This is part two of last week’s episode. We talk about the fact that all behavior actually occurs for a social purpose. We, as humans, are decision making social beings whose main goal in life is to belong. Each of us ultimately wants to find and maintain a place of significance in our lives. We try to find beliefs and feelings and behaviors that we think might help us gain some significance, or some belonging.
Also on this episode, we talk about the four main reasons for misbehavior. Misbehaving children are discouraged for reasons that we have to figure out as their mom. They do not believe they can belong in useful ways, so they try to belong through their misbehaviors.
This is powerful information, because once we discover the goal of our child’s misbehavior, we are then in a position to begin redirecting our child for the better.
