Are you sick and tired of feeling stuck in life?
Do you constantly feel like you are trying to manage your responsibilities all at once as a mom, or wife only to be left completely exhausted by the end of each day?
Do you deal with crippling fear & doubt that can invade your mind at any given moment and weighs you down mentally? Do you find yourself struggling with your self-worth and confidence when it comes to putting yourself first? Have you wrestled with the desire to grow deeper in relationship with God and see His plan for your life come to fruition, but you are still a little scared?

There is a way to step out of the constant self-sabotage, gain control of your life and give yourself permission to live out the vision that God has for you!

Hey, I’m Joy Johnson. Your new bestie, coach, mentor and sister in Christ that cannot wait to speak life into you and activate you to take action in the life that you have been so blessed with.

I remember the days where I was hiding behind the very things that were robbing me of all of my time and energy. I was crippled by fear of failure, the opinions of others and lacked major boundaries. I was operating in a lack mentality in my motherhood, overcommitted to things that weren’t fully serving me and not letting my husband in on my mind battles. Not to mention allowing my relationship with God to be on the back burner because hello- there was no time for that. That was a recipe for disaster that quickly led to burn out and frustration.

It wasn’t until I realized that I was absolutely not alone, and so many other women were struggling with the same things that I began to be honest with myself. I have since been able to apply a framework in structuring my life that has changed everything for the better.

Through this podcast I will share with you HOW to:

    • Discover, design & develop a vision the vision God has for you
    • Simplify your daily systems to bring transformation in your mental, emotional & physical health
    • Embrace the power of consistency and release the perfectionistic mindset once and for all
    • Heal from your past and not let it hinder your future
    • Find joy in your Journey to Becoming all that God has created you to be

I am honored to be on this journey alongside you, grab your amazingly oversized water bottle & let’s live out our God dreams, together!

148 | How to Break Free From Anxiety & Childhood Trauma With Jesus with Julie Rebboah Oct 05, 2026
    Show notes

What if the anxiety, stress, or patterns you're struggling with today have deeper roots than you realize?

In this episode of The Journey to Becoming, I’m joined by Julie Rebboah, MS — Christian Nervous System Coach, creator of Biblical Breathwork™, author of the upcoming book Lay Worry Down, and affectionately known as the “Peace Navigator.”

Julie and I talk about anxiety, stress, childhood trauma, and what it looks like to get to the root of what we're carrying and move toward healing WITH Jesus.

    We dive into:

✨ How childhood trauma can impact anxiety and stress today
✨ Why we need to look beneath the surface of our patterns
✨ Practical ways to regulate stress and move toward greater peace
✨ The difference between emptying our minds and filling our minds with God's truth
✨ How Scripture and practical tools can work together as we pursue healing

The world may tell us to empty our minds, but as believers, we're called to renew our minds and fill them with what is true about God and who He says we are.

You don't have to stay stuck in old patterns or carry anxiety alone. There is a path toward greater peace, freedom, and restoration — and Jesus belongs at the center of it.

🎧 If you've ever wondered, “Why do I keep responding this way?” or “How do I get to the root of this?” — this conversation is for you.

147 | Stop Walking on Eggshells: How to Have Honest Conversations in Marriage with Cara Nitz Sep 28, 2026
    Show notes

Have you ever needed to have a hard conversation with your husband but found yourself overthinking how to even bring it up?

Maybe you’re afraid you’ll hurt his feelings, make him defensive, start an argument, or create tension in your marriage so instead, you stay quiet, hold it in, or try to handle it yourself.

In this episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, I’m talking with marriage and life coach Cara Nitz about the deeper roots of communication and what it looks like to have honest, healthy conversations in marriage.

Cara shares her own marriage experience and the work she and her husband, Adam, have done together, offering practical insight for women who want to communicate more openly without falling into old patterns of people-pleasing, overfunctioning, avoiding conflict, or taking responsibility for someone else’s emotions.

One of the biggest mindset shifts in our conversation is this: you are not responsible for another person’s feelings.

That truth can be incredibly freeing when you’ve spent years managing other people’s emotions, walking on eggshells, or believing that keeping the peace means keeping your own thoughts and needs to yourself.

And while we talk a lot about communication in marriage, these principles can transform the way you communicate in any relationship, with friends, family, coworkers, and the people you love most.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • How to start a difficult conversation with your husband
      • The connection between people-pleasing and communication
      • How overfunctioning can show up in relationships
      • Why you are not responsible for another person’s feelings
      • What healthy, honest communication can look like
      • What Cara has learned through her own marriage journey

If you’ve ever thought, “I don't know how to say this without hurting his feelings,” this conversation is for you.

You don’t have to choose between being honest and being loving. There is a healthier way to communicate and it starts by getting to the root of what’s happening within you.

145 | Financial Freedom Without Fear: What the Bible Says About Money, Investing & Retirement with Emily Scott Sep 14, 2026
    Show notes

What if you could stop feeling afraid, overwhelmed, or confused about money—and start managing your finances with wisdom, confidence, and vision?

In this episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, Joy sits down with Emily of Financially Unbroken for an empowering conversation about financial literacy, faith, money mindset, investing, budgeting, and retirement planning for women.

Together, they unpack what the Bible actually says about money and why we don't have to approach our finances from a place of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind—and that applies to our finances too.

Emily walks through the different stages of our financial journey, from budgeting and saving to investing and preparing for retirement, while challenging some of the messages society constantly sends us—like “girl math” and “treat yourself.”

One of the biggest mindset shifts she shares is the difference between “earn” and “deserve.” What happens when we stop believing we deserve everything we want right now and instead learn to find fulfillment and reward in doing the work, building discipline, and earning what we're working toward?

And when it comes to retirement, Emily asks a powerful question:

“What am I retiring from—and what am I retiring to?”

That question opens up a beautiful conversation about living with vision, purpose, and intention—not just during our working years, but in the years that come after.

    In this episode, you'll discover:
    • What the Bible says about money and financial stewardship
      • How to manage your finances without fear
      • The financial stages of budgeting, saving, investing, and retirement
      • Why “girl math” and “treat yourself” can influence our spending habits
      • The mindset shift from “I deserve it” to “I earned it”
      • Why discipline and delayed gratification can actually create freedom
      • How women can begin building financial confidence and literacy
      • How to think differently about retirement and your future
      • The powerful question: “What am I retiring from—and what am I retiring to?”
      • How to create a financial future that aligns with your values, faith, and vision

If you've ever felt intimidated by money, unsure where to start financially, or caught between wanting to enjoy your life today and wanting to prepare for tomorrow, this conversation is for you.

Financial freedom isn't just about having more money. It's about having the wisdom, confidence, and vision to steward what God has entrusted to you—and build a future you're excited to live.

144 | Who Told You That? Uncovering the Lies About Your Identity & Replacing Them With God’s Truth with Lindsay Greear Sep 07, 2026
    Show notes

So often, we believe things about ourselves that we’ve carried for years — I’m not enough. I’m too much. I’m a failure. I’ll never change. I have to prove myself. And before we even realize it, those lies begin shaping the way we see ourselves, our relationships, our choices, and even our relationship with God.

In this week’s episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, I’m sitting down with Lindsay Greear, author of Who Told You That? — Uncovering the Lies That Shape You and the Truth That Sets You Free.

This conversation was SO powerful because Lindsay shares not only the heart behind her book, but the personal journey that led her to write it.

With a background in therapy, Lindsay takes a unique approach to helping women identify the lies they’ve believed about themselves. She addresses each lie from a therapeutic perspective and then brings it back to the truth of God’s Word, helping us understand what Scripture says about who we really are.

Because here’s the thing: you can’t become who God created you to be while continuing to operate from a false identity.

In this episode, we talk about:

✨ The lies women commonly believe about themselves and their identity
✨ How our beliefs shape the way we live and make decisions
✨ What God’s Word says about who we really are
✨ How replacing lies with truth can change the way we live

I hope this conversation encourages you to slow down and ask yourself:

    “Who told me that?”

Because some of the things you’ve believed about yourself may not be the truth at all.

And when you uncover the lie, you can finally begin to walk in the freedom that comes from knowing who God says you are.

🎧 Listen now and be encouraged to uncover the lies, embrace God’s truth, and continue becoming the woman He created you to be.

    Show notes

Have you ever opened your Bible and thought, “I want to understand this, but I don’t even know where to start?”

If studying the Bible feels intimidating, confusing, or overwhelming, this episode is for you.

In this conversation, I’m joined by Angie Baughman, a licensed pastor, Bible teacher, and founder of Steady On Ministries. Angie created the Step By Step Bible study method, a simple and transferable approach designed to help women learn how to understand and study Scripture for themselves.

Angie shares how her own journey of healing led her into a deeper love for God’s Word and how that passion became a calling to help other women discover the beauty, truth, and transformation found in Scripture.

    Together, we talk about:

    • Why studying the Bible can feel intimidating—and how to move past that
    • How Angie developed a passion for studying Scripture
    • The difference between simply reading the Bible and actually studying it
    • How to approach Scripture with confidence and curiosity
    • Why you don't need to be a Bible scholar to understand God's Word
    • The beauty of learning to hear, understand, and apply biblical truth for yourself
    • How studying Scripture can deepen your relationship with God

If you've ever thought “I wish I knew how to study the Bible” or felt like you weren't equipped to understand Scripture on your own, let this episode be your encouragement to start.

You just have to be willing to begin.

    Show notes

What if the extra weight, fatigue, stress, or other symptoms you’re experiencing aren’t the actual problem—but your body’s way of telling you something deeper needs attention?

In this episode of The Journey to Becoming Podcast, I’m sitting down with Amber Swift, a Certified Integrative & Functional Nutrition Health Coach, to talk about what it really means to get to the root cause of your health instead of simply treating symptoms.

Amber shares part of her own health journey and how years of chronic stress and trying the wrong approaches eventually forced her to slow down and prioritize her own health. We talk about why excess weight can be a symptom rather than the root problem, how stress impacts the body, and why taking a more holistic approach can help you finally understand what your body is trying to tell you.

If you’ve been frustrated because you’re doing “all the right things” but still don’t feel your best, this conversation will help you look at your health through a completely different lens.

In this episode, we talk about:

    • Why excess weight can be a symptom of a deeper issue
    • The importance of getting to the root cause of health challenges
    • How chronic stress can impact your overall health

These four pillars create the roadmap for the work we’re doing inside Joyful Fit Life and in this episode, you’ll get a little behind-the-scenes look at what that actually looks like.

140 | Holy Girl Summer Mini Series Part 9: Finish Strong: Living with Purpose After Holy Girl Summer Aug 10, 2026
    Show notes

After nine incredible weeks together, Holy Girl Summer may be coming to an end—but your journey is just beginning.

Throughout this series, we've explored what it means to become the woman God created you to be by discovering your spiritual gifts, growing in obedience, and learning to steward what He's entrusted to you. But knowledge without action doesn't produce transformation.

In this final episode, we're celebrating every woman who listened, leaned in, prayed, reflected, started something new, or simply took one faithful step forward.

    As Zechariah 4:10 reminds us:

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin."

Sometimes we think God is only pleased with the finished product. But Scripture tells us He rejoices when we simply begin.

In this episode, you'll be encouraged to celebrate your progress, trust God with the small steps, and remember that faithfulness—not perfection—is what He asks of us.

✨ You'll also be challenged to complete one powerful sentence:

"Because of Holy Girl Summer, I will..."

This simple declaration is your opportunity to move from inspiration to implementation and to commit to one intentional next step in your walk with Christ.

Whether you're beginning a new ministry, serving in your local church, strengthening your prayer life, or using your gifts in your home, workplace, or community, this episode will encourage you to keep saying "yes" to God's calling.

Thank you for spending your summer with me. My prayer is that this series has helped you discover not only how God has gifted you, but also the courage to use those gifts to glorify Him and serve others.

Remember, the best is still yet to come!

Keep taking your next faithful step.

139 | Holy Girl Summer Mini Series Part 8: How to Trust God's Calling: Leaving Security to Walk by Faith with Darneisha Beeler Aug 03, 2026
    Show notes

What do you do when God asks you to leave the very thing that makes you feel secure?

In Part 8 of the Holy Girl Summer series, Joy is joined by Darneisha Beeler, who shares her incredible journey of walking away from a successful six-figure career in banking after the Holy Spirit began stirring her heart for something more.

Leaving comfort and financial security wasn't easy—but Darneisha knew that God's calling was greater than her fear. In this powerful conversation, she shares what it looked like to trust God's timing, surrender her plans, and step boldly into the purpose He had prepared for her.

If you've ever felt the Holy Spirit nudging you toward something that feels bigger than you—a new opportunity, ministry, business, career change, or simply using your God-given gifts in a new way—this episode will encourage you to take your next faithful step.

God rarely reveals the entire roadmap. Instead, He invites us to trust Him one step at a time.

    In this episode, you'll learn:
    • How to discern when God is calling you into something new
    • Why obedience often requires leaving your comfort zone
    • How to overcome fear when taking a leap of faith
    • Why your spiritual gifts are meant to glorify God, not yourself
    • How trusting God's timing leads to greater purpose and impact
    • The encouragement you need to finally say "yes" to what God has been asking of you

This conversation is a beautiful reminder that God doesn't call the equipped—He equips those He calls. When you surrender your plans to Him, He can do immeasurably more than you could ever imagine.

🎧 Whether you're discerning your calling, feeling stuck between comfort and obedience, or praying for the courage to use your gifts for God's glory, this episode will leave you encouraged to trust the One who called you.
