The Good, The Bad, and The Sequel

Hosts Doug and Jamie are talking sequels and they do it in 2 parts. First, Doug interviews an actor or someone involved that made the film worth watching. They provide us with some insight into the sequel and also talk about their careers. Former guests include Eric Roberts, William Sadler, Robert Hays, Vanessa Angel, and Tiny Lister, just to name a few.  And the second, a discussion of the sequel; What they got right, what they got wrong and how it could’ve been better.

Filmmaker Jim Wynorski (Chopping Mall/Return of the Swamp Thing/Munchie) Mar 04, 2021
    Show notes

Next week's sequel is "Munchie Strikes Back" and this week we are talking to the mind behind it Jim Wynorski. Maybe you don't know Munchie or Strikes Back, but I bet you know "Chopping Mall", "Return of the Swamp Thing", or "Screwballs", well Jim was a big part of all of those. Jim talked about his journey from Long Island NY to Hollywood, shooting movie trailers, Roger Corman, Dom Deluise, Jennifer Love Hewitt, his 150 some odd credits, and more. Jim loves what he does and you can hear it in his voice.

    Jim's IMDb https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0691061/

Next week we are discussing "Munchie Strikes Back" and it's on Youtube for Free https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MbnNj6Fmuo&t=1800s

Sorority House Massacre II Feb 25, 2021
    Show notes

This week we are discussing the 1990 horror sexploitation sequel, "Sorority House Massacre II", which was full of boobs, blood, and funny lines. Now, this is a "name-only" sequel because it has nothing to do with the original and actually has more to do with the "Slumber Party Massacre" movies, but you have to listen to find out how. We talked about all the horror tropes, our crush on Janey, Orville Ketchum, the sorta confusing ending, and more.

You can watch the review here sequelsonly.com/shm2

The next sequel we are reviewing is "Munchie Strikes Back", which is our 2nd Munchie film, and we are stoked. I interviewed the man behind Sorority House Massacre II, Munchie, Chopping Mall, Return of the Swamp Thing, and so much more, Jim Wynorski. Jim is quite the character and he has worked on a ton of films with his 1st being the writer of "Screwballs"

Next week's sequel is "Sorority House Massacre II" and this week "Orville Ketchum" himself, Actor Peter Spellos, stops by to talk about how he made the leap to Hollywood. Peter talked about growing up in NYC, doing improv, 1st audition, providing the voice of Sky-Byte in "Transformers" cartoon, working with a young Jennifer Love Hewitt in "Munchie", Jim Wynorski, and so much more. I could've talked to Peter for hours and you are gonna wish I did.

    Fright Night Part 2 Feb 11, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to Fright Night... Part 2, well our review of this awesome follow up to the 1985 classic. Jamie wasn't as much of a fan of it as I was, but one thing we could both agree on was how great the cast was. Julie Carmen, who plays Regine, had a tough task in following Chris Sarandon's role as the villain in the first one and SHE CRUSHED IT. This movie had some issues with distribution, which we discuss, but Julie stood out so much that she earned a Saturn Award Nomination for Best Actress. We talked about Charley being a bad boyfriend, vampires' love for bowling, rollerblades, a buddy vs a friend, all the vampire rules, and so much more. So make sure you have your garlic, wooden stakes, and mirrors ready for this vampire sequel adventure. This is a video review you can watch at sequelsonly.com/frightnightpart2 Review, rate, subscribe, and share us Our website is sequelsonly.com and you can follow us on all social media @sequelsonly. Our next sequel is "Sorority House Massacre II" and we interviewed Actor/Improviser Peter Spellos who plays "Orville Ketchum". This movie is lots of boobs and blood and it’ll be a lot of fun for sure.

Actor Brian Thompson(Cobra/Fright Night Part 2/Joe Dirt) Feb 04, 2021

This week Actor Brian Thompson stops by to talk about his journey from the Pacific Northwest to Hollywood. Brian told me about some early auditions, being at the right place at the right time for a tv role, working with Stallone on "Cobra", some behind the scene stories from next week's sequel "Fright Night Part 2", martial arts, and so much more.

    Batman Returns Jan 28, 2021
    Show notes

This week we covered one of the best sequels that we have or will probably ever cover, in "Batman Returns". This movie really has full Tim Burton vibes to it and it was an absolute blast. How can you top having Keaton, Pfeiffer, Devito, and Walken all in the same movie? You can't and it's the best Batman according to Doug. But of course, there was a lot to discuss, like what actors were almost cast in the roles of the main characters (some are mind-blowing), Penguin's childhood, Selina becoming the Catwoman, Walken being Walken, Batman actually killing henchmen. and so much more.

This is a video review that you can watch here sequelsonly.com/batmanreturns

The next sequel up is "Fright Night 2" (1989), which is free on Youtube here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQU_e3CM8hQ&t=2266s.

We interviewed Actor Brian Thompson who plays Bozworth in the movie. You know Brian as the Night Stalker in Cobra opposite Stallone, he also played Shao Khan in Mortal Kombat Annihilation, was in Dragonheart, Buffalo Bob in Joe Dirt, hell he was one of the street punks alongside Bill Paxton in The Terminator, and so much more. A face that you definitely know and a conversation you will definitely love.

Actor Gregory S Cummins (Bosch/Cliffhanger/It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia/Batman Returns) Jan 21, 2021
    Show notes

This week Actor Gregory S Cummins stopped by to talk about his great three-decade-plus career. Greg told me how sports were his way to college (he is one the best punters in the history of Hawaii University Football ). We covered a lot of great topics from his career like Hack-O-Lantern, Cliffhanger, William Forsythe, Batman Returns, becoming Mac's dad on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", Amazon Prime's Bosch, and so much more. My favorite part is him dissecting the audition process and how he mastered it. This is a great chat and you will love Greg.

Your homework is to watch "Batman Returns" for next week's review. This movie has such an epic cast; Keaton, Pfeiffer(grrrr), Devito, Walken, and of course Gregory S Cummins (small but memorable line).

Grizzly II: Revenge Jan 14, 2021
    Show notes

This week's review is 37 years in the making! We tackled the movie sequel that the horror community has been whispering about for years and it finally was released on 1/8/21. We had the honor to see it before the public and it was a lot of fun, but of course, we had things to talk about. We discussed young Clooney/Dern/Sheen, the bands that played, lots of BOUCHARD!, the drunk poachers, the amazing cast, and so much more.

The next sequel up is "Batman Returns" and we interviewed an actor who had a small, but memorable role in that, but his career has some great credits and that's actor Gregory Scott Cummings. Greg is currently on the Amazon Prime hit show "Bosch" where he plays Detective Moore, but he was also in Cliffhanger, plays Mac's Dad on Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dead End City on Amazon Prime (old movie, but lots of fun), and lots more.

Captain America II: Death Too Soon Jan 07, 2021
    Show notes

This is our 50th sequel and we chose the perfect movie to celebrate the milestone, "Captain America II: Death Too Soon". We had a Bellevue boy look-alike, Toby, help us break down this forgotten Marvel film. We talked about Steve Roger's being friends with old people, his flimsy shield, his stoner van, the terrible henchman, the extremely long flying scene, the weird town of Bellevue, the legend that is Christopher Lee as Miguel, and so much more. This movie was perfect to kick off 2021 with.

This is a video review you can watch at sequelsonly.com/captainamerica2

The next sequel we are reviewing is Grizzly II: Revenge on 1/14. Buy or rent it starting 1/8, trust us, it's fun!
