    HTWDT - Episode 14: Saw (2004) and Heretic (2024) Mar 02, 2025
    Show notes

On this episode, we take a class in low-budget filmmaking and discuss Saw (2004), which at the time was the directorial debut of James Wan. Who has since become one of the 4 basic food groups of horror. It was also the writing and acting debut of Leigh Whannel, who's gone on to be heavily involved in so many Wan and Blumhouse projects.
After escaping the Saw trap. We discuss a movie about everyone's favorite and calming subject...religion! Of course, it's Last year's Heretic starring the always cheeky and loveable Hugh Grant in a less than loveable and cheeky role...depending on how you look at it. Let us know what you think! Also, at the end, we mention the voting for our version of March Madness its the Bracket Bloodbath. Voting is happening all month on all our socials as well as Discord. Join our patreon (even at the free level) for access to Discord.

    HTWDT - Episode 13: Maximum Overdrive (1986) and Y2K (2024) Feb 16, 2025
    Show notes

Hey fans! Here is your bi-monthly slice of humor and movie reviews. We had a real good time on this one we actually had to stop twice because we were laughing too hard. You'll probably know when; it's absurd. We apologize in advance for the sophomoric humor we dove into. What's there to say about Stephen King's only movie he's ever directed? Well, apparently a lot. Maximum Overdrive is unabashedly in the so bad it's good category. A little movie about what if Trucks and "certain" machines rose up against us... In our second movie, we talk about SNL alum Kyle Mooney's Y2K, a brand new horror comedy about what if Y2K really happened and the machines did try to kill us all. I think you can see why we chose these movies to pair together. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. Enjoy and let us know in the comments what you think!

HTWDT - Episode 11: The Host (2006) and Godzilla Minus One (2024) Jan 19, 2025
    Show notes

Hey everyone! We have a special guest in the studio! A few months back, we were on comedian Dana Gould's podcast, The Dana Gould Hour, during his Halloween episode, so we invited him to join us here and asked him what he would like to review. Dana chose last year's Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One, and we paired it with The Host, a Korean monster movie from 2006, which we all thought worked pretty well. This is the result of that night in the studio! As usual, send any fan or hate mail to thewholedamnthing13@gmail.com

    HTWDT - Episode 10: Species (1995) and Cuckoo (2024) Jan 05, 2025
    Show notes

Hey, it's our tenth episode and our first of 2025! Also our first little milestone! We think these two movies oddly enough go pretty well together. There are lots of behind-the-scenes tidbits in this episode regarding (1995) Species. We also discuss Michael Madsen turned up to 11, What's in the Species hot tub? Why this movie's special effects were innovative. In the second half, we get into the nuttiness of Tillman Singer's (2024) Cuckoo, which a lot of people have been talking about. Lots of laughs in this one. Keep an eye on our Instagram for some fun clips of that plastic bag tech producers are paying so much money for.
