Your Social Duty Jul 27, 2020
    Show notes

Welcome to the 1st Minute Monday episode, a quick dose of motivation to kickstart your week. In under five minutes, I aim for a minute of impactful content. The only rule: take action. Today's inspiration is from Marcus Aurelius, emphasizing the power of selfless giving. Act without expecting, help without attachment, and success will follow naturally.

Carry this mindset into every aspect of your life and business. The key is to give without keeping score, ensuring your happiness and success, irrespective of external responses. Remember, the essence is to give and forget, allowing surprises if kindness returns. Use this mantra for a focused and fulfilling week.

If you find yourself losing focus, revisit this episode. Share it with someone who could benefit. Until next Monday, remember to put these principles into practice. Love you all, and see you soon!

Turning Your Story Into Your Greatest Business Development Tool w/ Jesse Krieger Jul 24, 2020
    Show notes

In today's discussion, Jesse and I outline a straightforward approach to transform your story into a powerful business asset—your own book. We introduce a strategic process for creating impactful content, emphasizing its versatility for various formats.

Our course, "transformational.marketing," is designed to enhance your book's global impact by bridging the gap between your audience's current state and the book-writing journey. We stress that this process isn't just about publishing but about refining your story for comprehensive marketing.

George shares his unique approach to incorporating books into videos, highlighting that writing is just one avenue for creating content. Jesse simplifies the book-writing process, focusing on a content framework and a structured chapter format, making it accessible for everyone.

The approach involves addressing the "before state" of your clients, outlining your business framework, and providing a smooth transition for readers. By sharing stories, presenting key points, and offering actionable steps in each chapter, authors can efficiently create a well-crafted manuscript with momentum.

How to Change Anyone's Mind - The Catalyst Jul 22, 2020
    Show notes

I introduce Jonah Berger's book "The Catalyst" and emphasize the impact it had on my career. I highlight the importance of finding books that make a lasting impact and mention how "Contagious" was a catalyst for my success. I share my thoughts on a section from "The Catalyst" that discusses confirmation bias in marketing.

The section explains how people resist change, counter-argue when persuaded, and even resist information when not being persuaded. Confirmation bias plays a significant role in how individuals interpret information based on their existing beliefs. I provide examples from the book, illustrating how people perceive scientific research differently based on their preexisting beliefs.

I delve into the concept of the zone of acceptance and region of rejection, emphasizing that marketing messages often fail due to different states of mind and journey stages. I relate this to understanding customers deeply and tailoring messages to fall within their zone of acceptance. I suggest ways to combat biases, including finding the movable middle, asking for less, and switching the field to find an unsticking point.

I apply these concepts to business partnerships and marketing strategies, urging listeners to meet their customers where they are and incrementally move them closer. I announce upcoming changes to the podcast format, introducing Monday minutes for quick thoughts, Wednesday episodes for tactical strategies, and Friday episodes for interviews and storytelling. I encourage listeners to share their thoughts, questions, and guest suggestions.

I conclude by emphasizing the importance of subscribing, reviewing, and consuming the podcast content while putting the advice into immediate practice. I reinforce the idea that the podcast works for the audience if they actively use the tools provided. I sign off with a reminder that relationships always beat algorithms.

How To Make Your Marketing UNFORGETTABLE w/ Social Triggers Jul 20, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode, the focus is on social triggers and their role in marketing, drawing from insights by Derek Halpern and Jonah Berger. Berger identifies five triggers—education, credibility, controversy, humor, and social status—and emphasizes that content sharing is not luck but a result of aligning with these triggers.

Social triggers are defined as elements that prompt associations between individuals or businesses and specific thoughts or feelings. Examples, such as Nike's "Just Do It" and brand associations with product categories, illustrate the prevalence of social triggers in daily life.

The episode highlights the power of triggers in making content shareable and memorable, citing the Mars candy company's sales surge during NASA's Mars Rover coverage as an example.

The distinction between making and riding social triggers is explored, with examples like Nike's creation of "Just Do It" and the speaker's consistent posts about bacon.

Consistency and congruency are emphasized as crucial for leveraging social triggers effectively, with the episode concluding by encouraging businesses to understand core messages, align with triggers, and stand out in the information landscape.

Overall, the episode provides valuable insights into the psychology of marketing and the role of social triggers in building memorable, shareable content.

Today my friend Eliya is joining us today to talk about her story and the power of storytelling! It's probably one of the most underutilized topics that I see in the world of business, entrepreneurship or life, since we're humans, we emote and we relate with stories!

The Primary Job Of EVERY Marketer Jul 13, 2020
    Show notes

Today's episode is all about my second marketing law, and it's a game-changer. I used to struggle by creating what I thought people wanted, but the key is to listen intently to what the customer actually wants.

Most marketers make the mistake of assuming customer needs, but we need to meet them where they are and understand their fears and desires. Pay attention to their words and actions, ask open-ended questions, and use their exact language in your marketing. The goal is to lead them from their current state to their desired outcome, using their terms. This week, focus on observing and understanding your audience on a deeper level.

The #1 Law Of Marketing Jul 10, 2020
    Show notes

In marketing, I've identified seven key laws, and the first is fundamental: everyone should feel valued, whether they buy or not. It's about helping people, not just chasing credit cards.

Think of Apple – their stores are open for experiences, not just sales, and it works. Providing value without immediate payment builds trust, creates advocates, and taps into the 86% impact of word-of-mouth marketing. Your content should offer meaningful value where your audience is, without pushing for clicks or purchases. This approach transforms customers into long-term supporters.

Committing To Your Practices & Routines Jul 08, 2020
    Show notes

So today's episode is going to be fun because I'm going to whip out all the skeletons in my closet today! We're talking about committing to your practices and about how to not completely destroy any chance you have at success in business - or life in general.

I've spent a lot of time, money, and energy doing the work, discovering what was under it, and where it came from. And then I spent a lot of time doing the work to understand how to prevent it from happening. Even if I don't recognize that it's coming by doing certain things in my life that don't allow it to happen. And that's what I'm gonna cover today.
