    The Devoted Dreamers Podcast

What if the dream in your heart was placed there by God for a reason?

Merritt Onsa, host of The Devoted Dreamers Podcast, helps Christian women in midlife find the courage to pursue their God-shaped dreams—even when fear, doubt, and imposter syndrome say they’re not ready.

Through real conversations with women living out their callings and short solo episodes full of biblical truth and encouragement, you’ll discover:
✨ How to move forward even when you feel unqualified
✨ The source of lies that keep dreamers stuck (and the truth that sets you free)
✨ Practical wisdom for taking the next brave step with God

This is your safe place to wrestle with questions about how to move forward, get clarity for your calling, and remember you don’t have to do it alone.

Together we’re building a community of sisters in Christ who will remind you where your hope lies and encourage you to keep taking the next step.

If you’re ready to stop second-guessing and start walking boldly with Jesus toward the life He’s calling you to, you’re in the right place.

Lisa is the author of 6 books including her 2 latest: Put Your Warrior Boots On: Walking Jesus Strong Once and For All, and 5 Word Prayers, a 40-day devotional. Wife of 22 years, mom of 3, lover of laughter, good food, interior design and The Bible, Lisa is a grateful work in progress. She shares the baby steps that got her speaking and writing for the women of God, and we get into her battle with insecurity, which – if you struggle with insecurity, like most of us do -- I hope it helps to hear you’re not alone.

In this conversation Trillia shares how we can be faithful in the everyday ordinary things and content even when life doesn’t look the way we expected it to. She talks about her struggle with fear, specifically fear of man, and ways she’s tackled that in her life. And she shares her passion for us all to know and see the Imago Dei (the image of God) in every person and the children’s book she’s written to help us do a better job of that for ourselves and our kids.

It was a joy to speak with Trillia. Her honesty about the internal struggles as well as her perspective that maybe not everyone has a God-shaped dream is an important voice in this conversation. I hope you enjoy her as much as I did!

063 || How to Not Miss the Dream || Alisa Keeton Oct 11, 2017
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Alisa Keeton is a wholehearted lover of God who uses fitness as her tool to spread the Gospel message. She is the founder of Revelation Wellness – a non-profit ministry that trains fitness instructors and teaches fitness enthusiasts as well as the author of The Wellness Revelation – an 8-week journey to losing what weighs you down so you can love God, yourself and others.

In this episode, Alisa talks about how, at first, she said she’d “never do that” to the dream God had for her. She shares how He surprised her and made it happen anyway, not with her kicking and screaming, but with a sweet ambition to create something that would bring people the same kind of freedom she’d found in Christ.

At the time of our conversation, Alisa had just returned from a three-month sabbatical. She talks about the decision to take time away to slow down, rest and let God love her, and she shares some of what He did in her heart during that time.

This conversation really ministered to me, and I hope it will to you as well, especially the reminder of who we are as daughters of the King.

    Show notes

Sharon blogs at SheWorships.com. She loves writing about Jesus for the women in his church. In addition to writing, she’s a speaker, pastor’s wife and mom of two boys (and another baby on the way), and she hails from North Carolina. She recently completed her PhD at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. You’ve likely read her writing if you spend much time at Christianity Today’s blog for women–Her.meneutics. Her writing has also been featured in Christianity Today’s print magazine, Relevant, (in)courage, Propel, Gifted for Leadership, LifeWay’s Collegiate magazine, and The Gospel Project blog.

Sharon’s first book, Free of Me: Why Life Is Better When It’s Not About You, just launched this week and she’s back on the show to share more about the book and what she learned along the way.

In this episode, Sharon talks about the hole she’s identified in a lot of teaching directed at Christian women. She puts a label on that feeling you get as you scroll through social media and realize everyone got invited to the party but you. She shares her favorite discipline to help break the habit of self-preoccupation, and how she took a risk to identify and secure a mentor who could walk with her through the book-writing process.

Laura Crawford is a new wife, a new mom, and a gluten-free chef, living in Colorado Springs. She’s the blogger and creator of Clean Chef, Messy Mom. When people ask her about that title, the answer is simple—it encompasses the fullness of what she aims for in her writing >> clean eating, even when life is messy.

She’s on a mission to inspire others to crave a healthy lifestyle—from food, to fitness, to marriage, to finances, to fun. Although she would claim that most of her culinary training came from her mother’s kitchen, she learned the art of technique, flavor, and tone, and how to use the science of cooking and baking to come up with the perfect recipe at Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

Laura’s hope is that she can help other mamas embrace authenticity and find creative ways to stay healthy in all aspects of their lives even when self-care seems impossible.

In this episode, Laura talks about not letting other people’s feelings dictate our ability to move forward with our dreams. She shares how she’s had to trust God’s hand on her life and her dreams, and she challenges us to push forward despite our fear, to pursue our dream.

Ashley Carroll blogs at Todayseden.com and is the host and creator of the Today’s Eden podcast. She’s a mother of two, a mom-tribe encourager and a podcast junkie. She started her own podcast because life can be hard and we need each other! Her goal is to combat the feelings of isolation that social media perpetuates and, instead, talk about the hard stuff, point us back to community, and remind us that “it really does take a village.” Ashely is the real-deal, and she and her guests discuss the good, the bad and the intimate aspects of womanhood and motherhood.

In this episode, Ashley shares about her struggle with “Imposter Syndrome” and how that feeling of not being worthy to pursue her dream almost kept her from blogging and podcasting. (I’m so glad it didn’t!) She talks about what it looked like for her to take the next baby step, and she offers a great reminder of how God sees us, even when we feel invisible to Him and the world.
