UN Climate Conference Czars: You Need to Eat a Lot Less Meat Nov 29, 2023
    Show notes

The other day, H. Sterling Burnett, director of The Heartland Institute’s Arthur B. Robinson Center on Climate and Environmental Policy, was on the John Steigerwald Show on AM1250 The Answer in Pittsburgh. He was invited on to talk about how the agenda of the United Nations’ annual climate conference — COP28 in Dubai — includes demanding everyone in the world eat less meat. To save the planet, of course.

Sterling explains how all livestock in earth accounts for just 4 percent of greenhouse gas emissions, not 30 percent as Biden Climate “Czar” John Kerry claims. In fact, Sterling and Steigerwald talk about many of the dystopian proposals coming out of the UN Climate Regime. The climate elite enjoy a “high carbon lifestyle” — including flying thousands of private jets to oil-rich Dubai — while demanding the rest of us live poorer and more-miserable lives. But there is good news: People around the world are starting to throw their climate alarmist leaders out of power. More of that please.

It’s a great and informative interview, so have a listen.

Alarmists Continue to Hurt the Environment Nov 28, 2023
    Show notes

Back in 2010, Fracking wasn’t as prevalent as today. More, climate alarmists were pushing hard to prevent it from ever taking off. A decade later, fracking didn’t have the dire consequences that alarmists claimed it would have.

    H. Sterling Burnett joins the Steve Gruber show to discuss the disproportionate response failed documentaries like Gasland get when compared to the very real threat the Right Atlantic Whale is facing due to offshore wind. Since sonar testing for offshore wind has begun, the Right whale has consistently shown up dead with no official explanation in sight.

Is EU Climate Madness and the Netherlands' War on Farmers Coming to America? Nov 27, 2023
    Show notes

Europe is much farther down the climate alarm rabbit hole than the United States is. Specifically, the Netherlands climate goals have come increasingly at the expense of farmers. The policies have ended generations of family farms in one of Europe's most vital breadbasket countries in the name of reducing CO2 and nitrogen emissions to meet EU climate goals. Could it happen in the U.S.? Yes, if we don't carefully rein in Marxism in our schools and growing bureaucracies.

The Truth About Electric Vehicles and a High Carbon Lifestyle (Guest: The Hon. Jason Isaac) Nov 20, 2023
    Show notes

Electric vehicles cost much more than most people realize, with many costs borne by taxpayers and ratepayers hidden from public view. The true cost can be almost double the sticker prices when subsidies for electric charging and fuel economy credits are included. Despite this, they don't sell or function well. It's time to reembrace a high carbon lifestyle, says the Hon. Jason Isaac, the CEO of the American Energy Institute.

National Climate Report #5: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly Nov 17, 2023
    Show notes

This week on "Climate Change Roundtable," host Anthony Watts and panelist H. Sterling Burnett will delve into the big report issued by the Biden Administration - NCA5, or the National Climate Assessment #5. The media went ballistic over this report, with CNN claiming, "No place in the US is safe from the climate crisis, but a new report shows where it's most severe." Similar claims were echoed by other media outlets, yet when you scrutinize the data, these claims are unsupported.

Joining us will be James Taylor, president of The Heartland Institute and an expert in policy analysis, as we dissect this lunacy.

Tune into "Climate Change Roundtable #88." We'll be discussing National Climate Report #5, addressing The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. Additionally, we'll cover the week's craziest climate news and answer your questions.

"Climate Change Roundtable" goes live every Friday at 12 PM CT/1 PM ET. Join the live show and submit your questions for our panelists. To ensure your question gets addressed, leave it as a super chat, and we'll guarantee it's covered.

The Urban Heat Island Effect - Dramatic New Findings With Dr. Roy Spencer Nov 14, 2023
    Show notes

This week on "Climate Change Roundtable," host Anthony Watts and panelists Linnea Lueken and H. Sterling Burnett will discuss the the big white elephant in the climate room: urban heat islands (UHI), a significant but often overlooked topic in climate science. This phenomenon has been known for decades, yet climate advocates often dismiss it as either insignificant or claim to adjust for it when, in reality, they do not.

Joining us will be Dr. Roy Spencer from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He will talk about his new UHI dataset, which not only demonstrates the strong effect in the United States but also in other parts of the world. He has discovered some remarkable findings that we'll illustrate with maps.

Tune in to Climate Change Roundtable #87 for a discussion on URBAN HEAT ISLAND EFFECT – Dramatic New Findings! We'll also cover the week's crazy climate news and take your questions.

"Climate Change Roundtable" is live every Friday at 12 PM CT/1 PM ET. Be sure to join the live show and leave your questions for our panelists. If you want to ensure your question is addressed, submit it as a super chat, and we guarantee we will cover it.

Debunking Persistent Myths About Hydraulic Fracturing Nov 08, 2023
    Show notes

The other day, Heartland Institute Research Fellow for Environment and Energy Policy Linnea Lueken was a guest on the Ron Arquette Show on KRNS radio in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was invited on to talk about a new paper she wrote with Heartland's Tim Benson titled "Debunking Four Persistent Myths About Hydraulic Fracturing." As Linnea explains, "fracking," as it's commonly called, is the process of extracting natural gas and oil from several miles deep beneath the surface of the Earth. This revolutionary technique -- combined with horizontal drilling -- has made America a global energy leader again and created thousands of good-paying jobs. But opponents of fracking peddle myths about damage the process does to drinking water, causing air pollution, health problems, and even earthquakes.

Heartland was happy to be able to bust these myths on Rod Arquette's show. Have a listen to this brief interview and learn more.

COPs and Robbers: Follow the Money Nov 03, 2023
    Show notes

This week on "Climate Change Roundtable," our trio of host Anthony Watts and panelists Linnea Lueken and H. Sterling Burnett turn their attention to the COP28 Climate Conference set to commence in Dubai on November 30th.

To shed further insight into the conference is Craig Rucker from CFACT, who is set to attend COP28. Rucker will share his expectations of the conference, highlight the special interests at play, and predict how the event will unfold.

In Episode #86, "COPs and Robbers," we'll take a critical look at these international gatherings, examining who benefits from them and exploring the broader implications for global climate policy. And unless you're a politically connected global elite, don't expect to benefit.

Additionally, we'll touch on the latest and craziest climate news of the week.

The Folly of Electric Vehicles: Heartland's Jim Lakely on the Cut Jib Newsletter Podcast Nov 01, 2023
    Show notes

The other day Heartland Institute Vice President Jim Lakely (that's me) was a guest on the Cut Jib Newsletter Podcast, part of the excellent and must-read Ace of Spades blog. I was invited on by hosts JJ Sefton and CBD, bloggers at the site, to talk about the folly of electric vehicles. It's a favorite subject of mine, and also of another great blogger at Ace of Spades, Buck Throckmorton.

I was on for about an hour, but this is the first 20 minutes or so of our conversation. Perhaps we'll post more of this conversation at a later date. But for now, enjoy.
