    The Mental Healness Podcast

Welcome to the Mental Healness Podcast, hosted by yours truly, Lee Hammock. If you’re new here I have NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) and I’ve been in therapy for the last 8 years learning how to deal with it and live a better life. From the start I’ve offered you the rare POV of a diagnosed narcissist but NOW I’m switching it up a little bit. I’m interviewing others that are dealing with their own mental health journeys and those that have dealt with toxic relationship dynamics as well. I’m still sharing my POV just sharing others as well. Collabs ✉ partnerships@mentalhealness.net

    Show notes

Can everyone in a family be a narcissist or deeply toxic? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how harmful family systems can operate through loyalty, secrecy, isolation, enmeshment, blame, and pressure to protect the family’s image. Learn why someone who marries into the family may slowly be pulled into its rules, why relatives may turn against you after a breakup, and why leaving can feel like divorcing an entire system. This discussion also covers toxic family enablers, family scapegoating, and the importance of recognizing patterns before they destroy your peace. Healing may require boundaries with more than one person

Why Do You Keep Choosing Unhealthy Partners and Relationships!? Aug 30, 2026
    Show notes

Why do some people keep choosing toxic, narcissistic, or emotionally unavailable partners? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how childhood patterns, trauma bonds, familiar dysfunction, love bombing, low self trust, and the hope of finally being chosen can shape relationship choices. You may not be attracted to pain itself, but you might be drawn to a dynamic that feels familiar or that promises validation. Learn how to recognize these patterns, rebuild your standards, and choose relationships that feel safe instead of chaotic. Healing is not about blaming yourself for the past; it is about giving yourself better options moving forward. All My Links (Coaching, Courses, Merch): https://link.me/mentalhealness

Why do abusive people want to hurt you on purpose? Aug 28, 2026
    Show notes

Why do abusive people hurt you on purpose, then blame you for the pain they caused? In this video, Lee Hammock explains how control, punishment, shame, resentment, emotional immaturity, and the need to feel powerful can drive intentional cruelty in toxic relationships. Learn why an abuser may target your insecurities, dismiss your feelings, provoke reactions, or hurt you right when you need support. Their behavior is not proof that you are unlovable or that you caused the abuse. Understanding the pattern can help you stop internalizing their choices and protect your peace.

What REALLY Happens When You Go No Contact With a Narcissist Aug 26, 2026
    Show notes

What happens when you go no contact with a narcissist or toxic ex? In this video, Lee Hammock explains why no contact is a boundary for healing rather than a way to punish someone. Learn about common reactions including denial, anger, accusations, love bombing, hoovering, and panic when they realize they no longer have access to you. Lee also explains why breaking no contact can restart the cycle and make it harder to heal. If unwanted contact escalates into stalking, harassment, or threats, prioritize your safety and seek local support.

Hayden Panettiere’s Story Shows How Toxic Relationships Trap You Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

Hayden Panettiere’s story has renewed difficult conversations about domestic abuse, toxic relationship cycles, family estrangement, and the complicated reasons people stay connected to harmful people. In this video, Lee Hammock discusses documented reports about Panettiere’s on-and-off relationship with Brian Hickerson, who pleaded no contest in 2021 to two felony counts involving corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, as well as the public estrangement between Panettiere and her mother, Lesley Vogel. This is not a claim that either person caused Panettiere’s death, which remains under investigation. Instead, it is a conversation about recognizing toxic patterns, protecting yourself, and extending compassion to people caught between harmful relationships. If you are experiencing abuse or feel unsafe, contact local emergency services or a domestic-violence resource.

    Show notes

Why do you miss a narcissist or toxic ex even when you know they hurt you? In this video, Lee Hammock explains the inner conflict between logic and emotion after narcissistic abuse, including self-gaslighting, trauma bonds, and the urge to break no contact just to make the pain stop. Healing is not always pretty, quick, or easy, but it becomes possible when you stop chasing shortcuts and begin trusting yourself again. This video offers encouragement for anyone trying to leave, stay no contact, and rebuild after a toxic relationship.
