The Gestalt Gardener — Games & Hobbies
The Gestalt Gardener

Each week, horticulturalist Felder Rushing shares stories, answers questions and just talks gardening. Of course, you’ll hear a bit of “cheesy music” in every program and you might hear a bad joke or two as well. The Gestalt Gardener is a long-time favorite on MPB Think Radio, due in no small part to Felder’s laid-back, your-neighbors-might-talk-but-so-what approach to gardening.

Email Felder anytime at garden@mpbonline.org and listen Friday mornings at 9 and Saturday mornings at 10 to The Gestalt Gardener on MPB Think Radio. And in the meantime, as Felder says, get out and get dirty.

The Gestalt Gardener: Wonderful May 31, 2019

Show notes

With gardening questions coming from all over the deep south, today's garden party is just a big ball of wonder. Felder helps out with everything from orchids to grass, all while enjoying the sixty degree temperatures of northern England. Trust and believe his garden being full of cactus and succulents is not an accident. They spend most of the summer all alone! But he still finds time to throw the best garden party on radio. Let's get dirty.

The Gestalt Gardener: Dirty Felder May 17, 2019

If you can believe it Felder has actually spent some time in his garden. Actually gardening! Before he came to the studio for this weeks garden party he was making sure everything is nice and tidy before his long overseas trip. Felder Rushing has finally found the magnolias here in central Mississippi. They have been on the coast for a little while but having them in his neighborhood has sent him over the moon. The Gestalt Gardener: Spring Dirt Apr 26, 2019

Show notes

With all of the rain and severe weather, Felder's soil is too wet to plant right now but that does not stop this weeks garden party. Ready for your southern garden questions, Felder also brings in some "liberated" flowers that have a certain nostalgic feel. Let's get dirty!

The Gestalt Gardener: Honeysuckle Is Here Apr 12, 2019

The Gestalt Gardener: Not Yet Apr 05, 2019

Show notes

Felder Rushing is back for another garden party and starts off by reminding everyone the time to put out your summer plants is not yet here. Remember blackberry winter? But there are still plenty of questions that need answering: Can you make a homemade weedkiller? How do I handle my diseased plants? How do I keep away the gnats? Let's get dirty!

The Gestalt Gardener: The Pollinator Mar 29, 2019

Show notes

When the weather warms, Felder usually takes a two-mile walk to the studio before the show. But seeing that we are in the middle of the pollen season, maybe he should have driven his pickup with the windows rolled up. Yet and still the garden party rolls on. Allergies and all.
