Necas Cashes In, Barzal Benched & Flyers Heating Up Oct 31, 2025

Show notes

Welcome to a Halloween edition of the DFO Rundown as we start with some facial hair, costume and halloween talk!

We then jump into the hockey talk starting with the Seth Jarvis injury as he blocked a shot last night and Rob Brind’amour said “ it doesn’t look good”

Matthew Barzal was a healthy scratch last night after being late for a skate, was this the right call by management? Is that the right culture you want to build?

We then move onto the Martin Necas contract, $11.5M AAV for the next 8 seasons. Would the Avalanche be better off with Mikko Rantanen? Was this number higher or lower than expected?

The New York Rangers continue to be a conversation this season so we went on a little tangent on their top 2 lines. Where is their production and how can they find their confidence if they keep missing opportunities.

Trevor Zegras has seemingly found himself in Philadelphia. The whole team seems to be rolling right now on top of Dan Vladar playing exceptional in the crease. Is this a new look team in Philly with Rick Tocchet?

We then do some Fill in the Blanks for bet365 before finishing off the pod talking about the Pittsburgh Penguins at the top of the standings and our favourite Halloween costumes.

Blues Struggle, Mammoth & Devils Rolling and Kucherov Hits 1,000 Points Oct 27, 2025

Show notes

Welcome to the DFO Rundown with Jason Gregor and Jeff Marek!

We kick things off with the red-hot Utah Mammoth and their 7-game win streak. With a young core firing on all cylinders and Schmaltz excelling on his new contract, how high can this team go?

Next, we dive into the St. Louis Blues’ struggles, from scoring woes to goalie confidence issues. Can Joel Hofer bounce back, and how much do they miss Zach Bolduc?

The energy picks up with the New Jersey Devils’ 8-game winning streak, where Jake Allen and Jacob Markstrom are shining.

We discuss some classic hockey jersey debates—Avalanche in Nordiques jerseys, Hurricanes in Whalers jerseys—and reflect on retired numbers.

Then we celebrate major player milestones: Nikita Kucherov hits 1,000 points, and John Tavares nears 500 goals. Could Tavares be on a Hall of Fame trajectory?

Producer Pat joins for a Buy or Sell segment: Can the Minnesota Wild hold their playoff spot? Will Jack Hughes hit 100 points for the first time? Are the Penguins sellers at the trade deadline?

We close with the Calgary Flames’ scoring struggles and whether their season might already be in jeopardy.
