A new episode of The DFO Rundown is live and for the first time ever, Jason and Frank were in the same room to record the podcast! Frank is up in Edmonton for the week so we took the chance to record a few episodes of the podcast! The first episode features some talk about Frank’s journey up to Edmonton and then the guys welcome in former NHLer Colby Cohen, who is now jumping into the media world to be a broadcaster with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Colby, who was a second-round pick back in 2007, talked to us about his playing career, transitioning into a media member, and he even shared some stories about a young Frank Seravalli from the duo’s time in minor hockey!
He had a very interesting perspective on working in hockey and what the game has given him. Colby was also very close with Jimmy Hayes and he talked about his relationship with Jimmy and what made him so special.

Another episode of The DFO Rundown is here and today, Jason and Frank were joined by Oilers Head Coach Dave Tippett, who is about to head into his third season behind the bench in Edmonton. Before getting to Tippett, Frank and Jason talked about the Kirill Kaprizov situation and also, what could be happening with a few free agents that are still available.
With Tippett, they started off with an in-depth talk about his golf game and he shared a funny story about a product that revived his ability to golf. This week on The DFO Rundown, Frank and Jason were joined by one of the newest members of the San Jose Sharks: Andrew Cogliano. The NHL veteran talked about the early days of his career with the Edmonton Oilers, the free agent process (which he experienced for the first time), and why he decided to stay on the west coast.
From there, they also talked about the idea of ‘loving the game’ and how his relationship with hockey has changed since he was a fresh-faced rookie almost 15 years ago. They also talked about what’s next for ‘Cogs’ and what he wants to do after his playing career is done. Gregor also opened up a conversation about officiating in the game and got Cogliano’s take on the way things have changed over the years and how he would like to see the games called.
To wrap things up, they looked back at his time with the Dallas Stars from how sideways last year went to how much he enjoyed being in the organization.
