    The Holistic Hippie Podcast

Welcome to The Holistic Hippie Podcast — a space for honest conversations about awakening, healing, and becoming fully human in a rapidly changing world.

Hosted by Jessi — holistic nutritionist, yoga teacher and teacher trainer, Reiki practitioner, past-life regressionist, and lifelong student of consciousness — this podcast explores the intersection of spirituality, philosophy, and personal transformation. Blending ancient yogic wisdom with modern self-development, each episode invites listeners into deeper self-inquiry, meaningful growth, and embodied living.

This is not a surface-level wellness show. Here, spirituality meets real life. Expect conversations on consciousness, shadow work, purpose, healing, relationships, nervous system regulation, intuitive development, and the courage it takes to evolve. Jessi shares openly from her own lived experiences — including her journey through physical and mental health challenges — offering grounded insight, practical tools, and compassionate encouragement along the way.

Rooted in yoga philosophy and holistic wellness principles, the podcast is equal parts motivational, reflective, and soul-expanding. Whether through solo reflections, teachings, or deep conversations, each episode is an invitation to slow down, question conditioning, reconnect with your inner wisdom, and participate in conscious growth alongside a like-hearted community.

If you’re ready to move beyond survival, reclaim responsibility for your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing, and explore what it truly means to live with presence and purpose — you’re in the right place.

In this episode I talk about the myriad of ways that we can begin to shift our perception to see our diet and way of eating as a spiritual practice, and also to consider our diet to encompass everything we consume including media, music, conversation, thought forms, etc. I cover a number of different ways that I began looking at diet differently and offer advice on little shifts that you can make to start seeing things a bit differently. To master the diet is truly to master the mind, and so diet is a very relevant way to practice mindfulness. Our paradigm needs to shift from the idea that a healthy diet is a restrictive diet. Consider that our conventional and highly processed & refined diet is actively restricting the body of nutrients daily while making improvements to the diet to include whole foods is actually rewarding the body with essential nutrients and life force. Making these small shifts internally are very powerful when it comes to making any lasting changes in our lives since often how we do one thing is how we do all things.

    Episode 6: Dietary Dogma May 30, 2020
    Show notes

    Send a text

In this episode, I talk about my journey with diet including my experience with disordered eating patterns like binging & purging, dietary yo-yo-ing, orthorexia, food addiction, etc. This episode might be potentially triggering to anyone who has dealt with the above, so please be mindful of this before listening. I wanted to walk you through a bit of my dietary journey in order to use this episode as a point of reference in discussing how diet has become a spiritual practice for me. This episode serves as a perfect segway for the next episode, and I believe that my story is something many can relate to when it comes to food and eating. As always, if this episode resonates with you please feel free to reach out and connect with me. I do believe that so many of us deal with similar situations, and having these conversations is so medicinal to bring what was once in the darkness to light so it can be seen and fully healed. See you next time! Love & Light xx

    Episode 5: A Spiritual Path Pt. 2 Apr 28, 2020
    Show notes

    Send a text

This episode is a continuation of part 1 - it took me a while to finally record it, but here it is. In this episode, I answer some specific questions that I get about how to navigate certain challenges on your spiritual path, and I further discuss what it means to truly embark on a path like this. We talk about self-righteousness, about social programming and conditioning, and learning from your thoughts, emotions, experiences, and feelings instead of identifying as them or making them a part of who you think you are, or your sense of I.
Remember - everything in this life is happening for you, not to you. This is a tough paradigm to swallow, but when you can accept this into your experience, you begin to see the beautiful ways in which you can grow & learn from absolutely everything. In this way, there is nothing in your life that is not part of your spiritual development. Personally, I think that makes life pretty exciting. As always - thank you for listening! Please feel free to share your thoughts & insights & questions with me via FB or IG - I love connecting with like-minded souls on this exciting human adventure.
    Peace & Love
    xx Jessi

    Episode 4: A Spiritual Path Pt. 1 Mar 31, 2020
    Show notes

What does it mean to be on a spiritual path and how would one get started? In this episode, I talk about my own personal journey towards spirituality, being born & raised in a Christian household, and how I rejected religion only to come full circle on my own spiritual path. This episode opens us up to talking about spirituality and gives way to part 2 of this podcast, which will be more of a Q & A. Drop a comment or DM on IG or FB to have your questions answered in the next episode. As we embark on our own divine and completely personal journey, I urge you to keep your heart & mind open. To never think you have "arrived" and to always be seeking Truth while holding so much compassion and respect to the way others choose to navigate spirituality for themselves.

Episode 3: Be The Change Mar 24, 2020
    Show notes

With so much going on in the world right now with the global crisis we have found ourselves in, I've been reminded in the midst of this sense of helplessness that there is always, always, always something we can do. In this particular case, it isn't so much about doing but more so about being.
In this short episode, I explore the simplicity and yet deeply profound instruction from Gandhi to "Be the change you wish to see in the world." What does this mean and how can we embody it in modern-day life? Let's dive deeper into the way our thoughts and feelings create our reality, and how Being the change requires us to be present moment-to-moment to every thought form, belief, judgement, opinion, so that we may align our state of being with that which we wish to see in the world.

    Episode 2: Understanding Ego Mar 17, 2020
    Show notes

    Send a text

In this episode, I wanted to introduce the concept of Ego, explaining what it is and how we can use it to help us along our path of growth and expansion. Ego is a topic that will continue to be brought into future episodes & conversations, and so I thought it was important to introduce and explain it at length before continuing to reference it.
    Episode notes:

    • Derived from 19th-century Latin, translating as I (sense of self)
    • Sigmund Freud’s theory on id, ego, and superego looking at these 3 layers of self in that the id is our most primal, deep-rooted instincts to seek pleasure & avoid pain, stored deeply in the subconscious. Ego, he says, acts as a buffer between the id and reality, and the superego is ruled by social conditioning.
    • Carl Jung’s theory on ego merges with Eastern philosophies and says this “Anyone who has any ego-consciousness at all takes it for granted that he knows himself. But the ego knows only its own contents, not the unconscious and its contents.” Carl Jung, The Undiscovered Self.
    • Eckhart Tolle, the author of The Power of Now and A New Earth, writes extensively about ego & quotes “Give up defining yourself – to yourself or to others. You won’t die. You will come to life. And don’t be concerned with how others define you. When they define you, they are limiting themselves, so it’s their problem. Whenever you interact with people, don’t be there primarily as a function or a role, but as the field of conscious Presence. You can only lose something that you have, but you cannot lose something that you are.” Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth
    • Basically, whatever comes into your mind when you are thinking of yourself, is your ego. The ways in which you define yourself, all of your experiences, your perceptions, the way you see yourself, the way you see others - your ego colours the lens of your perception. Your ideas about yourself, beliefs, ideologies, afflictions, desires, social status, fears, likes, dislikes - ALL EGO

After recording & re-recording and getting in my head about how I need to learn how to professionally edit and produce a podcast, I realized that this was actually a pretty inauthentic way for me to approach podcasting. In life, I show up as raw, unfiltered and unedited and so I realized that I could do the exact same thing for my show.
SO here it is. Raw. Unfiltered. Unedited. This episode sort of introduces who I am, what I do, how my journey started and what to expect from this show. I have been on a deeply transformative and healing journey for over a decade and it is my intention to open up a dialogue with each and every one of you that we might connect, learn from, and be inspired by one another on our individually divine journies. This podcast is just as much for me as it is for you as sharing and opening ourselves up to be vulnerable with one another is so healing in and of itself.
This is the start of a long journey and I am looking so forward to building a conscious community and moving forward collectively. Join me on The Journey Inwards - a theme for this podcast and for my upcoming Yoga & Holistic Wellness retreat in Costa Rica November 2020 (check website or instagram for more details!)
