Do you invest in the stock market, how about cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin or Ethereum? In this conversation, we cover it all... In the usual chaotic dad's panel fashion.

Of course, you can't discuss money without talking about Covid19 and how that's affecting work. And what about politicians, who are playing with people's financial security by deciding it's more important to win their election than making sure the people getting hurt financially are receiving assistance.

We get into conspiracy theories, and whether or not we will take the coronavirus vaccination. Hint, we don't think we will, and it may be more important to understand before giving it to your kids.

Today on the Dad's Doomsday Guide we welcome Dr. Daniel E. Brooks, the Medical Director for the Banner Poison & Drug Information Center.

Dr. Brooks was kind enough to lay out what you can do if you or someone you love has been poisoned either intentionally or accidentally.

Having called Poison Control when my first child decided to pop open a bottle of lotion and chug away, I can attest to how important such services are when faced with a potentially dangerous situation. Dr. Brooks goes into great detail discussing everything from rattlesnake bites to what not to do if your child ingests a poison. And of course, we discuss the signs and symptoms that may be present if someone has tried to poison you.

One of the main takeaways from our conversation was if you or anyone you know has been poisoned, call the poison control (number below). It will save you valuable time, and ensure the information you are getting is safe and accurate.

Let's talk about surviving!

Today Wesley from Superesse Straps joins The Dad's Doomsday Guide to discuss all things survival, and what you and your family should be thinking about as you prepare.

Wesley touches on several important topics including preparing/defending your home, the best ways to ensure ample food and water in case of an emergency, communication methods, and the list goes on.

The main take away from Wesley's advice is to prepare. Run through plans with family and close friends ensuring the game plan is set no matter the emergency. Far too often survival tips focus on how many cans of food, or gallons of water one should have, but fail to touch upon the essential preparations that will guide you to make better choices for you and your family.

Think of planning like a template, that you customize to fit the needs of those around you.

Through our conversation I came to realize how woefully unprepared I am, and how I've been dragging my feet to ensure things are organized in case SHTF. Hopefully this conversation gets you thinking about what you can do to be prepared, and provides you with the information to get that ball rolling before doomsday!

Welcome to The Dad's Doomsday Guide.

Today Scott discusses what happened when two thieves attempted to steal the catalytic converter from his car just days ago.

Having just sat down to eat, Scott ran outside to find a man underneath his vehicle sawing off the new catalytic converter, which was just stolen and replaced a couple months ago.

Scott discusses his failure to be prepared, his failure to record the incident and his failure to ensure he was protected in case things escalated to a fight.

Overall, Scott is just one big failure!

Today's episode provides a good learning experience about the importance of preparing your home for such incidents, as well as mentally preparing to handle events such as these when they arise.

Hundreds of thousands of IP addresses access child pornography through VPN software in the US alone, impoverished families pimp out their children online for monetary gain, and that's just the start.

Today The Dad's Doomsday Guide announces the winner of the Dad's Story Time contest. Jeremy!

Jeremy sent in his story regarding an IRS scam, and offered a bit of wisdom and requested The DDG pursue deepfake technology topics as this tech becomes more advanced, and scams more convincing. We're happy to be sending him a nice little survival bag as his reward!

Scott also chimes in on a terrifying knife fight his dad encountered many years ago, where a woman with HIV attempted to bite him. Covered in blood his father went home and realized a career change was needed. Scott highlighted the importance of recognizing when you are physically or mentally unable to perform a job, or it becomes too dangerous, realize that the most valuable things in life are time and relationships. Don't let obsessive goals or destructive forces to your personal well-being derail these coveted items. You don't get a do-over... Unless you believe in reincarnation!

Carjacking: Run or Fight? - DDG E20 Oct 06, 2020

On today's show Scott discusses what you can do if you are carjacked, and also touches upon today's Doomsday News!

No one thinks they're going to get carjacked, I know I didn't. That's why when it happened I was completely unprepared. Luckily our dad saved our lives. But what if it happens to you? What would you do?

I can tell you unless you've been extensively trained or have seen combat, having a gun pointed in your face will kick start your body into a fight-or-flight response. You're going to get tunnel vision, you'll probably beg for them to not shoot, you might panic, and the list goes on. Adding to this, what if your kids are in the car? What if they refuse to let you grab them? The horrible outcomes are endless.

This is undoubtedly a horrific situation to be in, and rule number one, like so many other bad situations, is to try not to be in this predicament in the first place. That means being aware and trying to identify the threat before it backs you into a corner with only life-threatening options.

But what is helpful (in addition to training with firearms, weapons and fighting styles) is to run through thought exercises. Walk through the possibilities, what you might be confronted with, what you might do. While it's not like the real life threat pointing a gun in your face, it does get the wheels turning and will hopefully prepare you to respond accordingly.

Today we have an awesome show focusing on the psychological make-up and behavior of serial killers, rapists and child predators.

We know it's heavy, but Tim and I thought it necessary and relevant to discuss a topic that millions of people show fascination with every day, i.e., True Crime.

We were lucky enough to have Forensic Psychologists, Dr. Shiloh and Dr. Scott join us to dissect the latest research and findings that give us insight into the minds of these criminals. Having spent over a decade working with convicted murderers, rapists and child abusers, Dr. Shiloh and Dr. Scott give an honest take about what you can look out for as a parent, spouse, child, etc., as well as the odds of coming across someone from one of these categories.

While we know its a dark topic, we want to shed light on a subject many people don't know much about or choose to ignore in some cases. We sincerely hope it gives you the knowledge needed to make smarter decisions for your children and loved ones.

Knowledge is power.
