Furness Show 10-14: NBA in Seattle, Hugh Millen, Mike Sando. Oct 14, 2024
    Show notes

There's a lot to revisit from the weekend. While the Seahawks didn't play this weekend, the NFC saw some serious implications yesterday. The NBA came to town on Friday and Ian won't attend a game until the Sonics officially return. Jess was there and tells us what it was like. This city doesn't need to prove anything to the league, and Ian is sick of people taking credit for the Sonics return when those behind the scenes actually get it done. The Daily Power Play! Hardcore Football with Hugh Millen! Hugh is vehement that Geno Smith was not throwing shade at DK Metcalf in his 'watch the film' postgame press conference. He gives an honest assessment of Geno's performance 6 games through the season. Hardcore Football with Hugh continues and he assigns the blame card among players for the mistakes we saw on Thursday. Plus, reaction to the Seahawks most recent trade. Hugh takes questions from listeners. Mike Sando, The Athletic takes us on a trip around the league - it's week 7 and it's about time we can determine teams' identities. We also cover all the headlines from the weekend that was. Finally, where do the Seahawks stand at 3-3 and how do they move forward?

Furness Show 10-7: Hugh Millen, Hockey Roundtable and Mike Sando Oct 07, 2024
    Show notes

Do we really need to relive the Seahawks loss yesterday? Well, yes, we do. It wasn't pretty in any way, shape or form - and it's quite a feat for them to actually be in it until the end. Hardcore Football with Hugh Millen! Hugh woke up at 4am today to watch the coach's film from yesterday's Seahawks game and it wasn't any prettier than what we all saw yesterday. He breaks it all down for us and gives some insight on the most impactful plays of the game. Plus, why didn't we see Kenneth Walker? Hardcore Football with Hugh continues with a breakdown of the run defense. The Seahawks just had a bad day yesterday. We're not sure what to expect next with this team after that loss, especially on a short week. Ian updates the injuries Mike Macdonald just told us about in his press conference. Darren Brown, Sound of Hockey and Curtis Crabtree, FOX 13 join Ian to preview the Kraken home opener tomorrow against the Blues. What do the lines look like and what are we expecting from the combinations? The Daily Power Play! Mike Sando, The Athletic gives a quick preview of tonight's Monday Night game. When looking at the Seahawks' season to start the year, he would've thought a 3-2 start would be ok. However, you can't lose that Giants game. If they win on Thursday night, things will be ok. We take a trip around the league for the latest headlines.

Furness Show 10-4: Danny O'Neil, Greg Cosell, Tim Booth, Rob Rang. Oct 04, 2024
    Show notes

NLDS is set up for success from a viewing position. Baseball season doesn't seem to be disappointing so far. Ian had a hell of a last night and morning, but he's here! Danny O'Neil, The Dang Apostrophe gives us a first-person look at what UW @ Rutgers looked like last weekend. Although the result was what it was, he came away with more of a positive attitude than not. Danny also shares his thoughts on Jedd Fisch as the head coach of UW so far, which is more positive than others might see it. Danny has no worries about Ryan Grubb in the NFL and that is evidenced by the Seahawks' offense succeeding despite the issues on the offensive line. John Stanton did speak to the media, but only the MLB owned site. Ian gets it, but does know that there's not going to be an independent voice there. It's not acceptable for the team to dodge the mainstream media. Greg Cosell, NFL Films gives an intense deep dive into the Seahawks through 4 games and what takeaways we can gather from the loss in Detroit. As only he can, Greg tells us what the tape says! Plus, a preview of the Giants game this weekend, as New York is down one Malik Nabers. Tim Booth joins Ian to talk about his next chapter in sports writing after over a decade with the Associated Press. He discusses his new role with the Seattle Times, which includes Kraken coverage and the future NBA team here in Seattle. He also shares his most memorable experiences throughout his time with the AP. The Daily Power Play! Rob Rang, FOX Sports and The BC Lions has all the insights on what we saw last weekend from local teams in college football, a look ahead to this weekend and which players to watch for as we enter week six of the NCAA season.

Furness Show 10-3: AJ Barner, Stewart Mandel, Corbin Smith, Brandon Funston. Oct 03, 2024
Show notes AJ Barner, Seahawks TE joins Ian to talk about his experience getting more involved in the offense over the past few games. As much as it was gratifying to score in Detroit, he has no plans to remain satisfied. He also tells us what a short week means on the body and the mentality for a player. He also previews what he sees happening in the Michigan vs. UW game this weekend. Stewart Mandel, The Athletic joins Ian to break down what we saw in last weekend in college football, the new realignment of the Pac-12 and who we might see flirting with the newly revamped conference in the near future. Plus, a preview of the 'National Championship Rematch' this weekend between UW and Michigan. Is the Michigan vs. UW game really a rematch? Corbin Smith, Seahawks Maven and Locked on Seahawks joins us to talk about the positives we can take away from the first Seahawks loss of the season. Geno Smith is emerging better at this point in his career than we've ever seen from him. Plus, the lacking on the defensive side was most certainly due to those who were out with injury, but even with that, we saw some great strides. Is Ryan Grubb finally the guy knows how to use DK Metcalf? AJ Hinch made some remarks yesterday after the Tigers took out the Astros and we harken back to whether the Mariners poor play was a catalyst for Detroit's resurgence in the latter part of the season. The Daily Power Play! Brandon Funston, The Athletic gives us the unofficial start to the weekend as we prepare for YOUR fantasy performance. Funston graciously answers all the questions you have.

What do these deals truly mean and how strong is the commitment when signed? Gary Parrish, CBS Sports reacts to the Zags joining the Pac-12. How big is this for the conference and what does it do for Gonzaga moving forward? Gary thinks it made way more sense for Memphis to join the Pac-12 than not. He hopes to see them make a move in the future. We react to Gary Parrish's thoughts on the latest movement in college basketball. Steve Palazzolo, The 33rd Team tells us what he saw on tape from the Seahawks game against the Lions on Monday. Can we be as encouraged as we felt by the offense, and with so many out on defense this week, are there concerns? Seahawks Head Coach Mike Macdonald spoke to the media earlier today and we take a listen to what he expects moving forward after his first loss with the team. Ian wants to know what fans think of Mike Macdonald so far. Mike Holmgren, Legendary NFL Coach is impressed by Geno Smith's performance, even in a game where they lost. If Geno gets a little more protection up front, he could do something special this season. Coach tells us some stories of his own time that relate to what the Seahawks are going through right now.

Furness Show 10-1: Jon Ryan, Joe Sheehan, Cougar Roundtable. Oct 01, 2024
    Show notes

Ian almost bailed on the show today once his keycard didn't work, but Jess is on it. Gonzaga basketball is the biggest athletics brand in the state, and joining the Pac-12 truly legitimizes the conference in basketball. The Seahawks might've lost last night, but we saw a lot of progress. Ian explains why you should be encouraged. Jon Ryan, Former Seahawk Punter gives his take on what the Seahawks lockerroom is like after a loss, however, how encouraged he was by the offensive resurgence. How critical is a top tier quarterback and where is Geno Smith right now when it comes to being one of the best in the league? Jon also tells us what he thinks of DK Metcalf and how the fumble, although bad, doesn't take away from how great he is. Where do you stand on Pete Rose after his passing? Ian shares his take. Joe Sheehan, The Joe Sheehan Newsletter tells us what he thinks about Pete Rose following his passing and how it compares to other 'rule breakers'. What's the feeling on the future of the Mariners, as we're watching postseason baseball without them? Joe flat out says Jerry Dipoto made the offense worse and that's why the Mariners missed the playoffs. He also tells us the bullpen is more important than the starting rotation in the postseason. Pete Rose passed away and we discuss the embattled path he was on in baseball. Should he be in the Hall of Fame? Where does his misstep lie in baseball history? The Daily Power Play! The Cougar Roundtable! Alex Brink and Mkristo Bruce tell Ian what went wrong for the Cougs on Saturday Night. What happened and how do they treat this bye week to prevent the wheels from coming off like they did after the bye last year?

Furness Show 9-30: Greg Cosell, Molly Whop Monday, Mike Sando. Sep 30, 2024
    Show notes

The Seahawks are up against it in Detroit, and as comfortable as Geno Smith is there, the defensive lineup is decimated enough to worry about. Ian also has some things to say about the Mariners. Greg Cosell, NFL Films joins us to preview the Seahawks in Detroit on Monday Night Football tonight. What pitfalls could Seattle encounter, especially considering the defensive players that are out? The Mets and Braves are currently playing in an epic game that bitterly reminds us of what could have been with the Mariners. Mollywhop Monday! Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop break down the season that was. Nathan says he knows he'll get the baseball itch next spring, but also that people are burnt out from this season and those that preceded. Chris takes us through all of the games that could've made a difference this season. The guys weigh in on exactly what went wrong this year. Chris and Nathan tell us where this season ranks among disappointment in Mariners' history. We put a final wrap on the Mariners season and what to look for (or not) in the future. Mike Sando, The Athletic gives us a preview of the Seahawks in Detroit tonight, plus a trip around the NFC and the trends we're seeing in the first four weeks of the season. Sando takes a deep dive into his research to tell us what we're seeing around the league in quarterback play. Also, there are some running backs (ahem, Derrick Henry) that have legs beyond their projected expectancy.
