the clutter, put your items in the proper bins that look nice, or tried to rework some spaces in your home after searching all the popular DIY PINTEREST pics? Then a week or month after the new improvements were made, it’s a mess again? Sure! We’ve all been there! So how can you get back on track of living an organized life? And how can you make it stick this time? Learn to ‘organize on autopilot!’ In this episode I’ll suggest some practical strategies to make getting and staying organized feel as familiar and simple as driving the kiddos back home from school. You won’t have to think about every little step, because you’ll simply be living an organized life automatically!

Ep. 002: The Cost of Disorganization Mar 31, 2020
    Show notes

With only the best of intentions, I’m discussing a sensitive subject on this episode. When we are shouldering lots of responsibility from caring for our kids, supporting a spouse or family member, additionally working outside the home, or trying to juggle the social and spiritual parts of our lives, even the most organized mom can let things fall through the cracks. Just like the dentist pushes on those cavities so we can feel the pain points and know for certain that they need some extra attention, I’m going to press in on some potential areas that might need some work too. It turns out these sensitive spots could be costing you. Have you ever noticed that you incur late fees on bills because you’ve misplaced them or they got lost under a mountain of mail piles? That can lead to guilt, unnecessary stress, and even arguments about money management. What about a lack of prioritizing things in your schedule or failing to properly set up your space so that getting out the door on time doesn’t have to be such a struggle? Are you letting your family, friends, or coworkers down because you can’t seem to get organized or stay that way for long? There’s definitely a cost of disorganization, but it doesn’t have to be that way anymore! Living a life we want to be living sounds amazing, so let’s find ways right now to make that possible! If getting organized has been on your to do list for a while now, it’s time to make it happen. A great first step to getting there is asking for help. Talk to your spouse, your kids, a therapist, your pastor...or your pastor’s wife. Get a coach, or a trainer, or an organizer! Don’t try to do everything alone. Just because we can do it all, doesn’t mean we have to. Let’s clear the clutter to see the blessings God has for us.
