    Longhorn Republic: October 27, 2022 - Men's Basketball Preview Oct 27, 2022
    Show notes

Basketball season is right around the corner and the Texas Longhorns are hoping to take a big step forward in Year 2 under Chris Beard. Some familiar names are no longer roaming the Forty Acres, with Andrew Jones and Courtney Ramey moving on to their next destination, but that doesn’t mean it's a total rebuild for Texas. The Longhorns bring back Marcus Carr, who will likely see his role change in the backcourt with the addition of Iowa State transfer Tyrese Hunter joining him at guard. The frontcourt will look familiar to Texas fans, with Timmy Allen, Dylan Disu, Christian Bishop, and Brock Cunningham returning, joined by highly-touted freshman Dillon Mitchell. So what are fair expectations for the Longhorns, once again playing in a Big 12 conference that seems to be head-and-shoulders above the rest of the conference? Longhorn Republic: October 25, 2022 - Texas Blows a Lead to OSU Again Oct 25, 2022
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns went into the second half with a lead against the Oklahoma State Cowboys and again came away with a frustrating loss. On the road in Stillwater, Texas struggled to maintain its discipline and composure in a hostile environment, while the offensive playmakers couldn't seem to get on the same page. Quinn Ewers played his worst game in Burnt Orange, which put a damper on a career day from running back Bijan Robinson. Defensively, Texas managed to get off the field on third downs, but quick turnarounds and a lack of second-half production from the offense put them in a hole they couldn't get out of. So now, as they head in to the bye week, Texas has a lot of questions to answer in the hopes of putting together a strong back quarter of the year and finishing on a high note. Winning is Hard: Road woes for the Longhorns continue in Stillwater Oct 24, 2022
    Show notes

Wescott Eberts and Cameron Parker put a bow on the Longhorns’ latest loss to Oklahoma State in the latest Winning is Hard podcast. They spend the first two hours of the podcast discussing Steve Sarkisian and the Horns not staying on the field to sing the Eyes of Texas after the loss. Just kidding. Wescott and Cam start off with the play of Quinn Ewers, the fingernail injury, and if Sark should have pulled Quinn at any point for Hudson Card (4:00). Plus, the penalty discrepancy and what that says about both coaching staffs (11:00), the injury to Anthony Cook, and how concerning the depth level is in the secondary heading into the bye week (17:00). Finally, they conclude with the overall trajectory of the team and the program (24:00). Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

    Longhorn Republic: October 20, 2022 - Oklahoma State Preview Oct 20, 2022
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns are going on the road for the first time since the debacle in Lubbock, taking on the Oklahoma State Cowboys to keep themselves in the upper tier of the Big 12 standings. A year ago, Texas held a lead against the Cowboys but things began to unravel thanks to an interception that turned into a score that sparked the Cowboys' comeback. Both teams look quite different than they did a year ago, thanks to graduations, transfers, and young contributors on both sidelines. Can the Longhorns rebound from a tough offensive performance from last week and will Spencer Sanders continue to struggle or will he have another career day against the Longhorns? Those storylines will not only define the game, but could define the outcome of the Big 12 race. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. Winning is Hard: "Gritty" and "culture win" for Texas, previewing Oklahoma State, and Buy or Sell Oct 19, 2022
    Show notes

Wescott Eberts and Cameron Parker start with the go-ahead touchdown drive for the Horns and the performance from the offensive line (7:30) as well as the gameplan from Steve Sarkisian and the play of Bijan Robinson. They focus on the Texas defense (15:00) and the issues in the secondary following the injury to Ryan Watts (21:00). They turn their attention to the Cowboys and the health of quarterback Spencer Sanders following their loss to TCU in double overtime. Plus, a preview of their offense (30:00) and their defense (34:00) followed by Wescott’s prediction. Finally, “Buy or Sell” featuring Bijan Robinson, Texas’s 3rd down defense, and more (36:00). Longhorn Republic: October 18, 2022 - Iowa State Recap Oct 18, 2022
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns' revenge tour continued Saturday, avenging one of the more embarrassing losses from a year ago, a drubbing on the road at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones. It wasn't the best game from the Texas offense, with quarterback Quinn Ewers struggling to find open receivers but still managing to toss three touchdowns in the win. His efforts were buoyed by the efforts Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, who literally and figuratively carried the team to a victory on the final drive. For the first time in four years, Texas managed to shut down the Iowa State passing attack, putting the game on the right arm of quarterback Hunter Dekkers, who played well in the loss. Iowa State nearly had the go-ahead touchdown, but Xavier Hutchinson could not come down with the pass. So what does this mean for Texas moving forward? Did they manage to turn the corner or was this just another near miss against an inferior opponent? Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. Longhorn Republic: October 13, 2022 - Iowa State Preview Oct 13, 2022
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns have said they're on a revenge tour and the next on the list is the Iowa State Cyclones. Texas and Iowa State are teams moving in opposite directions, with Texas winning its last two games, including a big win in the Red River Showdown, while Iowa State hopes to snap a long losing streak while extending its run against Texas. The Cyclones are without much of what made their offense special in recent memory, breaking in new weapons on offense. However, the architect of their suffocating defense, DC Jon Heacock, still manages their pioneering alignment. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. Longhorn Republic: October 11, 2022 - Texas Dismantles Oklahoma Oct 11, 2022
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns went into the Cotton Bowl with something to prove and came away with the most lopsided victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the history of the matchup. Texas put together its most complete performance of the year, playing suffocating, dominating defense and pairing it with an offensive game plan that put them ahead early and never looked back. Is this indicative of what we can expect from Texas every week moving forward? What do we want to see improved from a dominating performance so Texas can continue to control its own fate in conference play? We also dive in on the No. 1 volleyball team's march through conference play, the swimming team's openers, and the soccer team's dominance in the Sunflower state, before closing the show out with our Bang the Drum segment. Show notes

The newest Winning is Hard podcast recaps the Texas Longhorns emphatic win over the Oklahoma Sooners in the 118th Red River Showdown. Wescott and Cameron Parker talk about the limited Sooners offense under Davis Beville and just how bad this Oklahoma team is historically (3:00), the lack of playmakers, and the surplus of playmakers on the Texas side. Plus, the improvement of turnovers and third-down success on offense for the Horns (14:00), the Texas defense (18:00), and Ja’Tavion Sanders impressive thoughts (22:00). Wescott and Cameron conclude with final thoughts on Quinn Ewers’s performance, how Oklahoma defended Texas, and the lack of diversity of Longhorns wideouts this season.
