THE MOST MISUSED VERSE ON WOMEN IN MINISTRY is 1 Timothy 2:12. We untagle the meaning in this episode of The Eden Podcast! We ask and answer just WHO were the men and women of 1 Timothy 2:8 and 9-15?? 1 Timothy 3:1 gives the clue! These were the wayward men and women overseers Timothy was left in Ephesus to correct.

Don't miss verse 2 when you study 1 Corinthians 11. Paul praises the believers for following what he had taught them. Only from verse 17 on does he criticize them regarding a different topic.

What did Paul teach about women in church? He said they were in charge of their own heads and should keep practicing what he had taught them.

Did you know?

Paul writes about three groups that corresponded to his three sins (blasphemers, persecutors and disrupters). The third group was made up of the wayward men and women overseers Timothy had been assigned to correct.
1 Timothy 2:12 is only the second half of the Greek sentence that starts in verses 11. And it is the subordinate part.
1 Timothy 3:1 is the center of the jump, jump, high jump pattern that runs from 1:18-3:16. Jesus the faithful logos restores those who aspire to minister once again!

With new insights added, author Bruce C. E. Fleming rereads chapter 1 of "The Book of Eden on Genesis 2-3." A river caught on fire?? Yes, because of pollution flowing on top of it. A verse on fire? Which translation is better on Genesis 3:16? Dr. Joy Fleming answers! Dec 14, 2025

The King James Version (KJV) got Genesis 3:16 right in 1611. The Revised Standard Version (RSV) got it wrong in 1952 by inserting what looked like a curse on Eve that God never placed on her in the Hebrew text back in the beginning.

In her new article for the scholarly journal Priscilla Papers, Joy Fleming, PhD, PsyD, points out the word patterns that the RSV (and the NIV, the NLT, the ESV and others) totally missed. Taking them into account helps us "true" the verse!
