Social media has changed the landscape of communication in our lives today. Ways Introverts Can Flirt Mar 30, 2021

Are you also trying to get back out there? How is your experience? I am kind of having an interesting time. I am going through different scenarios and talking with people even if it’s talking online. I have no freaking idea how to flirt, honestly I am just awful at it and it's pretty comical! Looking back at my first and only relationship, I feel like I might do a little bit better if I can do more in-person stuff with flirting. So I had to go look around. I had to get some books and do some digging around.

    Ways Introverts Don't Decorate Mar 23, 2021

For introverts, home is the ultimate place for retreat and basking in solitude. As such individuals like to have their own space and want to make it convenient and comfortable, they are very particular about decorating their homes. After all, it is the place to revitalize and jump back into the world with fresh vigor. So, although introverts enjoy a gathering from time to time, having space, where they can relax and feel comfortable is of utmost importance.

Things All Introverts Do Feb 23, 2021

As an introvert, I know that there are certain things that all introverts do. Though it may seem odd or funny to others, it is not so for introverts because we know what is going on in our heads. Not everyone would notice us doing these things or understand it either. But for introverts, it’s normal.

The 4 Types of Introverts Feb 16, 2021

The concept of types of introverts has been around for quite some time. But I'm not 100% sold on the idea. While it does make sense to categorize things to gain more clarity, I don’t believe that we need to break down every possible thing. But I did want to discuss this. You can see if you fit into any category and if you do, there are other sites to check out more information on this. And you can belong mostly to one category, or fit into two or more.

    Know Yourself Part 3 Feb 09, 2021

Most of us love random quizzes, aptitude tests, zodiac signs, and astrology as we find out pieces of ourselves through these. But the point is to remember that they give you directions in life. None of these indicate that you are set in stone when it comes to your inclinations, tendencies, behavior, and actions.

Why Saying We Don't Seem Like An Introvert Is Rude Feb 02, 2021

Introverts are not as rigid as people think them to be. It is rude to say to people that they don’t look or sound introverted. Introverts like to live within their own bubble and create a world for themselves. This helps them cope with the outside world. Not many people put in the effort to understand introverts but at least they should try not to be rude to them. Introverts have friends and family, and go out, socialize, work, and do everything that extroverts do. It is important to understand that if introverts were not working as hard, half of the world’s population would be doing absolutely nothing.

Today's interview is with Katie, an illustrator from Upstate New York. She also authored and illustrated a book for Introverts. The Escape Manual for Introverts is a humorous, illustrated book about how to get out of certain social situations as an introvert. It explores the awkwardness of everyday life for introverts, guiding readers through different scenarios that introverts often dread, such as being trapped on an airplane with a chatterbox or hosting a dinner party with people who just won’t leave. From family to friends and from karaoke night to group lunchtime, a number of escapes and excuses are offered for the awkward and funny encounters introverts have every day.

The difference between boundaries and walls came up with a client recently, and I started asking other people about it too. As you might know, I’m a big advocate for setting healthy boundaries so that people won’t take advantage of you and you can save time and energy, be able to take care of yourself, and simply have energy for the important things. One Foot In This World Sep 24, 2019

As introverts, we love being in our heads. We have such vivid imaginations. We love to think through things, create stories, and try new things. I sometimes feel like it’s harder for introverts to do certain things because we always only have one foot in the present. I know I always have other things going on in my head, like big dreams of how I want my life to be, traveling, and writing fiction books. If my mind and body aren’t engaged enough in the here and now, my mind will wander.

Sorry, All People Are Draining Sep 10, 2019

There are a few things that introverts have a hard time explaining, or things that other people tend to take personally. One of the biggest things I find hard to explain is that all people are draining no matter what. For a lot of people, those that they find draining are for a reason, such as that person is selfish, boring, or needy. It’s someone who they don’t want to be around or wouldn’t be around if they had the choice.

Crazy Thoughts All Introverts Have Aug 06, 2019

We’ll always get into situations we don’t want to be in, or do things we don’t want to do. It is simply a part of life. When you have connections or responsibilities, you can’t always get out of things you don’t want to do. We could also actually want to do those things, and then we are “done” with it after a short period of time too. I found that intriguing and wanted to have her on the Introvert’s Bubble.

    Introvert Myths Jul 16, 2019

In season 1 of The Introvert’s Bubble, I had an episode about misconceived and preconceived notions of what introverts are like. I thought I would add a couple more that have been popping up lately and I have found particularly strange. These connect to the ones I mentioned last season, but have been added to. They think it makes the sayings more true for some reason. An example: “you’re a woman…” or “you’re a minority,” so you must be blank. These are the type of things that make you go “huh?”

    When Sorry Isn't Enough Jul 09, 2019

We all make mistakes. Some are big and some are small. Of course we should apologize whenever we make mistakes, but there are instances where “sorry” just isn’t enough. There are so many people that don’t know how to apologize the right way. We are automatically told, especially as little kids, to just say sorry all the time and it’s not that helpful when we don’t get shown why we need to.

Introvert Role Models Jul 02, 2019

There are role models for everything. Science, stand-up guys, smart independent women, great mothers, and the list could go on. We have some great introvert role models that I would like to share with you here. Introverts have talents as diverse as extroverts do. Being an introvert should not be a barrier to living a fulfilling life. They can do what they love and be good at it!

Every Little Thing You Friends Say About You Adds Up Jun 25, 2019

There are many different types of boundaries that you need to create in your life. We all know how we want to be treated and the truth is that we want to be treated well. There is one thing that doesn’t get talked about enough when it comes to boundaries though, and that is how we let people talk about us to other people. I’m mainly talking about how friends introduce you to others, if it’s not respectful or kind. For example, if they introduce you to other people as the difficult, picky, or bitchy friend. Sometimes our friends fight boundaries because they are new to them or are inconvenient.

How to work on that feeling of not being enough Jun 11, 2019

There are too many of us who believe that we are not enough. It could be from things we were told, what we heard in passing, society’s influence, or just things about us in general. It wouldn’t be right for me to talk about creating boundaries, being authentic, and bettering your life on the inside, if I didn’t talk about how to work on the foundation. Without feeling like you’re enough, or having a sense of self-worth, the rest of it doesn’t make a big difference.

They are a passion for me. They’re always happy to see you and don’t require a lot of talking. They will lounge around with you, but also get you up and moving to take them outside.

No Emotion is Good or Bad May 21, 2019

We’ve all been told at one point or another that girls shouldn’t get angry or be irritated. We’re told that the other person wasn’t trying to be mean, or that people came to see us and we should be happy about it. That always made me want to scream when I was younger! I don’t understand why people want to control others’ emotions. Why is it “bad” to feel any other emotions that isn’t happy? I’m tired of the “everything needs to be good, we can’t have anything bad” ideal. We should be able to feel however we feel.

How to Talk to Friends About Hard Topics Apr 30, 2019

Last season, I talked about losing friends and finding new ones. Sadly, as we grow older, that starts to happen. We lose friends, and at some point, we will need to start making new ones because we can’t just have one. We grow apart, go off to school, move away, change jobs, or simply change priorities enough that it causes us to drift away from each other.

Designing an Introvert Friendly Home Apr 23, 2019

I’m one of those people who loves watching HGTV, shows like Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, and the lottery dream home things. It is fun to see people who are able to DIY their dream home and have to be frugal about it, or even those who are able to find their dream home without renovating it at all. It’s part of the strange American dream of having a home. For me personally, it’s all about having your own space.

    Avoiding People 101 Apr 16, 2019

People find it funny whenever I talk about all of the ways I have avoided people. Avoiding People 101 is part serious, part funny. The truth is, everyone has their own ways and reasons for avoiding people, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Sometimes you just don’t want to talk to somebody, or you can’t stand being around toxic or negative people. This advice is not just for introverts because it can be awkward around certain people, no matter who you are.

How to Add Value To Your Life (and Get Rid of The Bad) Apr 02, 2019

I have talked a lot about upgrading your life and adding adventure. Some of you guys wanted to have smaller steps to get you started. The first step is starting simple, especially when you are younger and just starting out. One small thing that I have done is that if something will take me a minute or less to do, I just do it right away. If I need to do a lot of chores, I will start with laundry because it takes less than a minute to start. Then, I will arrange the dishes. I don’t need to do everything at once. When you do things that take a minute or less, they all add up.

Different Introvert Needs For Our Alone Time Feb 26, 2019

Growing older means growing as a person. I don’t know if this topic came to mind because of New Year’s, or my birthday, or for other reasons, but most of us want to be better people. We try to do that as every year goes by or when we try new things. It also comes from constructive criticism in our lives. For example, when someone tells us we were insensitive or rude, we want to know so that we can change and grow. No one is ever completely done learning in life and we don’t purposely rub people the wrong way.

    Introvert Guilt Dec 11, 2018

Let me start by saying that the world is a noisy place for introverts. Between work and life, we are so often “talked out” at the end of the day. We crave precious silence and it is so easy to retreat into our bubbles, alone, without friends and family. People might think we are a little too reserved, too quiet, homebodies, and maybe even non-memorable. But that doesn’t mean our presence doesn’t contribute to the world. It just maybe means that we aren’t as flashy as extroverted people.

    Guess what? That’s OK.

We tend to get heavily involved in after-school or weekend organizations in high school and college. By that time, we have figured out what we are interested in (as opposed to what our parents want us to do), so whether it be sports, theatre, debate teams or multi-cultural clubs, extracurricular opportunities give people the chance to make new friends, add to a resume and explore new hobbies and enrichment experiences. Allowed to be Alone Jul 10, 2018

In this loud world there seems to be a panic when people decide to spend time alone. Like somehow its a horrible thing all the time to not always be with other people. I'm calling that BS. There are a lot of instances where we need to spend time with just ourselves. For our health. courageouscreativity.co

Being the Odd One Out May 29, 2018

A lot of my podcast episodes are created around my reactions to things that happen to me, or around me. That being said, I was having a conversation with a few women in business that I had connected with at networking events and meet-up groups. As we were talking, I was pleasantly surprised to realize we were all alike: confident in ourselves and “OK” with who we are. Sure, some of them were worried about being respected enough to be successful in their business, but since humans are social creature, that is a normal reaction to life’s challenge of being likeable to others. courageouscreativity.co

Ways to Pay It Foward Apr 24, 2018

Philanthropy has always been personal to me. Since I was a child, I have been dedicated to animal welfare, environmental or wildlife causes, but it wasn’t until now that I had the ability to donate my time wholeheartedly, and felt financially secure enough to support those causes that are near and dear to my heart. Millennials often get a bad rap. We are labeled as selfish and disconnected from reality. But funny enough, it seems that we are the ones doing the most honest charitable work in the world! We do it because we like to, not to win votes, receive praise, secure jobs or slip our way into an Ivy League school. With National Pay It Forward day on the 28th I thought I'd some easy ways to pay it forward without going broke or taking up all your time. Networking and Finding Clients: Interview with Megan Hazel Designs Apr 10, 2018

Welcome back to the Introvert’s Bubble Podcast. I am pleased to introduce you to Megan , the owner and graphic designer at Megan Hazel Designs. We will be chatting about how Megan built a full-time with business in a YEAR, how she networks and finds clients, and (most importantly to us!) the benefits of working alone. Even though Megan majored in media and broadcasting in college, she “kind-of” went to school for graphic design, too. She quickly fell in love with the art, so she decided to leave her post-college job at a coffee shop to hustle-hard in creating logos and small designs for new businesses. No matter what time of year it is, there is always so much stuff going on. And since no two people on this planet are the same, that means disagreements, hurt feelings and confrontations are bound to happen sooner or later. The Benefits of Planning Your Time Mar 13, 2018

Today, we will be talking about scheduling and planning your time. But before all of you introverted free-spirits snuff at the idea of being “boxed in”, hear me out, because this is a life skill that can benefit anyone’s life and wellbeing. We all must stay organized in life, am I right? I mean, it is somewhat necessary to keep our lives in order so we don’t live in complete chaos. And you may think that as an introvert, you are safe from experiencing disorder. But even though we like to stay safe in our own little world, there are going to be times where we just have to go out and socialize, network and engage with people (our version of “chaos, right?). Families, friends, co-workers, doctors…it is inevitable that we will have to exchange a word or two with them every now and then. For full show notes head over to Courageous Creativity.

    Starting a business Feb 28, 2018

Welcome back to the Introvert’s Bubble Podcast. Last week, we explored side hustles, what they are and the benefits of exploring the world of business ownership. This week, I will be going into detail with the steps I took to start my Courageous Creativity and keep it running long and strong. As we discussed in the previous episode, it is better to start off a side-hustle as just that: a “side” hustle. My advice is to keep your 9 to 5 so you can have a steady income while you build your new life as a business owner. You will have to make sacrifices in other areas of your life, such as implementing a budget, staying in instead of going out (oh, the torture!), and working on the weekends. But in the end, the financial freedom and extreme happiness will be worth it. For full show notes head over to Courageous Creativity.

Get That Money: Side Hustlin and the Introvert Feb 21, 2018

Nowadays, I have found that jobs are not very secure. And since not many of my friends and family know what it is that I do for work, I decided to dedicate this episode to the art of the side hustle. What is a side hustle? It is a job that you have, in addition to your 9-5, to make some extra money. Whether it be temp/seasonal job or all-year; online or in-person. Introverts, Love and Relationships Feb 14, 2018

I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. I don’t feel that there should be one out of 365 days reserved to celebrate your relationship. It seems kind of silly. If you have a partner, you should want to touch them, give gifts and be good to each other all the time, right? But, since we are half-way into February, I figured that today’s episode would be the perfect time to discuss introverts and romantic relationships. Introverts crave love and connection, just like anyone else. However, it can be tough for us to navigate romance. On one hand, being in a relationship is great because you have a good amount of intimate one-on-one time together. But then there are those times that are hard for the introverted partner (going out, serious conversations, trying new things) and it is important to have those discussions early in the relationship in order to avoid conflict. Protecting Your Solitude Feb 08, 2018

Solitude. You need it, I need it, everyone needs it. But we as introverts crave and celebrate it more than anything in this world. What is solitude, and why is it so important to protect it? Solitude is what most people call “me-time”, but it is so much more than that to people like me and you. It is the precious opportunity to curl up with a good book, toss on some headphones and get away from the busy-ness of the world (basically, it’s a way to tell everyone to leave us alone so we can breathe!). In today’s society, there is this crazy thought that everyone needs to be together all the time. But the truth is, we innovate so much better when we take a moment (or two, or three) to ourselves. It took me years to learn how to protect my solitude. And yes, I lost friends and things that I thought were important, but in the end, my quality of life outweighed the stress of trying to be “on” all the time. Introverts Across Cultures: South East Asia Dec 13, 2017

Introverts in the World: Aerial Dec 07, 2017

Honestly, what started me doing this site the way is now was someone asking me to do something different with them. I've always been the friend who was up to try anything. I've been to a dozen concerts of bands I've never heard of. I can truly say I've had the most fun because I've always been open to that. Its a strange thing to have some anxiety but really no shame. So I now try more things just to show other introverts that its not all bad. We can make fools of ourselves and survive.

Introverts and Dating: Poscast Episode 5 Nov 29, 2017

Man, the holiday season can be a mine field for single people. Intrusive questions from relatives. Office parties with horrifying small talk. That for some reason we're all suppose to be attached to someone at this time. I didn't know this time of year is also called the "Cuffing Season". Where people may stay with someone they're dating just to have a +1 for gatherings and events. This blows my mind. Dating is hard enough. Now you have to think that the person you've been seeing isn't as serious as you are and might dump you after the new year?

Kicking and Screaming Episode 4: Introversion vs Anxiety Nov 21, 2017

Man, the holiday season is upon us. Dun Dun DUUUUUUN. Ok, a little dramatic. But for those of us introverts and ones who have anxiety this time of year is a gauntlet. With all the extra obligations and responsibilities from friends, family, and work we need to guard ourselves. Strictly scheduling out time with people and time for ourselves. On top of that, any time you get with big groups a people there will be anxiety. Worrying about what people will say, what you will say, whether or not you're dating/getting married/pregnant/having another kid/ etc can raise your blood pressure.
