How Prosperity Gospel Teaches an Unbiblical Utopian Doctrine with Evangelist Justin Peters Aug 26, 2022

Show notes

The prosperity gospel movement preys on two things that everyone wants: health and wealth. Evangelist Justin Peters has been warning Christians about the dangers of the Word of Faith movement following years of failed healing attempts over his cerebral palsy from faith teachers like Nora Lam. “Prosperity theology has its roots in metaphysical sciences,” says Justin, “and most of what you see on Christian television today is little more than a cultish philosophy wrapped up in Christian lingo.” Prosperity preachers like Steven Furtick, Paula White, and Kenneth Copeland appeal to the human desire for money and success and present an aberrant view of God, Christ, and the Atonement.

TAKEAWAYS
The prosperity gospel says that if you come to Jesus, you can have wealth and health, but that’s not the real gospel.
On Earth, Christians are not promised prosperity but persecution (Matt. 10:22).
Word of Faith preachers often teach the heresy that Jesus was a “good man” who “grew into” his godhood.
When people sing music from Bethel or Hillsong, they are singing music that originated from a cult.

Why Former Joyce Meyer’s Employee Emily Rose Massey Left the Word of Faith Movement Aug 25, 2022

Show notes

Emily Rose Massey and her husband, Paul, are revealing the dangerous lies of the Word of Faith movement after realizing they had been deceived by its teachings themselves. Following years of working for Joyce Meyer Ministries, they found themselves deeply deceived by the popular prosperity gospel movement inspired by preachers like Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, Steven Furtick, T.D. Jakes, Bill Johnson and Brian Houston. Emily tells their story of escaping the Word of Faith falsehood and provides valuable pointers for how to recognize the self-serving declarations and heresies that many people continue to fall for today. “The root of the deception,” Emily says, “comes down to Christians who don’t know the Word of God as well as they should.”

TAKEAWAYS

Word of Faith theology falsely teaches that people can use their words to wield faith to give them what they want
Emily and Paul’s Joyce Meyer Manifesto is available to read on their website, WeWouldRatherHaveJesus.com
Prosperity gospel preachers treat God like a genie, and they use Scripture like a spell book
“Name it and claim it” is a Word of Faith lie that directs people to speak their blessings into existence

Former Catholic Mike Gendron Compares Cultic Catholicism with Biblical Christianity Aug 24, 2022

Show notes

After three decades in the Catholic church, Mike Gendron realized that he needed to put down the rosary and pick up the Bible. After turning his life over to Jesus Christ, Mike is now an evangelist with Proclaiming the Gospel, and he says that America is a nation that is likely under divine judgment for turning its back on God. Mike says that we are being lied to by the people who lead our nation, and that it’s important for Christians to make the most of every opportunity to share the Word of God with the time we have left. Mike also discusses the critical importance of discerning false teaching, and why objective truth that is rooted in the Bible is so deeply needed in our postmodern culture.

TAKEAWAYS

Mike has written two eye-opening books, Preparing for Eternity and Contending for the Gospel.
The Catholic Pope teaches a false and fatal gospel and dares to call himself the ‘Holy Father’ .
Discerning between God’s perfect doctrine and the doctrine of Satan’s demons is important when identifying false teachers.
Christians need discernment to examine ourselves, the world, other men’s teachings, and to expose the heretics.

Prosperity Gospel, Pope, and Persecution of American Christians - SPOTLIGHT with Tina Griffin Aug 23, 2022

Show notes

Christians today need to be aware of the dangers of the prosperity gospel and false doctrines within the American church. The prosperity gospel has increased in popularity following the close of World War II and the rise of televangelism, preaching a pathway to health, wealth, and success. However, the Bible clearly contends that Christians will experience persecution in this life. American Gospel: Christ Alone is an impactful documentary that expertly uncovers the chilling roots and heresies found within the prosperity gospel movement. The deception of the Roman Catholic church and the Pope is also examined.

TAKEAWAYS

Catholics and Christians cannot be yoked together because they are strongly divided on doctrinal issues like justification, grace, and Christ’s sacrifice.
Seven vile songs are up for nomination at the MTV VMA’s, and they are all inappropriate for tweens and teens.
Lil Nas X promotes New Age ideologies in his popular music video “Industry Baby”.
Nowhere in Scripture does it say that Christians in America will be spared from persecution.

Helping the Next Generation Find Their Plan and Purpose in Life with Youth Pastor Tim Outlaw Aug 18, 2022

Show notes

Tim Outlaw fled the church for two years right after he graduated high school, but God got his attention and called him back into ministry in a very surprising way. Tim expressed his concern that most churches do not have a Bible study or gathering for young adults. This observation was what inspired him to start a college-age ministry in his own hometown. He additionally points out the main reason why America’s youth are leaving the church in droves is because there is no core community for them. There must be a place for young people to stay connected within the church, Tim explains. Another reason why so many people are uninterested in pursuing God is because they don’t have a purpose in life. However, Tim stresses that as we draw closer to Christ, He will reveal the plan and purpose for our lives.

Tim’s book, God’s Plan for You, cultivates confidence that God has a plan and a purpose for every single person
Nation-2-Nation is an incredible comprehensive biblical and ministry training program equipping over 20,000 students in over 50 countries

Rebelution Editor Sara Barratt Calls on Youth to Stand Strong in Today’s Hostile Culture Aug 16, 2022

Show notes

A shocking 70 percent of young adults are leaving the church and it’s critical we examine why this is the case. It’s a revolutionary call to go out and share the gospel, shares Sara Barratt, the Editor-in-Chief of Rebelution.com. She is also the author of two phenomenal books, Love Riot and Stand Up, Stand Strong. Sara unpacks the reasons why today’s youth are fleeing the church and embracing a secular worldview, and how Christians can push back against this deceptive post-truth message. “Following Jesus is so much more than having pizza parties at your church,” Sara declares. She encourages today’s young people to live boldly and set apart in today’s anti-Christian culture by investing in their relationship with Jesus every day.

TAKEAWAYS

Rebelution is associated with the smash-hit book and movement sparked by Do Hard Things, written by Alex and Brett Harris.
The foundations of an objective reality are dissolved by the modern “post-truth” viewpoint.
Too many mentors and parents are simply not investing in and discipling today’s youth.
Children are being bombarded with immodest, anti-God messages at a skyrocketing rate
