Michael Bryson went missing from a campground near Dorena, Oregon, on Aug. 5, 2020, during a party. He was 27 at the time. It's reported that Michael wandered away from the campsite sometime around 4:30 a.m. Some report he was upset when he left, although it's unclear why.
He was last seen by his parents, Tina and Parrish, on Aug. 3, 2020, when he stopped by their house before heading to the party at the campground.
In December 2020, some of Michael's clothes were located, but Michael was nowhere to be found.
Tina and Parrish started the Michael Bryson Foundation after he went missing to bring awareness to missing people and mental health and drug addiction.
A Facebook page, Let's Find Michael Bryson, has more than 24000 members, and I highly recommend checking it out to find more details about this case.
If you know anything about Michael Bryson's disappearance, please contact them or the Lane County sheriff's office at (541) 682-4150, option 1, and reference case No. 20-5286. You can also get in touch with Michael's parents through the Facebook page "Let's Find Michael Bryson."
I talked to Michael's parents right before the third anniversary of his disappearance. Here's my conversation with Tina and Parrish Bryson.

Twenty-eight-year-old Bernard "Bernie" Grempel went missing on May 14, 2021. That evening he took the SkyTrain from Surrey to New Westminster before boarding the 340 bus to North Delta around 11 p.m. No one has ever determined if he got off the bus or where.
He's 30 years old, 6' tall, and has a slim build, curly brown hair and brown eyes. I talked to his older sister Ettie Shurack who is searching for her Brother. His family is offering a $50,000 reward for anyone who can help bring Bernie home. Shurack also manages a Facebook group called "Bernard Grempel is Missing," where you can get up-to-date information in their search for Bernard. After two years of searching, Shurack worries about her Brother and says he is a well-liked and popular member of her family and community.
If you have seen Bernard or know where he is, please call the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477. This is my conversation with Ettie.

In April, I did an episode on Thomas Stephen Blake, who went missing from Big Spring, Texas, in early August 1987. Tom was a truck driver, and after he went missing, his big rig was found idling with a whole load of onions in a rest area several miles from Big Spring, where Tom was last seen. Inside the truck, police found his cigarettes, I.D. and other personal items.
Tom was with a woman at the time who was also missing. In April, I spoke with his sister Linda. In Part 2, I speak with her husband, Jim, who is a former police officer and had some valuable insight into drug running on the U.S.-Mexico border, and whether Tom might have been involved in something like this.

In this second episode, I talked to private investigator Brent Campbell who Autumn's family hired to investigate the case. Brent walked me through the timeline leading to Autumn's death at Green Lake. He also explained the numerous mistakes and errors police made when investigating, including poking holes in the police's suicide theory.
If you have any information or tips to help the investigation, please call the Seattle Police's Homicide Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.

In this first episode, I talked to Autumn's friends and family about the days and weeks leading up to her death. She was in a new relationship and had fallen head over heels. She soon became engaged and pregnant. But weeks after she had her second child, something sinister occurred: Her second child was injured, and she was distraught. She needed answers and to find out what happened. She planned to meet her fiancé at Green Lake and confront him.

FIRST FULL EPISODE COMING IN LATE MAY.
---
In the late afternoon on August 30, 2019, in an otherwise sunny and pristine summer afternoon, a body was found floating in Green Lake, a popular recreational and park area in northern Seattle. When police arrived, they pulled a woman from the water. The woman was 23-year-old Autumn Lee Stone.
She had a vest zipped up to her neck. Underneath the vest, shoelaces were tied around her neck, like she had been strangled. She was fully clothed, but her shoes were missing. At the time, the first responders thought it looked suspicious. But when detectives arrived, they quickly started telling the public it was likely a suicide and in just a few weeks, her case was closed.
Immediately, friends and family didn't buy it. Questions began to formulate: How do you kill yourself with shoelaces? How did her body get into the lake? Why was she at Green Lake in the first place? The questions mounted. The police initially remained adamant that there was no indication of defensive wounds or foul play. Then in 2020, the Seattle Police Department suddenly re-opened Autumn's case.
It's been almost four years since Autumn died, and the family is still awaiting justice.
This is the Death of Autumn Stone, a multiple-part series.

On April 24, 1980, three-year-old blonde curly-haired Jeffrey Dupres headed out the door of his home in Slave Lake, Alberta, to play with his friend Rodney, who lived nearby. He was wearing a long-sleeved beige shirt with brown trim and rust-coloured pants. Jeffrey had flat feet and was wearing dark brown orthopedic shoes as a result.
At around 1 pm, after Jeffrey said he would play with Rodney, his mother, Denise, went to transfer a load of laundry from the washing machine to the dryer. The window was open, and a few minutes later, she heard Rodney’s dad call out for him to come inside. When Denise looked out the window a few minutes later and didn’t see either boy, she assumed they had gone to play inside Rodney’s house, just next door.
But roughly 20 minutes later, Rodney showed up asking for Jeffrey. Something wasn’t right. Denise called the police around 1:45 pm, and within hours, hundreds of volunteer searchers flooded the smoke-engulfed town to search for Jeffrey. But despite these efforts, he’s never been found.
Private investigator Anna James, who works for Recover Agency and on Jeffrey’s case, came on the podcast to talk about what may have happened to Jeffrey and how we, the public, can help.
I encourage you to visit the “What happened to Jeffrey Dupres Facebook Page” to see regular updates on the case. Denise has also started a Go Fund Me to support an investigation into the matter, and if you can support her, it would greatly appreciated. I’ll link both in the description and Anna’s contact info if you can provide any information.

35-year-old Robert McLaughlin, also known by "Royal Francis and "Rob Francis," went missing from Jacksonville, Florida, on September 25, 2017. Robert was last seen in his apartment sometime around 10 pm. He left behind his personal belongings, including his wallet and ID, and his car was also left at his building. Robert has a gold tooth, a chipped right tooth, and tattoos on both his arms and is said to have had a full beard and was wearing a black shirt and shorts around the time of his disappearance. He's about 5'10 and 210 pounds. A few years before his disappearance, Robert was in an accident that left him with a severe head injury that impacted his short and long-term memory.
I was able to get a hold of Robert's former roommate Bella. Bella is close friends with Robert, who lived with him in Florida at the time he went missing. She has since moved back to the Netherlands but continues to search for what happened to her friend. In 2020, Bella started a podcast titled #findrobfrancis and detailed the information she knew leading up to his disappearance. Bella came on the show to talk about Robert, her podcast, and what may have happened to her musically gifted friend.

Traverspine was a small village in Labrador which was a fur trading post in the early 20th century but is now a ghost town. To this day, you'd be hard-pressed to find it on a map. I had never heard of Traverspine, but immediately upon reading about it, it reminded me of Portlock, Alaska, which I covered in a Halloween special in 2021.
In Traverspine, local wildlife biologists and trappers reported finding strange tracks in the woods; sled dogs went missing, and children reported seeing a large animal appear in and around the edge of the village, lurking amongst the trees. But nobody could identify what it was. A gorilla? Some type of bear? A demon? A Yeti or some skin-walker type witch?
Adam Shoalts took off into the remote, rugged and occupied wilderness of Labrador with a companion to try and unearth what haunted and stalked the town of Traverspine and hoped to unravel the mystery once and for all. What he experienced was incredible, educational and downright hair-tingling.
Enjoy my chat with Adam!

Lonene Ray Rogers, 29 years old, went missing from her home in Hayfield Township, Pennsylvania, on January 7, 1981. That evening she got into an argument with her husband.
Later that night, her husband woke up and realized Lonene was not in the house. Lonene left behind her hearing aid, eyeglasses, medication, car, and other personal items. She also left her two young children. The evening she went missing, there was a severe snowstorm.
After Lonene's disappearance, her husband, who is also deaf, placed their young daughter, Alison, for adoption. She is now grown and is attempting to revive the investigation into her mother's disappearance. Alison was generous enough to come on the show and talk with me about her mother's disappearance and her life's journey.
I encourage you to check out the Justice for Lonene Facebook page and Alison's book about her mother and her life titled "A Daughter's Journey," which is available on Amazon.

Today on the show, I have the incredible Heather Shtuka. If you listened to my series on Ryan Shtuka, you know Heather is Ryan's mother. Since her son went missing in Sun Peaks in February 2018, she has searched tirelessly for answers on where Ryan might be. This year marks five years since her son disappeared without a trace. Heather was gracious enough to spend hours talking to me about Ryan when I did my series back in 2020.
In addition to being a mother, Heather is an advocate and an incredible human being. She is now also a bestseller. Her new book "Missing from Me" chronicles her despair, grief, and perseverance while trying to find answers to what happened to Ryan. Her book, released last fall, was a number bestseller on Amazon books in memoirs, momentarily surpassing the likes of Matthew Perry and Dave Grohl.
I recently connected with Heather, and she was gracious enough to take time out of her day to talk about her new book; here's my chat with Heather.

Throughout the 1920, 30’s, and 40’s strange things happened in a small, oceanside town on the Alaskan Kenai Peninsula known as Portlock (Port Chatham). Portlock was a seemingly quiet cannery town. But people started to go missing while others were found seemingly brutally murdered or killed. Rumours began to circulate of a large yeti like creature stalking the woods. There were reports of man-like tracks 18 inches in length. People claimed to see and hear a wailing spirit, wandering the woods. I spoke to Brian Weed to try and find some answers.
Check out Brian's Facebook Group, "Juneau's Hidden History".

Halloween is here! I know it’s been awhile since you’ve had some content from this show so I am happy to say, in light of my favourite time of year, I have a couple of one-off episodes to share with you. In this first Halloween special I sat down with friend and author Shanon Sinn to talk about a resident Vancouver Island phantom ship, the Valencia. We also talked about folklore in general and the new book Shanon is working on. I hope you enjoy our conversation.
You can purchase Shanon's first book, "The Haunting of Vancouver Island", here.

Hello listeners of The Missing and Unexplained Podcast! I have a new podcast titled "True to the Story". Don't worry! The Missing and Unexplained Podcast is not going anywhere. In fact, I am currently doing research for season 3 which I am hoping to release later this year. True to the Story is just another vehicle for me to tell stories not entirely linked to missing persons or crime. You can subscribe to True to the Story where you get your podcasts, including iTunes.
True to the Story is a new podcast dedicated to long-form storytelling, with each season telling a true narrative. In this first series I look at the war in Afghanistan and the interpreters who served alongside the Canadian Armed Forces.
From 2001-2014, over the course of 14 years, more than 40, 000 Canadian soldiers participated in the longest war in Canadian history. Now in 2021 many of these Canadian Afghan war vets are fighting a different fight: Their fighting to get these same interpreters who helped them in Afghanistan to safety in Canada. This is the story of these interpreters, the crucial role they played in helping the Canadian Armed Forces, and their ultimate journey to try and seek shelter in Canada...
Episode 1 will be coming in the following weeks. You can check the social media pages below for regular updates:

With the storm of the decade headed towards the Pacific Northwest and Washington State, Kris and other hikers hesitated on whether to continue hiking the PCT. Ultimately, Kris was determined to hike Washington state in its entirety. After re-supplying in Packwood, on October 12, 2016, Kris started out on the trail near the White Pass trailhead and seemingly vanished into the woods.
Thank you to Pickles, Sally, David, and Aaron who chatted with me for this episode.

In this second episode I look at Kris' time on the PCT. We hear from a Korean film crew that interviewed Kris and I talk to someone who, upon meeting Kris, was immediately drawn to him.
I want to thank Colin, Amber and, of course, Sally for letting me talk to them for this episode.
If you know anything about Kris' disappearance, please contact the Yakima County Sheriff's office at 509-574-2500.

In this first episode I explore Kris' life prior to deciding to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). I chat with his stepmother, Sally, about Kris' childhood, and chat with Jeff, one of Kris' best friends, about his time in school and university. Ultimately, a major shift in Kris' life prompts him to start planning to hike the PCT with his friend Colin.

On Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016, 34-year-old Kris Fowler set out the Pacific Crest Trail, a 2,653 mile hike stretching from Mexico to Canada, all through the west coast of the United States. But on October 12, with less than 400 miles to go on the trail, Kris, who had stopped in Packwood Washington for supplies, set off to resume the PCT near White Pass in the Cascade mountain range. Kris was hoping to get ahead of a brewing storm, one that people would later claim was the biggest Washington State had experienced in decades. As other hikers left the trail to wait out the inclement weather, Kris, in his sandals, set off into the dense Washington wilderness and seemingly vanished into the thick wilderness of the Pacific Northwest.

Today I have Marissa Jones on the show who is the host of The Vanished Podcast. The Vanished is not only one of my favourite podcasts, but was one of the inspirations in starting the Missing and Unexplained Podcast. In my opinion, it is the best podcast out there that focuses on missing persons. It was my pleasure to chat with Marissa, enjoy our conversation.

Today I have Jon Walczak on the show who is an investigative journalist and hose of the Missing in Alaska Podcast. I sat down with Lorna Ferguson who is a Ph.D. Student in the Sociology department at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, is the Founder of the Missing Persons Research Hub, and is the Book Review Editor for Police Practice and Research: An International Journal. Lorna has a broad interest in policing research and developing evidence-based approaches to policing and crime prevention, including issues related to firearms and social media use. Currently, her research focuses on police responses to missing person cases. We had an interesting chat about her research and how academics and podcasters can collaborate better.
