    Chad Carlsen started The Hopeaholics Podcast after his soon-to-be son-in-law died of fentanyl poisoning. Not as therapy. As a response to a crisis that kills tens of thousands of people a year while most of the country looks the other way.

The inspiration for the podcast comes from Chad’s background in addiction treatment and personal experience, as well as his daughter’s discovery of her fiancé who had died from fentanyl poisoning. The podcast hopes to gain a large enough following to make change at the highest level, including Congress. Fentanyl is the number one cause of death for people aged 16 to 28, including those who are trying the drug for the first time. The impact of drugs globally is also discussed, with 300 people per day in the US dying from fentanyl poisoning alone.
