This episode also includes an interview with Emily May, the founder of the organization, Hollaback, who's mission is to stop public harassment through a global people-lead movement.

Bonus Episode | Introducing: The City with Robin Amer Nov 05, 2018
    Show notes

After years of disinvestment, highways are rebuilt, old buildings demolished, and new skyscrapers erected. All that rubble has to go somewhere, and its destination isn’t a landfill—it’s a pair of vacant lots in a predominately black, working-class neighborhood called North Lawndale. The man behind this operation is a white guy sporting a Cosby sweater and underworld connections. What follows is a tour de force through Chicago’s underbelly: Aldermen get indicted. An FBI investigation goes awry. A community’s resilience is tested—all unfolding under the specter of racism in America.

Anti-Transgender Memo Pt II with Nathalie Crowley Nov 05, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, Nathalie Crowley from the Family Tree Clinic in MN joins to discuss the anti-transgender memo uncovered by the New York Times, which revealed that the Trump administration could be seeking to narrowly redefine the concept of sex as an " immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth." The Family Tree Clinic offers sexual health services for under-served communities and a large percentage of their patients are from the LGBTQ community. We discuss the pragmatic implications of the memo, if it were to take affect, including how it would make it more difficult to travel, get ID, vote and how it could potentially expose the trans community to further hostility. Gender Justice & the Anti-Transgender Memo Pt I Oct 29, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode, Christy Hall and Megan Peterson discuss the anti-transgender memo uncovered by the New York Times, which revealed that the Trump administration could be seeking to narrowly redefine the concept of sex as an " immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth." If adopted, this would be the most dramatic government-wide move to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under civil rights law. We discuss the proposal in the context of Title IX, the civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender, as well as, the legal and practical implications for such a move including how we can protect the transgender community on a local level. https://www.genderjustice.us
