This happens to the men who choose to settle for a life of predictability, comfort and safety…at the expense of living their Purpose.

This podcast is for the man who rejects good because he settles for nothing less than Great.

That man you “could have become” is the Great Man Within you.

Napoleon Hill (Think and Grow Rich) calls this the “other self.”
Stephen Pressfield (War of Art) calls this “the unlived life.”
Wayne Dyer (Wishes Fulfilled) calls this “the invisible self.”

    Show notes

    #171:

There are 83 days left in 2020.

How you finish this year will set the tone for the 365 days of 2021.

I know this year has taken a toll on you.

You may feel the temptation to throw away this year (let's pretend it never happened!)

But that would be a mistake, and you know it.

He who limps to the finish line of one race, does not sprint out of the starting blocks of the next one.

How you finish this year matters.

A Man's Guide to Menopause (feat. Alexandra Pope of The Red School) Oct 05, 2020
    Show notes

    #170:

"Menopause doesn't just change the woman, it changes all the people around her in her life." -- Alexandra Pope, Co-Founder of The Red School

Menopause is the time in a woman's life where menstruation ends, signaling the end of her child bearing years, along with her monthly cycle and ushering in one of the biggest transitions of a woman's life.

Chances are you have more than a few women in your life who are going through menopause right now. This could be your wife, mother, sister, aunt, boss, co-worker, employee or any number of other women in your ecosystem right now.

A Great Man is willing to make the effort to understand this extraordinary transition in a woman's life and how he may play a supportive role in the process.

And our guide for that discussion is the elegant, wise and delightful Alexandra Pope.

    Who is Alexandra Pope?

    • Alexandra is one of the Co-founders of The Red School which is a new approach to women's leadership, creativity and spiritual life based on a uniquely feminine way – the menstrual cycle.
    • She's a co-author of Wild Power, Discover the Magic of Your Menstrual Cycle and Awaken the Feminine Path to Power (published by the Hay House)
    • Alexandra is post-menopausal herself; she was prepared for the dramatic changes she was about to experience, and welcomed it as an initiation to a new kind of spiritual maturation

    In this Episode:

    • A definition of menopause, when it happens in a woman's life, and what transitions it brings
    • What men need to know about menopause to be prepared and supportive
    • A contrast between a woman who is unprepared for the changes that menopause brings…versus the journey of a woman who is prepared
    • Alexandra warns us of one of the most humiliating things you can say to a woman going through menopause
    • How you as a business leader can create safe spaces for menopause…without being an expert or venturing into awkward territory

    Favorite quotes from this episode:

"I want men to walk away from this episode feeling dignified about his understanding of menopause." "Menopause is not something to be scared of…but prepared for." "Menopause is an initiation…an adventure in spiritual maturation." "Menopause is like going into another territory…within ourselves."

Confessions From My Sex Life (DQ Solo) Oct 02, 2020
    Show notes

    #169:

I'm opening the kimono on two areas of my sex life that have been prominent areas of focus over the last year.

    #1 – Where's my sex drive?

I've been experiencing a decline in the power, force and hunger of my sexual energy over the last 5-6 months, leading me to wonder "what's wrong with me?"

After some deep meditation, I realized a profound shift is happening…one that other men may be going through without knowing it. The good news: There's nothing wrong with you. Listen to find out what I'm talking about.

#2 – The impact of #MeToo on how I express my sexuality.

I turned off much of my vital sexual energy during #MeToo.

I just realized…I never really turned it back on.

    4 Feel Good Porn Options/Alternatives Sep 28, 2020
    Show notes

#168: Here are two reasons why you may want to upgrade the porn you consume:

    1. You kinda hate yourself after watching what you just watched
    2. You've started to realize the porn aggregators (like Pornhub, RedTube and YouPorn) are platforms where abuse of women – and the potential for underage videos to surface without recourse – runs rampant, and you demand better

Since porn is here to stay – it can still play a healthy role in our sexual development and exploration – and we don't want you to loath yourself…

…Bryan and I want to provide you with better options.

    Here are 4 of them:

    #1. Ethical Porn Sites

Think of these porn sites as grass-fed, free-range organically sourced porn.

Lustery.Com – Amateurs who love filming and sharing their experiences with you.

Bellesa.co – Female porn stars get to pick their scenarios, scripts and sexual partners.

    #2. OnlyFans

www.OnlyFans.com – Individual content creators share themselves directly with you: porn stars, dominatrixes (what's the plural of dominatrix?), and regular people with a wild streak.

We like this site because it keeps the power in the hands of the individual – safety, working conditions, boundaries and money.

OnlyFans has been around a while but blew up during quarantine as exotic dancers and adult film stars couldn't perform during a pandemic…so they went online.

    #3. Literature Porn

www.LitErotica.com – 100% free sex stories, erotic audio and erotic fiction.

We like this site because it requires you to bring your imagination (versus typical porn where your imagination is completely offline as you're flooded with overstimulating video) and to slow your self-pleasure sessions down a notch.

    #4. Erotic Audio Porn

www.AnnaWinters.com – One of our dedicated listeners of the show produces erotic audio for men. Speaking from personal experience…the listening experience is pretty damn spicy.

We like this option because Anna is very clearly sex positive and creates shame free experiences for her listeners.

Most of the audio is 8 to 12 minutes long.

    Some of her episodes include:

    • Keep your eyes closed as I'm riding you
    • Sexy time by the fireplace
    • Teasing your cock with my mouth

8 Questions to Measure the Quality of Your Life (DQ Solo) Sep 25, 2020
    Show notes

    #167:

Every so often, it's powerful to do a real-time spot check on how you're feeling about the quality and future prospects of your life.

Here are 8 statements to help you assess how you're feeling, present day.

As you read these, notice how true each statement feels for you.

Give it a rating of 1 to 10 (1 being completely false, and 10 being perfectly true)

    1. I know that I will live a long and healthy life, looking and feeling my best.
    1. I know that in the long run, I will always be financially abundant.
    1. I know that my sex and love life will be passionate, vibrant and fulfilling.
    1. I know that I will find and live my calling.
    1. I know deep in my heart that I am loved, and worthy of love.
    1. I have people in my life who will still love me, even if they knew my deepest darkest secrets.
    1. I know that I will live a life of joy, meaning and fulfillment.
    1. At the end of my lifetime, I know for a fact that I will have lived my fullest potential.

Which of these statements felt deeply true for you?

Which statements kicked up the most resistance?

Many of the men in The Great Man Within Facebook Group choose to work on the statements they felt most resistance to. Join us!

Breathwork 101: Reduce Stress, Enhance Sleep & 5 Practices to Try Now Sep 21, 2020
    Show notes

    #166:

Over the last two years, I've used breathwork to reduce anxiety, fall asleep with ease, get myself awake and alert in the morning and even…

….enhance the quality of my erections.

    Seriously.

It turns out the nose is more intimately connected to the genitals than any other organ.

That's just one of the many incredible benefits of breathing intentionally.

The problem is, humans are terrible breathers.

According to James Nestor, author of the NY Times Best Selling book Breath, "Humans are the worst breathers in the animal kingdom."

90% of us are breathing incorrectly. 40% of today's population suffers from chronic nasal obstruction. Most of use only 10% of our diaphragm's capacity.

If you experience any of the following, elevating the quality of your breathing is essential:

    • If you feel a chronic state of low-grade (or high grade) stress
    • If you have chronically obstructed nasal passages
    • If you have a hard time being present/in the moment
    • If you have a hard time falling or staying asleep
    • If you snore/have sleep apnea
    • If you have a hard time waking up in the morning
    • If you feel fatigued more often than you want
    • If you feel unusually sore in the days after workouts
    • If you've ever had a panic attack

Many of these issues are attributed to 1 of 3 poor breathing patterns:

    1. Mouth Breathing (Solution: Nose Breathing)
    2. Chest Breathing (Solution: Belly Breathing)
    3. Over Breathing (Solution: Balanced Breathing)

    In this episode

    • Different breathwork techniques for reducing stress, falling asleep faster, activating energy and yes…enhancing the quality of your erections
    • We unpack two incredible books – Breath by James Nestor and The Oxygen Advantage by Patrick McKeown – which give us the history for how we've become such terrible breathers, and the science behind how proper breathing makes nearly everything about how we feel…better
    • The counterintuitive science of how oxygen gets to the muscles, tissues and organs (spoiler alert: it's not by breathing more or taking deeper breaths)

5 breathwork practices you can implement right now

    1. Box Breathing: For alert and relaxed state of being
    2. 4, 7, 8 Breathing: For sleep, stress reduction and short-circuiting anxiety
    3. Wim Hof Hyperventilating Breathing: For energy
    4. Solo Nostril Breathing: For either activating energy, or calming your nervous system
    5. Humming Breathing: For nitric oxide production (read: strong erections)

How to Lead Her in the Bedroom (feat. Monica Yates) Sep 14, 2020
    Show notes

    #164:

Fellas, one of the more recurring questions we get from you is:

How can I improve my performance in the bedroom?

I'd like to offer you a new way of asking that question:

How can I improve my leadership in the bedroom?

Viewing sex as a "performance" often keeps you in your head, making you more self conscious and disconnected from your partner which in turn prevents intimacy.

So today, we're talking about how to lead her in the bedroom…which, as you may imagine, often times starts outside of the bedroom.

Our guide for the discussion today is the unapologetic, vibrant powerhouse…Monica Yates.

    Who is Monica Yates?

    • A women's coach and community leader who guides hundreds of women to embody their feminine essence, reconnect to the power of their period and speak up for what they want in bed Monica is a huge advocate for men, and teaches women how to stop unconsciously emasculating men and rejecting their man's attempts to lead in relationship
    • As a reformed emasculator herself, she teaches women how to receive more from their masculine partners so they can also give more to their man
    • She runs the Feminine as Fuck podcast and gives you a number of episodes at the end for you to listen to further your work

    In this Episode

    • Why the seduction process starts well outside of the bedroom
    • Why you having the ability to communicate your emotions and desires allows her to give more of herself to you
    • The most important thing she needs from you when she's having a melt down
    • How you setting powerful boundaries can be like aphrodisiacs to her
    • Why your inability to temporarily disconnect from work and life responsibilities and be with her is a major barrier to your sexual connection with her

Debunking Sex Myths About Men (DQ Solo) Sep 11, 2020
    Show notes

    #163:

I'm debunking a laundry list of myths about men's sex lives in today's episode of The Great Man Within Podcast.

I posed the question, "what myths about men would you like to debunk" in the sex-positive Facebook group called: "That Sex Group."

There were dozens of insightful responses.

Here are a few of my favorites:

"Men always want sex…are always ready to go…and don't require foreplay."

"Men only want the skinny Victoria's Secret type bodies."

"All men want the type of sex they see in porn."

    "All men watch porn."

"Men won't date a woman who initiates sex/has sex on the first date."

"A soft penis means the end of sexy time."

"Older men have ED, weaker erections and can't stay hard for very long."

"You've ruined the moment if you've gone soft/ejaculated too early."

I'll break down why each of these myths may hold water in some cases, but certainly not all, and especially not among men in The Great Man Within community.

This episode is meant for two listeners:

    1. Men: I suspect you'll find answers, understanding and even a sense of self-vindication by listening.
    1. Partners of Men: Perhaps you hold a few prejudices and misconceptions of your own…and this episode can open you up to seeing your man differently (in the best of ways).

    Happy listening,

    -DQ

3 Ways to Break Bad Cell Phone Habits (DQ Solo) Sep 07, 2020
    Show notes

    #162:

When was the last time you inspected your information diet?

As we stand on the precipice of a sure-to-be-polarizing 10 weeks leading up to the US Presidential Election (shout out to my international readers who get to bypass this circus)…

…against the backdrop of a global pandemic, no less…

…it's now more important than ever to inspect the information you're consuming, both the quantity and quality.

If you're like most people, the #1 way you ingest your information diet is through your phone.

Which is why in today's podcast I talk about 3 Strategies to Break Bad Cell Phone Habits:

    1. Quantify Your Cell Phone Usage

Most people underestimate the amount of time they spend on their phones by 50%. If that's the case for you, you're likely over-consuming information.

To break that pattern, you need to know the following 3 metrics:

    • How many times a day you check your phone
    • How much screen time you spend on your phone
    • What time(s) of the day you spend the most time on your screen

If you're an iPhone user, I recommend downloading Moment app.

If you're on Android, go with Quality Time.

    1. Turn Off Your Notifications

Every time your phone rings, pings, buzzes and flashes…

    …signifying "breaking news"…

…notifying you of someone liking your post…

    …the 20% Pottery Barn coupon email…

You're ingesting low-quality information that distracts you from living a life of intention and focus.

    1. Replace Your Phone as Your Alarm Clock

Some studies have shown the simple act of removing your cell phone from the bedroom can reduce your screen time by up to 50%.

Think about it: if you're not laying in bed at night doing the endless scroll, or diving into your phone as soon as the alarm goes off in the morning…you can end up saving yourself a lot of time.

All of these are important strategies not only for breaking bad cell phone habits, but also for helping you upgrade your information diet.

Trust me, in 10 weeks, you'll be able to tell the difference between those who have, and those who haven't.

I know which one I'll be.
