Show notes

Thrash Metal band from New York City. We play simple songs about drinking, fucking off, and drinking. We keep it light, we play in E standard, and we like to Over Do it.

Flexing is a part of metal, especially Thrash Metal. Hailing from New York - Rot Box is here to crank hoons and eat gas station sushi and not have any regrets. "Bandsaw" Tom Megill is with us and we are having a blast!

The Metal Forge - 396 - Perennial Quest Sep 11, 2026

Show notes

Perennial Quest is an 84-time Grammy winning, multi platinum power thrash band from Everett, Massachusetts. Formed in 2015, they set out to bottle their inherent chaos into some of the fastest, most technical, party time excellent power thrash this side of the Atlantic.

Releasing their first demo Warriors Through Endless Time in 2017 and following it with their self-titled EP in 2020, Perennial Quest quickly proved that fast fingers and a controversial chrome logo could still hold its place in the modern era of heavy metal. They impress before even playing a single note by fitting seven people on a stage that struggles to hold four.

After tours up and down the East Coast and through Midwest in 2023, original vocalist Tony DiBiase would get married, buy a house, and take himself out to the metaphorical pasture in 2024, making way for Zebah Latifi (Ice Howl) to step into the role in early 2026.

A new voice and a new era await as Perennial Quest valiantly sets forth on another Midwest tour before unleashing their first full length LP in early 2027.

(Oh and they opened for Sugar Ray that one time.)

The Metal Forge - 395 - Alpha Destroyer Sep 04, 2026

Show notes

ALPHA DESTROYER is a high-octane collaboration featuring Martin Sweet (Crashdïet), Kelly LeMieux (Buckcherry), and Eric Sexton-Dorsett (Sleepless). The band dug deep into the annals of KISStory to put their own unique stamp on the song. Guitarist Eric Sexton-Dorsett explains. "We based our version on Paul Stanley's original demo version instead of the Bob Ezrin produced version everyone knows. Paul used 1/16 note high hats and a more upbeat tempo. We swapped those for double basses a la 'Exciter' from Judas Priest. Paul also used a more pop sensibility and falsetto vocals in the chorus, which we embraced fully." @Necromanticpress Official Links:Bandcamp: https://alphadestroyer.bandcamp.com/album/fast-laneMetal Archive: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Alpha_Destroyer/3540571210Passionate about metal? The Metal Forge - 394 - Argul Aug 28, 2026

Show notes

Argul is a doom metal band formed in 2014 in Lima, Peru, by Mauricio Guerrero and Jose María Venturi.

Influenced by stoner and 60s rock, with heavy and prog elements, shaping a slower, heavier, and more introspective sound it's defined by dense riffs and a darker emotional weight and atmosphere.

The primordial is wrapped in a gloomy heaviness.

The essence is the obscure and the inevitable

The Metal Forge - 393 - Brad Frye Aug 21, 2026

Show notes

Brad Frye is known as the owner of Desert Records, founder of Red Mesa, and half of the duo Droni Eye Omi.

In the spring of 2025, Brad Frye set out to self-record his first solo album.

Armed with a Reverend baritone guitar, a Fender Champ tube amp, a solar powered generator, and a pedal board, Frye hiked out to remote locations around Albuquerque, NM.

Frye set up a Zoom H6 recorder to capture the ambient natural sounds of the New Mexican landscape. Birds, trains, rivers, wind, insects, and animals are heard throughout the songs.

Drone meets spaghetti western.

Partially composed, but mostly improvised, this is hypnotic and mesmeric instrumental electric guitar music.

100% recorded outside in the high desert….

…A love letter to New Mexico.
