#167 Jesse Winker Fought the Angels, Trade Deadline is Coming, Mark Appel Finally Made It, Oneil Cruz is Insane, and Freeman Could Have Stayed in ATL Jul 01, 2022

This week tensions were high between the Angels and Mariners as Jesse Winker tried to fight the entire team after getting drilled by a pitch. 2013 first round pick Mark Appel made his MLB debut this week and the baseball world rejoiced. Pirates rookie Oneil Cruz has been insane so far and he is only getting better. Plus, some very interesting news on Freddie Freeman and his contract talks with Atlanta.

This week in baseball we had our first manager firings of the year. Joe Maddon and Joe Girardi both got canned this week after both their teams went through some bad stretches. John Means tossed a No Hitter this week and came SO close to a perfect game with only one runner reaching on a passed ball strike out. Yankee fans finally got to let the Astros know their thoughts on the cheating scandal and they definitely made the most of it. The Yanks bats are waking up as well with Stanton now on a 12 game hitting streak. The Dodgers are now 2-8 in their last 10 and just had a huge loss with Dustin May needing Tommy John surgery. Shohei Ohtani stays hot now tied for the league lead in HRs and his pitching stats are very interesting so far. We break it all down.
