    Take a Break Sep 23, 2021
    Show notes

When was the last time you took a break?

No, really, I want to know. When was the last time you stepped away from your work? Read a book? Took a nap? Spent an entire afternoon binge watching your favorite show?

When you are running your own business, you feel like nothing will get done if you don’t just do it. So you do. You sit on your computer all day trying to get that blog post written, that sales page designed, that new offer developed.

You get frustrated when it takes longer than you think it should. And you make mistakes.

You reach a point of overwhelm. Nothing is going right, you’re burnt out, and you want to run away.

    But you don’t.

    You keep working.

    You keep trying.

    You don’t stop.

And then you’re so overwhelmed, so burnt out, that you decide you have to run away. You should probably just take a month off. You need to put your business on hold and tell your audience that you will be gone for a while. You need to take a huge step back. Right?

    Wrong.

This week on the podcast I’m sharing the three main things that let us know it’s time to take a break. And I’m sharing what to do when these problems start creeping up in your life and your business.

Tune in so you can begin to notice these red flags and TAKE A FUCKING BREAK (before you hit the point of wanting to burn your business to the ground).

    SHOW NOTES

Does change have to mean loss?

Anytime you change anything in your business, you are bound to lose customers. Read that again. Then take a deep breath, because it’s okay.

Change is good. Especially when these changes are helping you to align your business with your goals.

This week on Quick Coaching with Sarah, we are talking about transitions within your business. We discuss what you can do to prepare your audience (and yourself) for upcoming changes.

    We answer:

1:13 – How can I transition from a sliding scale to a flat rate fee without losing folks?

    Are You a Scammer? Sep 16, 2021
    Show notes

    Are you ripping people off?

Many of the people I work with have a huge fear of being a scammer. Being a spiritual entrepreneur, it’s common to have a heightened awareness of ethics that can lead you to regularly questioning yourself, undervaluing yourself, and worrying that you’re taking advantage of people.

You spend your time honing your skills, practicing on friends, perfecting your craft. Then you go out into the world and struggle to charge for your offers. You can’t possibly fathom that someone would want to spend their money with you.

    You aren’t worth it.

You haven’t been practicing for long enough.

Your work has been a hobby for so long, no one will pay for it.

No one wants what you have to offer.

And once they do buy? Panic sets in. What if they realize you’re not good enough? What if they don’t get what they paid for? What if you’re taking advantage of them? What if you overcharged? What if you can’t deliver?

What if you are a scammer?

Lucky for you, I was just scammed, and feel pretty darn clear on this topic! This week I’m walking you through every step of how I got scammed by a moving company so you can finally understand what an intentional scam looks like and how it might appear in a small business like yours.

Tune in so you can step back, look at the ethics in your business, and discover if you truly are a scammer. (Hint: you’re not!)

    SHOW NOTES

    2:10 – I just got scammed

7:45 – Breaking down intentional scams

21:00 – The importance of clear communication

24:00 – Delivering the service that was paid for

Developmental Trauma with Fanny Priest Sep 02, 2021
    Show notes

    You deserve to feel safe.

Trauma awareness is at an all time high. Or, more accurately, the use of the word has become extremely common. But that doesn’t mean we have a strong working understanding of the different types and definitions of trauma and how they may impact our daily lives.

    So, what is trauma?

What would be possible if we acknowledged, understood, and repaired our trauma?

This week on the podcast, I’m delighted to talk with Fanny Priest. Fanny is a trauma repair & self-trust coach, and a reluctant expert on discomfort. She helps healers, feelers, queers, and creatives repair the rupture in the relationship with their true self so they feel safe with their bodies, feelings, and needs.

In this episode, Fanny defines developmental trauma and discusses the role it may be playing in your life. Fanny and I talk about the challenges that arise when we do mindset work without trauma repair. We talk about how to create this repair in the context of business, so you can do the work you’re meant to do in the world.

Without acknowledging and repairing trauma, you are essentially engaging with the world through the eyes of a young child: alone, disconnected, and without agency.

Tune in this week so you can begin to notice the role trauma plays in your life and walk away with an action plan to start repairing your relationship with your true self today.

    SHOW NOTES

2:52 – What is developmental trauma?

9:30 – How mindset work may be replicating the conditions of trauma

20:00 – How does trauma repair work with agency?

31:28 – How can we create this level of repair within business?

45:05 – What is one thing that entrepreneurs could do today to feel more safe?

    Why aren’t you selling?

It’s easy to tell people how much you believe in your products or services. It’s easy to share how many PDFs come in your course. It’s easy to explain how much it would mean to you to make a sale.

But none of this is going to get you the sale.

In this week’s quick coaching episode we’re talking about effective marketing communication and so much more. Tune in so you can sell out your offer.

    How I Became a Business Coach Aug 26, 2021
    Show notes

You could go to school for two years for an MBA and still not be an entrepreneur. In fact, I might argue that an MBA doesn’t even prepare you to navigate the world of small business.

    So what does?

    Experience.

I’ve been experiencing the business world since I got my first part-time job at 14. And every job and club and activity and interest I pursued since then made me the business coach I am today.

But I didn’t want to become a business coach.

After years of working in marketing, I actually tried to leave that world behind.

I went to work for myself as a tarot reader and herbalist, and you know what happened? People kept coming to me for business advice. What shone through as I was promoting my courses and products were my business and marketing skills, and that’s what folks really needed from me.

Often, if you take a step back, you’ll see that the jobs you’ve held, the clubs you’ve been in, and the recreational activities you’ve chosen combine to give you an incredibly unique skill set. One that makes you perfect for a job you may not even know you want.

In this episode I talk about the life and work experiences that got me to where I am today, and the ongoing learning that goes into successfully coaching business owners.

Tune in so you can take a step back, review your own life experiences, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll discover a set of skills and a future that you hadn’t even thought to dream of.

    Instagram is not a strategy.

Every week we get questions about Instagram from frustrated IG users like you who aren’t seeing the results they want. This makes sense, because I’m hosting this coaching session on Instagram. But what if I told you that Instagram isn’t the problem? That the algorithms are not out to get you? That more followers doesn’t equal more sales?

This week I’m here to tell you what the real problem is so you can realign your relationship with Instagram and get serious about strategy.

    Who are you reaching?

Everyone talks about building audiences for their business, but shaping your audience is just as important. Quality over quantity, folks! WHO you are reaching with your business and WHAT you do once you have their attention is more important than having a long mailing list or watching your followers count rise.

When you think about your audience, are you remembering to focus on the customers and community you already have?

    SHOW NOTES

    1:47–How do I hire a virtual assistant?

9:40–The difference between a contractor and an employee

15:14–How do I grow an audience of people who actually buy my shit?
