Angel Investing is when an individual who provides capital for a business start-up, usually in exchange for convertible debt or ownership equity. Angel investors usually give support to start-ups at the initial moments and when most investors are not prepared to back them.

Dennis Joyce, an angel investor and Conscious Giver, shares his approach to investing and why diversity is an integral part. Dennis doesn't just practice conscious giving in his for profit ventures, but it's a way of life. This giving strategy has lead Dennis to invest his time, expertise, and money in the Seattle based nonprofit, Female Founders Alliance.

As a college senior at Howard University, Shelley Williams Franklin quickly realized the meaning of "village" as she scrambled to secure enough money to complete her college degree. The generosity propelled her to law school and then on to entrepreneurship. The desire to pay it forward never waned. Shelley began supporting students at her alma mater who needed financial support to graduate. This conscious giver knew she could do more. Shelley established the Williams Franklin Foundation to provide scholarships, mentors, and networking opportunities for HBCU students.
