In a now infamous memo months before the company went under, Blockbuster reported to their employees why "Netflix wasn't a threat," because A). People like reading the back of the DVD box B). Customers like picking up snacks and C). It's great to run into your neighbors at Blockbuster. Turns out people like pushing one button laying on their couch more than all of that.
However, the story of Amazon "killing" Borders or Netflix "killing" Blockbuster, what most people miss is that Barnes and Noble, Redbox, Family Video and countless local bookstores were not "killed" by technology, but continue to thrive. Technology didn't single-handedly "disrupt" Blockbuster or Borderes out of business, their own poor customer service and above market prices did as well.
