    Former fighter pilot and attorney – Greg Krino – helps you become smart on the subjects of law and war, by having long-form discussions with people who fight in those arenas. Whether you’re looking to advance your career, enhance your understanding of the world, or improve your life in general, this show has it all. Greg has 22 years of experience in the Air Force, including numerous deployments and combat time in fighter aircraft. He ran for political office years ago, he practices law part time, and he currently flies for a major airline.

    Ivan Ingraham is a 24-year US Marine Corps veteran who retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served in Marine Infantry, Reconnaissance, and Special Operations units and has world-wide deployment experience across a breadth of operational environments. In this episode, we discuss how to lead during a crisis, and Ivan describes his harrowing combat experience with A-10s in Afghanistan.

    Flying the F-111 in Cold War Europe, supporting veterans, and accountability for Afghanistan with Doug Huberman Mar 28, 2022

    Doug Huberman flew the F-111 in Europe during the Cold War in the 1980s, where he also served as the US liaison for the French, British, and German ministries of defense. Shortly after that assignment, he became a professor of economics at the US Air Force Academy. Currently, he serves as board chairman for the Diavolo Veterans Project - a dance theater organization that features professional dancers alongside veterans who are recovering from post-traumatic stress. In this episode, Doug details his experience flying in Europe, his work with our European partners, and his prescription for how the Afghanistan withdrawal should have gone. Doug is active on Twitter @NE1honest and he will soon start a podcast called, "Man in the Middle."

    Suicide in the military, and misremembering the Holocaust with experimental psychologist Dr. George Mastroianni Mar 21, 2022

    Dr. George Mastroianni retired from the US Army where he was an experimental psychologist. Currently, he is a professor emeritus at the US Air Force Academy in the behavioral sciences. He has written several books: (1) A Warrior's Guide to Psychology and Performance; (2) Of Mind and Murder: Toward a More Comprehensive Psychology of the Holocaust; (3) Misremembering the Holocaust: The Liberation of Buchenwald and the Limits of Memory; and (4) Rumors of Injustice: The Cases of Ilse Koch and Rudolph Spanner. He also posts on his Times of Israelblog. In this episode, we discuss his articles, Reframing Suicide in the Military, which he co-wrote with Wilbur Scott, and Case Study in False Memory: The Liberation of Buchenwald.

    Air Force F-35 Pilot Chris Hubbard Mar 07, 2022

    Lt Col Chris "K-Rush" Hubbard graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2002, flew the F-16 as a fighter weapons instructor (Air Force Top Gun), and most recently commanded the F-35 training squadron at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. In this episode, we discuss the transition from 4th generation fighter technology to 5th generation and the impact it has had on training, tactics, and war. Chris has published an article on the topic at the AF’s Air University, entitled “Modernizing 5th Gen Fighter Pilot Training.”

    Mission Pilot for Polaris Dawn and Space-X Scott Poteet Feb 28, 2022
    Show notes

    No earlier than the fourth quarter of 2022, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket will launch the Polaris Dawn mission from historic Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
    Scott “Kidd” Poteet is a retired US Air Force Lieutenant Colonel who served 20 years in various roles that include Commander of the 64th Aggressor Squadron, USAF Thunderbird #4 Demonstration Pilot, USAF Weapons School Graduate, Operational Test & Evaluation Pilot, and Flight Examiner. Kidd is a command pilot with over 3,200 flying hours in the F-16, A-4, T-38, T-37, T-3, and Alpha Jet. Kidd has logged over 400 hours of combat time during Operations Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Joint Guardian, Freedom’s Sentinel, and Resolute Support.

    Following his Air Force career, Kidd served in various roles to include Director of Business Development at Draken International and VP of Strategy at Shift4 (NYSE: FOUR). He most recently served as the Mission Director of Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian mission to space that helped raise over $240 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in an effort to help eradicate childhood cancer. Kidd is also an accomplished collegiate runner and triathlete, competing in 15 Ironman triathlons since 2000, which includes four Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

    In episode 57, Dr. Rocky Jedick told Greg about Moral Foundations Theory as a guide to find common ground with people who disagree with you. That discussion was about vaccines. But how does Moral Foundations Theory apply in other contexts?
    What is Moral Foundations Theory? Greg reviews the six foundations of the Moral Foundations Theory from Jonathan Haidt's book, The Righteous Mind. He then applies each foundation to the issue of the Canadian truckers' "Freedom Convoy" and the recent ousting of members from a San Francisco school board.

    Phoenix City Council Candidate Sam Stone Feb 07, 2022

    Homelessness, crime, and city government. Phoenix City Council candidate Sam Stone's family moved to Arizona 30 years ago, and he's been a resident of District 6 in Phoenix for the last 4. He is a small business owner, sports nut, and a policy geek. For the last four and a half years, he served as current Councilman Sal DiCiccio’s chief-of-staff, helping craft and guide policy for the office – serving Phoenix and its residents to the best of his ability. He had previously served as the Director of the Civics Education Initiative at the Joe Foss Institute, and had run a number of local and federal candidate campaigns. Currently, he is the host of the Broken Potholes radio show and podcast.
