E52 - Naming Your Podcast - The Podcast Owner's Manual Mini Series

Part 2 of our Podcast Owner's Manual Mini-Series looks at...

Naming your Podcast – what are you going to call it??

When naming your podcast, it's important to consider the following:

    1. Relevance: Choose a name that is relevant to your podcast's content and theme. This will help your audience understand what they can expect from your show.
    2. Memorable: Choose a name that is easy to remember and spell. This will make it easier for your audience to find your podcast and recommend it to others.
    3. Short and sweet: A shorter name is generally easier to remember and will be more memorable to your audience.
    4. Unique: Try to come up with a name that is unique and distinguishes your podcast from others in your field.
    5. Avoid puns or wordplay: While puns and wordplay can be funny, they can also be confusing and hard to remember. It's generally best to avoid them in your podcast name.
    6. Check for trademark issues: Before finalizing your podcast name, be sure to do a trademark search to make sure it isn't already in use. You don't want to choose a name that could get you into legal trouble down the line.

Overall, it's important to choose a name that is relevant, memorable, and unique. It should accurately reflect the content and theme of your podcast and be easy for your audience to remember.

If you need help with your podcast plans, if you want to bounce your podcast name ideas off someone and get a second opinion, or you just need podcast advice without the snarky comments - head over to our podcast and get the answers you need to move forward with your podcast today!

E51 - Nail Down Your Topic - The Podcast Owner's Manual Mini Series

Welcome to our Podcast Owner's Manual Mini Series - Part 1

Nail Down Your Topic you have to have something to podcast about

Choosing a topic for your content can be challenging, but here are a few things you can consider to help you decide:

    1. Think about your passions and interests. What are you knowledgeable about or interested in learning more about? Chances are, if you are passionate about a subject, you will be more motivated to create content about it.
    2. Consider your target audience. Who do you want to reach with your content? What topics would be of interest to them?
    3. Look at what's popular. What are people talking about or interested in right now? You don't necessarily want to follow trends blindly, but it can be helpful to know what's currently popular in your field.
    4. Do some research. Look at other content in your industry and see what topics are being covered. You don't want to copy what others are doing, but you can get ideas and see what gaps in the market exist that you could potentially fill.
    5. Test out a few ideas. If you're still unsure, try creating some content on a few different topics and see how it is received. This can help you gauge what resonates with your audience and what doesn't.

Ultimately, the best topic for your content will depend on your interests, audience, and goals. It's important to choose a topic that you are knowledgeable about and can create meaningful content for.

E50 - Six tips to follow to make your content concise - what if we had a limited amount of words

Imagine a world where there was a limit to the total number of words that you could use in one day - the play Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons, Lemons shares a world with a word limit! You’re going to speak more than 123 million words in your lifetime. What will you do when they run out?

Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons is a tender and funny rom-com about what we say, how we say it, and what happens when we can’t say anything anymore.

Let's apply this imagined word limit to our podcast - what would you do if you only could use a certain number of words in your podcast? What would you trim, what would you leave out, how could you say what you want to say in a more concise manner - what would you do if your words mattered? But they do!

Here are 6 tips for new podcasters to create clear and organized content:

    1. Start with a clear plan: Before recording, write an outline of what you want to cover in the episode. This will keep you on track during recording and make sure all important points are covered.
    2. Use easy to follow language: Speak clearly and use simple language that is easy for your audience to understand.
    3. Keep it short: People's attention span is short, try to keep your episodes as short as possible while still covering important information.
    4. Edit your podcast: Listen to your recording and make changes to improve the overall quality of the episode before publishing.
    5. Add value: Always make sure to provide your audience with useful and interesting information.
    6. Get feedback: Listen to your listeners feedback, it can give you an idea of what they want to know and what they think about your podcast.

By following these simple tips, you'll be able to create clear and organized content that will be valuable for your listeners. Remember, it takes time to perfect your podcast and improve it, but with practice and dedication you will get better over time.

E48 - Chat GPT, Voice A I example and a new monthly zoom group invite for you

We are starting a monthly Zoom Podcast Hang out starting in February 2023 on the first Friday of each month starting at 10 am est

Why 10 am? I will be getting home from working an overnight shift, so we will try this time slot for now and adjust/add to it depending on your response!

If 1 person attends - great, more than one great!

In preparing for this monthly get together, I wanted to play with Chat GPT
I asked Chat GPT - Why is building community important in podcasting?
Here was the response from Chat GPT to my question,

"Building a community around your podcast can be beneficial for a number of reasons.
First and foremost, having a community of listeners can help to build a sense of loyalty and engagement with your show.
When listeners feel like they are part of a community, they are more likely to continue listening to your podcast and to recommend it to others.
Additionally, having a community can provide a source of feedback and ideas for future episodes.
This can help to keep your content fresh and relevant, and can also help to ensure that you are meeting the needs and interests of your listeners.
Finally, a strong community can serve as a source of support and encouragement, which can be especially important if you are just starting out as a podcaster."
I went a step further and asked Chat GPT to apply their answer to a group zoom call for podcasters.

I asked Chat GPT the following...
"How do we do this on a zoom group chat?"
Here was the response from Chat GPT
There are several ways that you can build community within a Zoom group chat:
    1. Encourage participation:
Encourage group members to ask questions, share their thoughts, and engage in discussions.
    2. Foster a sense of inclusivity:
Make sure that everyone feels welcome and valued within the group.
    3. Be responsive:
Be sure to respond to questions and comments in a timely manner, and encourage other group members to do the same.
    4. Encourage sharing:
Encourage group members to share resources, recommendations, and other relevant information with one another.
    5. Create a sense of belonging:
Help group members feel like they are part of a shared experience by using in-jokes, inside jokes, and other shared experiences.
    6. Plan regular events:
Consider organizing regular events or activities, such as virtual happy hours or book clubs, to help build a sense of community within the group.
    7. Make it fun:
Find ways to make the group chat enjoyable and engaging for all participants.
By following these tips, you can help to create a sense of community and belonging within your Zoom group chat.
So, that 's it - Chat GPT can be a great starting point for creating ideas for content - just remember, people are listening to your podcast to connect with you - not a podcast created by a software tool.
