Either way, it's going to happen again. Steve Palazzolo, The 33rd Team joins us to try and explain some weirdness we're seeing around the NFL. Why is San Francisco struggling and will it continue? Furness Show 9-24: Jon Ryan, Joe Sheehan, Cougar Roundtable. Sep 24, 2024
    Show notes

The Mariners are still alive! Are we feeling differently about their chances after one great game against the Astros? Jon Ryan, Former Seahawks Punter tells Ian what the business of the NFL can be like, which is rough. He loves the game, but the other side of it can be harsh. The Seahawks are 3-0 - what is the mentality right now? Plus, Jon tells us what still makes a Monday Night Football game special. The Tigers are playing right now and we update you on what it means for the Mariners. Joe Sheehan, The Joe Sheehan Newsletter gives us his perspective on the Cy Young race right now. More importantly, what does the next week look like for the Mariners? The AL wild card is extremely hard to predict right now, which gives us a glimmer of hope for Seattle, whose team has had a great offensive September. Joe takes us around the league when it comes to the MLB postseason. The world of college football has turned into an out-of-control carousel, and we try to make sense of what's going on day to day. More news is out about the Pac-12. The Daily Power Play! The Cougar Roundtable! Alex Brink and Mkristo Bruce join to break down the Cougars double overtime win as they head to Boise this weekend at 4-0. They tell us what went into the coaching decisions and, even though Jake Dickert took the blame for the mishaps, the guys don't necessarily think the mistakes that happened are his fault.

Furness Show 9-23: Hugh Millen, Mollywhop Monday, Mike Sando. Sep 23, 2024
    Show notes

The Seahawks won in ugly, yet dominating fashion. Why is there such a lack of investment in running backs in the NFL right now? Seattle is extremely lucky to have Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh behind Ken Walker. Hugh Millen, Hardcore Football takes us through the Seahawks win over the Dolphins and, despite how dominating the score was, there are still pieces to critique. The depth the Seahawks have at running back doesn't mask the fact the team is missing Ken Walker. Hardcore Football continues with Hugh, who breaks down DK Metcalf's performance. Mollywhop Monday! Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop join Ian to tell us if the Mariners are dead, or just mostly dead. While it would be an immense pleasure to watch them play beyond the next week, we know enough about this team to not get too excited. Chris remains excited about the team, despite their uphill battle and the knowledge they're pretty much cooked. Nathan is less enthusiastic, stating we've been robbed of excitement throughout the latter half of this season. Mollywhop continues as we all agree that the division is out of hand. The guys tell us what would have to happen for the wild card...which would have to be a minor miracle. The Daily Power Play! Preseason games are fun, but the results truly don't matter. Also, Ian has something good. Mike Sando, The Athletic joins us to break down the week that was in the NFL. Scoring was down across the board, the Seahawks won big, but it wasn't their cleanest game. Sando takes us around the league and tells us the early trends and tone.

Furness Show 9-19: Stewart Mandel, Corbin Smith, Al Kinisky, Brandon Funston. Sep 20, 2024
    Show notes

The Mariners had to watch the Yankees celebrate a playoff berth on their field in another situation where an opportunity was squandered. Criticizing a player for a boneheaded play doesn't mean we don't like him. Players can do that in Seattle because there's a total lack of accountability. Stewart Mandel, The Athletic gives his instant reaction to the Cougs win in the Apple Cup and tells us why they're not ranked right now. Could the Pac-12 expand even more? Stewart tells us what Memphis and Tulane would consider if they're a target. Julio's gaffe was an example of a failure to focus, but there are way more important problems with this organization than what we saw last night. Corbin Smith, Seahawks Maven and Locked on Seahawks joins to breakdown exactly what happened in the Seahawks game and where he seems room for growth. Could Kenny McIntosh have some success in the run game last weekend? Corbin gives us some thoughts on who's getting healthier, and he's got a positive feeling about Abe Lucas once we're past game 4. The future of sports streaming is more viable than Ian previously thought and he's changing his tune on ways to consume it. However, it can't be only streaming in the future, in order to grow your conference. The Daily Power Play! Al Kinisky joins Ian to give some insight on Kraken training camp as we ramp up toward preseason starting on Sunday. Brandon Funston, The Athletic kicks off the unofficial start to the weekend! It's time for your fantasy football tuneup and Funston tells YOU what your roster entails in week 3.

Show notes Laviska Shenault, Seahawks WR joins Ian to talk about starting out 2-0, despite a far from perfect showing on the field. He also discusses his experience so far in Seattle and why he wanted to play here. The Mariners showed us who they are in horrendous fashion last night. Are the Mariners capable of making the playoffs? No. Just because they aren't mathematically eliminated doesn't mean they're capable. Steve Palazzolo, The 33rd Team joins us to give his grades on the Seahawks this past weekend and preview their matchup with the Dolphins. Steve takes us around the league with evaluation of the new quarterbacks we're seeing take the field. Finally, what does the NFC West look like so far? Dan Bylsma, Kraken Head Coach sits down with Ian at 32 Bar and Grill to discuss camp, his expectations of the team and which young guys he wants to see take a step forward. In addition, just days away from the preseason, how preparation has gone. The Daily Power Play continues with Dan Bylsma. Mike Holmgren joins Ian to take a look around the league at some of the surprises we've seen the first couple weeks, namely North Carolina benching Bryce Young. Coach shares his philosophy when it comes to quarterbacks. Coach tells us some great stories and gives his honest thoughts on the Seahawks offensive line so far.

Furness Show 9-17: Anne McCoy, Joe Sheehan, Jon Ryan, Cougs Roundtable. Sep 17, 2024
    Show notes

The Mariners still have life in both the AL West and the wild card - but the Yankees are still playing for something. Finding a quarterback in college football is hard. Anne McCoy, Washington State Athletic Director tells Ian what the Apple Cup was like for her in the first year she's at the helm for WSU Athletics. What does the future hold for that series? Anne dives into the Pac-12 expansion plan and how that came together. Anne shares the reaction from coaches when the realignment news came out. The TV element for the Pac-12 is crucial to what teams we'll see in the future. Joe Sheehan, The Joe Sheehan Newsletter tells Ian what the Mariners have to do to make the postseason this year, as well as the teams they'll be battling with down the stretch. Where are the Mariners when it comes to organizational confidence? Jon Ryan, Former Seahawks and Pickles Owner joins the show The Daily Power Play! And "Something Good". The Cougar Roundtable with Alex Brink and Mkristo Bruce!

Furness Show 9-16: Hugh Millen, Eddie Olczyk, Molly Whop Monday, Mike Sando. Sep 17, 2024
    Show notes

Seahawks won and proved that good coaching actually wins. Ryan Grubb proved he can adjust a gameplan on the fly. Cougs win the Apple Cup and victory is back on the Palouse. There's a lot of room for improvement, but playing below their capability, they still start the season 2-0. Hardcore Football with Hugh Millen! Hugh starts things out with an in-depth breakdown of the final play call of the Apple Cup. The play was so bad already that Hugh can't believe Jedd Fisch took a timeout and still ended up with that play. Hugh has some very strong opinions on this. Hugh continues with us and discusses what he saw from Geno Smith in the Seahawks win yesterday. Mollywhop Monday! Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop join Ian to give an honest assessment of the Mariners' chances at the postseason this year, which are looking slim to none. They have to either sweep the next to series or at least go 5-1. Plus, is Julio's season really as bad as people seem to complain about? Or does the blame of a season just fall on the superstar every time? Hugh Millen gave us a very in-depth look at how Jedd Fisch was outcoached in the Apple Cup and we relive what happened in the Apple Cup. The Daily Power Play! Eddie Olczyk joins us to talk about some new and exciting happenings with the Kraken. Ian's got a brand new role! Mike Sando, The Athletic joins to explain how the Seahawks succeeded in New England as well as a look around the league and what the chaos in the NFL means as we get ready for week 3. We discuss his pick-6 column as well.
