TERENCE MITCHELL 2 | STRENGTH AND SERVICE Aug 26, 2020
    Show notes

Today I have the privilege of welcoming Terence Mitchell back to the podcast for what I believe is a must-listen episode, to follow from our first discussion - our most downloaded episode to date.

Terence is a strength coach, but his coaching doesn't only focus on the physical aspect of the man but takes the whole individual into account. He believes in living your mission and taking responsibility for every facet of our lives and adopting discipline as a means to living a free, meaningful and contented life.

A few of the talking points:

💣 Why it’s important to forgive your former self for whatever suffering you may have caused your current self.

💣 Becoming the man ‘She’ needs you to be BEFORE you’ve even met ‘Her’.

💣Becoming the Man your children need you to be BEFORE you’ve even conceived a child.

💣Why a life of SERVICE should evolve from a life of STRENGTH. And moreover, learning to Identify and act upon your own channel of service.

💣The beauty and valuable lessons found in feeling pain. being in pain; and thus accepting pain, as opposed to numbing it and avoiding it at all costs.

It is another really powerful conversation that will leave you thinking about many facets of your life as a father, husband and man in general.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS | GETTING BACK ON THE HORSE Aug 24, 2020
    Show notes

The end of last week was a tough pill to swallow as various factors took their toll on me physically.

It was disappointing not to succeed in the mission that I had set myself. But the thing is, we all fall short at some stage. We all fail. And yes, it hurts,!

But, what hurts more is owning the mistakes, picking yourself up, reflecting on what you could have done differently, planning a more effective course of action and getting right back on the horse.

DAD LIFE INTERNATIONAL PODCAST | OUR KIDS AND TECHNOLOGY Aug 21, 2020
    Show notes

IAN STRIMBECK | PILLARS OF STRENGTH Aug 19, 2020
    Show notes

Ian Strimbeck is the owner and founder of Runenation and he is focused on building confidence in others through varies concepts of self-defence. Ian is a former United States Marine who spent time overseas in combat environments.

After leaving the military in 2010, he went on to use his GI Bill to obtain a Bachelors in Communication in 2014. During that same time frame, he worked for an executive protection firm in the greater Boston, Massachusetts area protecting international dignitaries, VIP’s, and celebrities.

Ian left his corporate job in 2017 to travel full-time across the US spreading his knowledge to US citizens, LEO’s, and active military members.

He is also a father to three boys who are not biologically his own and spend week on/week off with their Biological father, and we delve into how putting aside ego among other things contributes to making this work and collaborating to raise kids right.

During a wide-ranging discussion, the focus is on being the best man you can be so that you are a pillar of strength to those around you, whether playing a part in raising someone else’s kids, raising your own kids or whatever capacity you impact children's lives.

This was such a deep, candid and challenging conversation for me, I hope you feel the same way about it.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS | QUALITY OVER QUANTITY Aug 17, 2020
    Show notes

When I was fighting for equal custody of my twins I really valued my time with them and was very intentional about my role as a father. I too found that with my other two little ones and when I won equal custody I started to become complacent about the time with them, and still do.

Due to our varying life situations, we all have different amounts of times we spend with our kids. For those of us with more time, we can get fooled into thinking we have so much time at our disposal that we end up not being as present as we could be.

Although it is very important to be there for our kids as much as possible, it is also important that we add quality by actually BEING THERE with our kids, with undivided attention.

MONDAY MEDITATIONS | DON'T GET ON THE COMPLAIN TRAIN Aug 10, 2020
    Show notes

“Everything that happens is either endurable or not. If it's endurable, then endure it. Stop complaining. If it's unendurable… then stop complaining.

    - Marcus Aurelius

How often do we find ourselves getting involved in conversations focused on complaining/

    How does this serve us?

As men and fathers, it is a waste of time, energy, thought and chips at our self-respect and intentionality.

Let's stay off the complain train and use that time, energy etc to move forward not backwards.
