What Daymond John Taught Me About Building a Personal Brand People Actually Trust Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

I sat down with Daymond John — FUBU founder, Shark Tank investor, and one of the first CEOs to build a real personal brand in front of the camera — and we went straight at the thing I care about most: visibility. Daymond put it bluntly: if you're invisible, you're vulnerable, and if you're vulnerable, you're replaceable. We talk about how he learned to control the narrative from FUBU through Shark Tank, why follower counts don't impress him without conversion, how he documents his life in "silos," what changed after his thyroid cancer diagnosis, and the "power of broke" lesson every founder needs before they hire someone to fix their problems.

This conversation matters if you're building a business or a personal brand and still waiting for someone else to make you visible. Daymond and I both land on the same idea: visibility is your responsibility. Every day you stay quiet is another day the people you could help hire someone who cares less and isn't as good as you. If you want to raise capital, grow an audience, or just stop getting boxed into one version of yourself, this episode gives you the practical why — and a lot of the how.

Click the link in the show notes for CEOAccess.com if you're a larger CEO looking to get vetted for Daymond's team — and follow him at The Shark Daymond on Instagram, LinkedIn, and the rest of his platforms.

    Jen Quote:

"Visibility is your responsibility. Because every day that goes by that you're not making yourself visible to the people that you can help is another day that those people are going to go hire someone else that's not as good as you and doesn't care as much as you." ~Jen Gottlieb

    In This Episode:

    • How Daymond built multiple brand stories for FUBU so he wasn't relying on one celebrity or one narrative

    • Why authenticity beats trying to fit a box — and what happens when social media exposes the gap

    • The three questions every business has to answer: Why me? Why now? Why this?

    • Why a million Instagram followers don't automatically make a founder more investable

    • Daymond's content strategy across investing, empowering people, biohacking, and dad jokes

    • His biohacking origin story after stage two thyroid cancer — and daily habits that cost little to nothing

    • Keynote tips: tell them what you're going to tell them, pause on purpose, never apologize for what you forgot

    • The "power of broke," learning your business yourself, and why AI makes your real history and legacy matter more

    About Daymond John

Daymond is a world-renowned marketing and branding expert. As the Founder and CEO of FUBU, Daymond John led his company to more than $6 billion in global sales and revolutionized the fashion industry in the process.

After continuing to dominate the fashion world, Daymond's success and vision expanded into many other industries and opportunities. Today, he is one of the most sought-after keynote speakers and consultants and a co-star on ABC's five-time Emmy Award-winning show, Shark Tank.

Daymond continues to share his experience, expertise, and entrepreneurial insight to help others build businesses, brands, and lasting success.

Jen’s Favorite Episode: How Anne Mahlum built Solid Core and Sold it for 88 Million Jul 10, 2026
    Show notes

Before Solidcore had a single studio open, Anne Mahlum turned down $75,000 from an investor who wanted 30% of the company. She knew that money would become a crutch, so she walked away and risked everything on her own terms.

Anne is a fascinating person. She started her first business with nothing but a running route past a homeless shelter in Philadelphia. Then she built another studio. This is a replay of one of my favorite conversations on the show, and it is one I keep coming back to.

Watch the full episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1hSIhe6UmE

"Money for me has always been a trophy. It means I did a really good job." ~ Anne Mahlum

    In This Episode:

    - How strict standards built culture at Back on My Feet

    - Why giving things away for free makes people value them less

    - How the same culture principles shaped Solidcore

    - How she negotiated 100 Solidcore locations without security deposits

    - Turning down $75K to go all in

    - Why founders need skin in the game

    About Anne Mahlum:

Anne Mahlum is an entrepreneur, motivational speaker, investor, and philanthropist who has built two organizations from scratch. In 2007, she founded Back on My Feet, a nonprofit that uses running to help people experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives, growing it to 14 cities with an $8M annual budget. In 2013, she founded Solidcore, scaling it to over 100 locations before selling it 10 years later and sharing millions from the sale with her employees.

How to Attract Opportunities Without Constant Hustling Jul 03, 2026
    Show notes

A few weeks ago, I was on a tiny island in the Keys with my husband, phone off, and nowhere to be. A $25K speaking deal came in while I was lying on a lounge chair watching fish jump out of the water.

That moment got me thinking. There is a fine line between putting in the work and pushing so hard that you start repelling the very things you want. I had crossed that line without even realizing it, and the vacation snapped me back.

This solo episode covers what that taught me about building a personal brand that works even when you are not. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your business is nothing at all.

"If you are pushing, you will attract pushing energy, and you will push everything that you want away." ~ Jen Gottlieb

    In This Episode:

    - The fine line between high achieving and desperate pushing

    - How rushing leads to avoidable mistakes

    - Doing nothing as a productivity strategy

    - Your personal brand is your most valuable asset

    - Posting content four times a day changed everything

Jen’s Favorite Episode: It Is Never Too Late to Answer Your Calling with Steven Pressfield Jun 26, 2026
    Show notes

I'm revisiting one of my favorite conversations with bestselling author Steven Pressfield, whose wisdom on fear, resistance, and creativity has inspired millions. If you've been sitting on an idea, delaying your next move, or wondering why the work that matters most feels the hardest to begin, this episode will give you the perspective—and the push—you need.

When Steven Pressfield published The Legend of Bagger Vance, many called him an overnight success. What they didn't see were the 30 years of failed novels, unproduced screenplays, and stretches of homelessness that came before it.

Few conversations left an impact on me as this one did. Steven is now in his eighties and still creating, doing what he loves, and showing no signs of stopping. I never thought about fear the same after this podcast, thanks to Steven's words.

Watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/K3Z8bcnvNlU

"It's like the old story of an overnight success that only takes you 30 years." ~ Steven Pressfield

    In This Episode:

    - Finding your authentic creative voice

    - How to work with the muse

    - A simple process for developing great ideas

    - Why resistance means you're on the right path

    - Self-doubt as a sign of growth

    - What a shadow career really is

    About Steven Pressfield

Steven Pressfield is the author of The War of Art, which has sold over a million copies worldwide and has become essential reading for writers, artists, and entrepreneurs. His debut novel, The Legend of Bagger Vance, was made into a film starring Matt Damon and Will Smith. His other novel, Gates of Fire, is required reading at West Point. Before his breakthrough at 52, he spent decades failing as a novelist and screenwriter, at times living out of his car. His latest novel, The Arcadian, was released in May 2026.

From Selling $35 Tickets Door to Door to Million Dollar in a Month with Leanne Lopez Mosley Jun 19, 2026
    Show notes

Leanne Lopez Mosley once stood at the bottom of her neighbors' driveways, talking herself out of knocking on their doors to sell $35 event tickets. A toddler at home, a corporate job she was desperate to leave, and zero customers to speak of. Who knew just a few years later she would be making a million per month?

Well, Leanne did. She made $500,000 in her first full year, then had a baby, quit live launching, and crossed a million dollars in the same year. The secret was not working harder. It was getting obsessively specific about who she was talking to and what she was selling them.

Leanne walked me through Freedom Funnels, the system behind her consistent million-dollar months with no sales calls and under 16,000 followers.

If you enjoyed our conversation, you should definitely check out Leanne's Soft Girl Millions Show at https://www.richqueen.com/the-soft-girl-millions-show, and if you want to see her live, grab your spot at Soft Girl Millions LIVE at https://www.richqueen.com/rq25-soft-girl-millions-the-mastermind-live-organic-26.

    - Hitting a million dollars while on maternity leave

    - The offers that got her to her first million

    - Running her own ads and launching She Makes Bank

    - Why messaging to one person changes everything

From Making $63 in the First Year to Being Worth $20M with Maria Wendt Jun 12, 2026
    Show notes

About 1 in 5 businesses fail within their first year. So when you make $63 in year one and $350 in year two, most people would have quit. Maria Wendt didn't.

She now runs an eight-figure business with over 150,000 customers, a million-dollar month, and an average of $2,500 per reel, selling products that cost around $85. She has a team of eight, no company meetings, and launches roughly one new product every single week.

I brought her on to understand how she got there, and why she walked away from making $1M a year in high-ticket coaching to build something completely different.

"I made $63 in my first year and $350 in my second year, and yet I've made over $20 million now." ~ Maria Wendt

    - Eight figures, a team of eight, and zero meetings

    - How Maria tracks exactly how much each reel makes her

How to Break Free From Burnout with CEO of Boss Babe Natalie Ellis Jun 05, 2026
    Show notes

Natalie Ellis had millions of followers, a full team, and a fancy LA office by the time she was 25. Then one day, she got on a regular Zoom call and said, "I quit. I no longer wish to be CEO of this company."

How do you build a female entrepreneurship platform? How do you make it one of the biggest of its kind in the world? And how do you walk away from something like that? Those were some of the questions I had in mind before sitting down with today's guest.

During our conversation, she breaks down what makes content actually convert. Why audience growth and revenue growth are two completely different things. And most importantly, how she went from burning out to making over $2.2 million while completely offline for 12 weeks.

"Audience growth does not equal business growth, and audience growth does not equal revenue." ~ Natalie Ellis

    In This Episode:

    - Introduction: how Natalie built Bossbabe

    - Seeing Instagram's potential before anyone else

    - The type of content that makes people buy

    - Why follower count and revenue have nothing to do with each other

    - The Zoom call where she quit and what came after

    - Mindset before systems, and the discipline of staying simple

    - How Jen and Natalie each use AI for content

    - Why right now is the time to build

    - Where to find Natalie and get her book

    About Natalie Ellis

Natalie Ellis is the founder and CEO of Bossbabe, one of the largest online communities and education platforms for female entrepreneurs, with over 4 million followers and more than $20 million in course and membership revenue. Jen’s Favorite Episode: Sahil Bloom Reveals Why Everything You Know About Success Is Wrong May 29, 2026
    Show notes

At just 30, Sahil Bloom had everything society told him he needed. The house, the job, the salary, and everything else on the list. And yet, he was miserable.

This episode is a replay of one of my favorite conversations on this show. Sahil's story had a pretty normal beginning. He set goals, worked hard, and hit his goals. Except when he got there, something felt off.

He was living 3,000 miles away from his family, drinking seven days a week, all while pretending everything was fine. So he stopped and asked himself a question most people are too afraid to ask. Am I even playing the right game? What follows in our conversation is everything he found on the other side of that question.

Watch the full episode here: https://youtu.be/cgJ-NpUmGSE

"Unless you create your own definition of success, you will never feel successful." ~ Sahil Bloom

    In This Episode:

    - When you feel empty despite hitting every goal

    - Why money became the way we measure success

    - Why “later” is just another word for “never”

    - How investing in the right things compounds over time

    - The “Life Razor” and why everyone needs one

    - How the stories we tell ourselves shape our future

    About Sahil Bloom

Sahil Bloom is a New York Times bestselling author, entrepreneur, and investor on a mission to positively impact one billion lives. A Stanford graduate, he spent seven years in high finance before walking away from the traditional path to redesign life on his own terms. Over 800,000 people read his newsletter, The Curiosity Chronicle, every week. He is also the owner of SRB Holdings and the managing partner of SRB Ventures, an early-stage investment fund.
