The Metal Forge - 328 - Tower May 23, 2025

Show notes

New York City’s band Tower has embarked on their third studio album, **Let There Be Dark**, which showcases their heaviest and darkest sound yet. The lead single, **“Under the Chapel,”** features an Eastern-inspired riff and is influenced by a Yiddish lullaby, reflecting a nightmarish vision of the current world.

This album marks a shift from their previous rock influences to a pure metal focus. Recorded between October and December 2024 with renowned producer **Arthur Rizk**, the band benefitted from a close partnership, leading to a polished and cohesive sound. The band has also welcomed new drummer **Keith Mikus** and reunited with original bassist **Philippe Arman**.

The cover art, designed by **Jared Fleming**, resembles an ancient book and prominently features a serpent, symbolizing themes of civilization and history. As Tower approaches their tenth anniversary in 2025, they express a feeling of growth and maturity, both as musicians and individuals, emphasizing their willingness to take creative risks.

Show notes

DMR Books has carved a niche in the literary world by specializing in fantasy, horror, and adventure fiction that pays homage to the legendary authors of the pulp era, such as Robert E. Howard and Clark Ashton Smith. With a commitment to preserving the spirit of these classic writers, DMR Books seeks to transport readers to realms filled with thrilling escapades and spine-chilling tales. Each publication is a testament to the rich tradition of storytelling that has captivated audiences for generations, ensuring that the legacy of these iconic genres continues to thrive. In addition to showcasing contemporary cutting-edge action and adventure fantasy fiction, DMR Books prides itself on unearthing and reprinting obscure works that have long been forgotten. These hidden gems offer readers a chance to explore narratives that may have slipped through the cracks of mainstream publishing. By bringing these stories back to life, DMR Books not only honors the past but also enriches the present literary landscape with diverse voices and imaginative plots.Http://www.dmrbooks.comJo Gamel, Rock Goddess extraordinaire Jo Gamel is a multidisciplinary artist based in Philadelphia, whose creative journey is deeply rooted in the therapeutic aspects of art.
