The lesser know Leopold Brothers originally started as a beer brewing operation, but has recently made waves as a distillery. For this #Fryeday, we explore the George Dickel x Leopold Brothers collaboration rye. This break from exploring bourbon (in favor of rye) is accompanied by a discussion of a recent car chase in Kentucky, a shoutout to @thatoneduderyan, and a story about one of the first times that Michael, Anthony, and Steven hung out and tried George Dickel 13 year BIB. E060 - Early Times BiB Bourbon Apr 08, 2022
    Show notes

Sometimes you wanna go back, way back, back into time. In 2017, Brown-Foreman dipped into the past and resurrected the old style Kentucky bourbon brand, Early Times Bottled-in-Bond. This bottle quickly became a favorite value bourbon of the masses. But, is it worthy of that distinction? Recently, the brand was sold to the Sazerac Company and its left us wondering if it will continue to be a favorite value bourbon for years to come or if it will become allocated? Join us this week as we talk about family pictures in a cemetery, a local hyped bourbon release, and what it would be like to drink bourbon with Abraham Lincoln. Also, we discuss “not so impressive” master distiller tasting notes and question our very own existence.

    E059 - Willett Family Estate 4yr Rye Whiskey Apr 01, 2022
    Show notes

Nestled in the hills of Bardstown, Kentucky, the Willett Distillery is picturesque and many of the whiskies are highly sought after — especially those purple tops. Historically, Willett’s reputation has been built upon the fact that they have some amazing aged stock that they acquired from various distilleries. However, Willett has been producing their own bourbon and rye since 2012. This week, we take a look at the Willett Family Estate Bottled Four Year Rye. Even though these “green” top bottles are slightly less sought after, they are definitely more available. For this week, we discuss RTDs, bourbon drinking in the summer, The Bar at Willett, and bourbon jealously. Will the four year Willett rye impress or be relegated to “pot still status?” You’ll have to listen to find out…
