Br. Joe Trout, OP breaks open the readings for the Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time. First, the prophet Isaiah tells a people who were suffering in darkness that God will send a messiah to save them. In the Gospel, Jesus does the things that show that he is the promised messiah, though he does not want everyone to know yet. Then, the second reading is from the Letter of James, a "brother" of Jesus, who does not claim to be the new messiah to carry on Jesus' work. Rather, James claims that Jesus is still alive and is alone the messiah, and is working though him to keep bringing about the kingdom.
Readings: Isaiah 35:4–7a; James 2:1–5; Mark 7:31–37

MEMORARAE
Remember, O most
gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known
that anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thine intercession
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee,
O Virgin of virgins, my mother;
to thee do I come,
before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in they mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.
"Church Doors" by Yolanda Adams
I heard your spirit say "girl, you're not done"
You ain't seen nothing yet
Because the best is yet to come
Oh lord
When you let me make it to the church doors
I'll tell them what you've done for me
I've got some stories to tell
Some testimonies that will do them well
How you always looked out for me
Your word says I'm royalty
Oh
Every time I make it to the church doors
I'll tell em what you've done for me
Tell 'em
Tell 'em what you've done
Tell 'em
Tell 'em what you've done oh-oh-oh
When you let me make it to the church doors
I'll tell em what you've done for me
Tell 'em
Tell 'em what you've done
Tell 'em
Tell 'em what you've done oh-oh-oh
When I get to the church doors
I'll tell em what you've done for me
The doors of the church are open
Can I get a witness "yeah"
Well every time I make it to the church doors
I'll tell them what you've done for me
