    E2: The Leadership Mindset May 24, 2023
    Show notes

Here are 5 key aspects of the leadership mindset and explore how it can unlock the potential for success.

    1. Visionary Thinking. Leaders with a strong mindset understand the power of vision. They possess the ability to see beyond the present circumstances and envision a better future. By crafting a compelling vision, leaders inspire and motivate their teams to strive for excellence. They paint a picture of what success looks like, communicate it effectively, and align their actions to achieve that vision. A visionary mindset helps leaders anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and chart a clear path toward success. (8:38)

(To hear the story about a visionary thinking janitor who impacted JFK during his visit to NASA, listen at the 9:10 mark in this episode)

    2. Growth Orientation. A critical aspect of the leadership mindset is embracing a growth-oriented perspective. Great leaders believe in the potential for continuous learning and development, both for themselves and their teams. They view failures as opportunities for growth and encourage experimentation and calculated risk-taking. This mindset promotes a culture of innovation, where individuals are encouraged to stretch their abilities, learn from mistakes, and constantly seek improvement. (10:30)

    3. Emotional Intelligence. Leadership… EFFECTIVE leadership, requires a high level of emotional intelligence. Leaders with a strong leadership mindset possess self-awareness, empathy, which is HUGE, and the ability to understand and manage their emotions effectively. They’re skilled at recognizing and responding to the emotions of others, fostering positive relationships, and creating an inclusive and supportive work environment. Emotional intelligence enables leaders to inspire trust, resolve conflicts, and build cohesive and high-performing teams. (11:35)

    4. Resilience and Adaptability. In a rapidly changing world… resilience and adaptability are crucial leadership traits. A strong leadership mindset embraces challenges as opportunities for growth and views setbacks as temporary obstacles. Leaders with this mindset bounce back from failures, learn from them, and quickly adapt their strategies to changing circumstances. They encourage their teams to embrace change, foster a culture of resilience, and empower individuals to overcome obstacles and seize new opportunities. (12:51)

    5. Servant Leadership. The leadership mindset goes beyond traditional hierarchical models; it embraces the concept of servant leadership. Leaders with a servant mindset prioritize the needs of their team members, placing their growth and well-being at the forefront. They support and mentor others, empower them to take ownership, and create an environment where everyone can thrive. By serving their teams, leaders build trust, loyalty, and commitment, fostering a sense of shared purpose and achieving exceptional results. (14:08)

    E1: Think Like A Rookie May 10, 2023
    Show notes

On this episode, we navigate through 5 practical steps we can take to “think like a rookie” through our leadership journeys.

Why do we want to adopt a “think like a rookie” mindset? Because we’re ALWAYS going to have a long way to go and a long way to grow. Rookies do a great job of imagining the possibilities without limitations. (2:32)

    1. Expect failures. We need to believe for success, but expect to fail, because at the end of the day, let’s acknowledge that things are not always going to go our way. We’re going to make mistakes along the way, we’re going to lose at times, and we’re going to experience failure at some point in our lives. (3:53)

    2. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. It’s okay to be content, but not comfortable. Growth and comfort can’t coexist. A way that we can LIVE outside of our comfort zone is to sharpen our axe. (6:15)

    3. Commit to being a lifelong learner. Become a C.I.A. member. Coachable, Intelligent, Attitude. Acknowledge that literally every person we come in contact with has the possibility to teach us something that we don’t know. (9:06)

    4. Hire a coach or a mentor. Every one of us should find someone in our life to learn from. Find someone you trust, and allow them to speak truth into your life. (12:22)

    5. Put in the work. Don’t settle. Always strive to be better than yesterday. Stay focused. Be consistent, and don't compare your day 1 to someone else's day 1,000. (16:48)

Consistency is the key. These 5 steps allow us to grow exponentially.
