    The Mental Healness Podcast

Welcome to the Mental Healness Podcast, hosted by yours truly, Lee Hammock. If you’re new here I have NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) and I’ve been in therapy for the last 8 years learning how to deal with it and live a better life. From the start I’ve offered you the rare POV of a diagnosed narcissist but NOW I’m switching it up a little bit. I’m interviewing others that are dealing with their own mental health journeys and those that have dealt with toxic relationship dynamics as well. I’m still sharing my POV just sharing others as well. Collabs ✉ partnerships@mentalhealness.net

Why Narcissist can bring up the past but you can't Apr 04, 2026
    Show notes

"A narcissist has a 30-second statute of limitations on their own mistakes, but a lifetime contract on yours. Today, I’m explaining why we weaponize history to avoid accountability."

    In this video, we discuss:

    • The Deflection Loop: Why bringing up your past is a narcissist's favorite "get out of jail free" card.

    • The "Old News" Shield: How we use time to make our own toxic behavior seem irrelevant.

    • Leverage vs. Resolution: Why the goal isn't to fix the problem, but to make sure you're the one on the defensive.

    • The Narrative Lock: How keeping your mistakes alive allows the narcissist to maintain the "Moral High Ground."

Why I don’t hate my narcissistic father Apr 03, 2026
    Show notes

"Forgiveness isn't about him; it's about the weight I'm tired of carrying."For years, I carried a lot of anger toward my father. He was emotionally neglectful, shut off, and displayed the classic traits of a narcissist. But as I’ve done my own healing, I’ve realized where that "emptiness" came from. My father was just a child when his own dad committed suicide, and he never got the help he needed. He didn't learn how to love because he was too busy trying to survive the trauma.Today, I’m talking about breaking the cycle. As a diagnosed narcissist myself, I can see the "shutter" that came down on his soul. I’m breaking down why I choose compassion over hate, and why understanding his trauma doesn't excuse his behavior—but it does set me free from the resentment.

Why narcissists are the perfect reflection of you Apr 02, 2026
    Show notes

"The person you fell in love with was actually just a better version of yourself."It’s the most painful realization in recovery: the 'soulmate' you think you lost was a manufactured character. Today, I’m taking the mask off to explain the "Representative"—the fake persona narcissists use to hook you—and how we use mirroring to make you fall in love with your own best qualities.

Why Narcissists PAY for Intimacy Apr 01, 2026
    Show notes

Most people assume this behavior is just about the bedroom, but for a narcissist, it’s a calculated move to avoid the one thing we fear most: Vulnerability. Today, I’m taking the mask off to explain why transactional dynamics are the "perfect supply." When you pay for a service, there are no expectations, no "mirror" reflecting our flaws, and a guaranteed discard. In this video, we discuss:The Power Dynamic: Why being the "Customer" is a narcissist's safe space.Avoiding the Mirror: Why real intimacy feels like a threat to the False Self. The Built-In Discard: Why narcissists love a relationship with an expiration date.Validation on Demand: The dopamine hit of "purchased" admiration.

The conversational narcissist: why they always shift the focus back to themselves 🗣️🔄 Mar 31, 2026
    Show notes

"They aren't listening; they're just waiting for their turn to talk."

Have you ever shared something personal, only for the other person to immediately say, "That reminds me of the time I..."? That is the Shift Response. Today, I’m breaking down conversational narcissists. As a diagnosed narcissist, I’m telling you why we do this. It’s not just "bad manners"—it’s a calculated way to regain the spotlight and ensure we remain the main character of every interaction.

How to know if narcissists are actually changing Mar 30, 2026
    Show notes

"Is it a breakthrough, or is it just better acting?"

The most common question I get is: "Lee, can narcissists actually change?" The answer is yes, but it doesn't look like a Hallmark movie. It looks like a long, painful, and often ugly process of self-control. Today, I’m breaking down the difference between a narcissist who is "performing" therapy and a narcissist who is actually changing their brain chemistry.

We’re talking about Consistency vs. Intensity, how to test for real accountability, and why "therapy speak" is the new favorite weapon for narcissists in 2026. If you’re waiting for a sign to stay or leave, this Live is for you.

    In this Live, we discuss:

    • The Consistency Test: Why a "good week" means nothing compared to a "boring year."

    • Weaponized Therapy: How narcissists use their therapist’s words to gaslight you.

    • The Accountability Check: Can they sit in the discomfort of being "wrong" without a blow-up?

    • Pro-Social Shifts: Moving from "I want to hurt you" to "I want to protect my life."

    • The Relapse Reality: Why "perfect" is a red flag and "stumbling" might be a good sign

The nicest guy: how the Ronnell Agee case exposes the neighbor narcissist 🏠⚖️ Mar 29, 2026
    Show notes

"The most dangerous monsters don't look like monsters—they look like the guy who mows your lawn." Detroit is in shock today over the Ronnell Agee case. Neighbors are on camera saying he was "the nicest guy we’ve ever known" and that "this can't be his character." But as a diagnosed narcissist, I'm telling you: that "nicest guy" brand is exactly how we hide in plain sight.Today, I’m breaking down the Neighbor Narcissist Mask. We’re looking at the Ronnell Agee kidnapping case to understand why narcissists build a reputation for being helpful and friendly. It's called a Proximity Shield, and it’s designed so that when the mask finally slips, the community refuses to believe the truth.

What type of narcissistic supply are you? Mar 28, 2026
    Show notes

Ever wonder why narcissists keep you around even when they don't seem to like you? It’s because you’re serving a specific purpose on the "Supply Menu." Today, I’m breaking down the different categories of supply—from the bank account to the bedroom and everywhere in between. As a diagnosed narcissist, I’m giving you the unfiltered truth about how we categorize people. We’re talking about financial supply, ego boosts, the "placeholder" (transitional supply), and even the people who provide "negative supply" through chaos. If you’ve ever felt like an object instead of a person, this Live is for you. Let’s figure out what you’re providing so you can finally stop serving it up.

Why You're Attracted To Narcissists Mar 27, 2026
    Show notes

"Your brain is literally wired to fall for the vain narcissist."A groundbreaking 2026 study has revealed that humans mentally categorize narcissists into two distinct groups: the Vain and the Selfish. While the "selfish" face is easy to spot and avoid, the "vain" face is a trap. We often mistake vanity for competence, success, and leadership potential.Today, I’m breaking down the science of why we find certain narcissists irresistible and how their "agentic" mask makes them perfect for corporate management and high-status dating. As a diagnosed narcissist, I’m telling you the truth about the "Competence Trap" and why your brain chooses to ignore the red flags when the mask looks this good.
