Life in the Peds ER Dec 23, 2018

Snot, sutures and dirty diapers. Who in their right mind would sign up for such a thing?!?! Well...me! I did. Because I know that I am going to have to deal with little ones and their germs for the rest of my career, I decided to take a Peds EM elective so that I could be more comfortable dealing with them as patients. With 3 weeks already completed, I'll talk about some of the insights that I have gained, as well as some key pointers that I will be able to take with me in future rotations.

I talk about my struggle with depression during medical school that seemingly came out of nowhere and how I was able to get back into my normal routine to get gain back my normal physical and mental health.

In my 2nd (or 3rd) semester of med school I was at a workshop that talked about time management and study skills. Being in school for as long as I have, I've heard most of general principles before, but there was one thing that afternoon that caught my attention. After going back to my study spot, I noticed that one of the biggest study pit-falls that I had fallen into because I didn't really think it was a big deal. Turns out I was wrong.

In this episode, I'm going to talk about the potential magnitude of picking up your phone "just for a minute" while studying and what those ripples can translate to when it comes time for finals.

I have finally made it to my 4th year of med school and I am loving every minute of it. Unfortunately, that wasn't always the case. There have been moments where I was worn thin and pushed to my limits. In this episode, I share an experience that completely changed my outlook on my clinical experience and it has made a world of difference.
