27: Is It OK to PUBLICLY Share Your Random ACTS of GENEROSITY? Jun 08, 2017
    Show notes

For some, My Two Cents topic today may be quite controversial, but we're going to talk about it anyway.

(Check out my upcoming challenge at Fortheloveofmoney.com/challenge)

When doing a good deed or a random act of kindness, is it acceptable to share on social media (or anywhere else) – be it with videos, pictures or posts? Some would argue that if someone shares their generous act that it automatically becomes a selfish one. But does it?

I say a resounding hell no! With all the negativity in the world right now – more than ever – what if we saw more posts about generosity and giving? In my opinion,

"The more random acts of generosity shown the better."

Compared to seeing posts of people tearing each other down (politically, personally etc.), messages that share someone doing something GENEROUS makes people hopeful. Maybe it even makes them feel guilty (in a good way) and causes a person to ask themselves, "When did I last do something nice for someone?" Of course there will always be those people who think you're an a**hole for gaining attention for a "selfless" act, but who cares?!

"The real person who should be questioned is the person doing the judging, not the giving."

Besides, even if there's an ulterior motive – it's still helping someone and doesn't take the good out of the good deed. Don't be afraid of what any naysayers will say about it!

"Share the damn deed with pride! Be unapologetic. Set an example. Be the light. Start a ripple effect of generosity that someone else was too afraid to do."

So here comes the exciting part. I believe in this practice so much that I wanted to start a challenge around it.

"I want to walk the walk and get as many people unapologetically doing and sharing random acts of generosity."

So starting on June 12, I'm kicking off a 7 Day Generosity Challenge. That's seven days of generosity and sharing it with the masses.

"Every single act – big or small – truly matters. And together we can make the biggest difference you've ever imagined."

Get creative – it can be anything. Buying someone's coffee. Donating clothes to someone in need. Ordering a pizza for a business who you think would enjoy it. Leave a few five dollar bills in random places where you know someone could use them. The options are limitless.

    "No act is too small."

If each of us does our part, we can set a new standard. We can create a new ripple of generosity. And I'll be doing this right along with you! Be sure to follow me @chriswharder as I give away $2,000 worth of prizes to those who participate throughout the 7 days.

For official rules of the 7 Days of Generosity Challenge, visit fortheloveofmoney.com/challenge.

And while I'm not typically a person who likes to ask for things, I would LOVE for you to please share this episode with your friends. Sure, this is a contest, but I'm interested in making this a MOVEMENT.

Thank you so much for helping me make this a reality. I can't wait to see the ripple effect at the end of the 7 days. Let's go be generous!

In This Episode You Will Hear About:

26: What does THIS PREACHER think about gaining MASSIVE WEALTH? (and HOW to do so!) with Joshua Feuerstein Jun 05, 2017
    Show notes

Joshua Feuerstein – Episode 26 – What does THIS preacher think about gaining massive wealth?

From very humble beginnings and a terrible speech disability, Joshua Feuerstein's story is not one you want to miss. His experiences and stories are jaw-dropping, and while you may not get why I have a preacher on this podcast, you will by the end as he drops some invaluable social media knowledge bombs that will blow your mind.

For those who may not know, Joshua Feuerstein is a viral conservative social media personality, speaker, evangelist and political commentator with over two million daily Facebook followers. His bold perspective, cutting-edge presentation and resonating message have fueled several of his videos to break the coveted 100 million view mark. With between 30-50 million people viewing, reading and interacting with his posts on a weekly basis, he remains one of the leading social media voices in the Christian conservative movement.

But this wasn't always the case for Joshua. In the early part of his life, he had a terrible stutter. He was bullied and teased (which he's now thankful for as it gave him some thick skin), but he had a loving home and an especially generous father. His father went out of his way to be kind to others – literally taking groceries from their home (when they had very little to give) to help those who were in need of them more.

Witnessing such generosity, at the age of 17, Joshua felt called to give some of his things to a local church as well. After doing so and later attending a service at the church, he had a miraculous encounter with God. His stutter completely disappeared. Nothing gradual about it. It was gone. From this point, things starting looking up for Joshua. At the age of 19, he was speaking at several speaking engagements at churches and other large events. He even had an offer to become an NFL broadcaster.

Things were going well, up until five or six years ago though, when his fiancée at the time broke his heart. Suffering from deep depression, it was one of the lowest points of his life, so much so that he pictured himself pulling the trigger on his own life. It was then that he had an epiphany where he recalled God's story about the five loaves and two fish…while as a whole it couldn't feed many, by breaking it into pieces it could feed thousands. Similarly, Joshua thought,

"God could actually use my broken-ness to bless other people."

And so it began… He started sharing his true, authentic self and the struggles that came along with it. People loved his transparency and as a result several of his videos went viral (some reaching more than 100 million views).

Now an in-demand social media consultant, Joshua shares the "secrets" behind creating a viral video and gaining a loyal social media following for your brand.

"If you say something that other people agree with, but don't know how to articulate it, they will share it."

"If you say something that other people agree with, but they're afraid to say it – they share it."

Your success is largely dependent on your authenticity. When it comes down to it, you want people to CONNECT with you and everything that you are. So let people see your flaws.

"People want to see the real YOU – they don't want a façade."

Furthermore, make sure you're being authentic to YOU and finding the niche around that. Make it something your passionate about.

"Find who you are and build a brand around that – and invest in branding yourself."

Know your audience. If you desire to be extremely neutral, you're not going to develop as loyal of a brand. Joshua admittedly uses a radical approach. Keep in mind that your biggest enemies can be your biggest evangelists…

Being as conservative as he is, he's aware that there's always going to be some kickback. But to him it's one of the highest honors.

"You're going to irritate some people. And if you're not, you're probably not doing it right."

"Don't be afraid to tap into your opposition marketing and sometimes let your haters share your stuff, too – or at least talk about it."

And don't take it personally… The haters don't necessarily hate you, they just don't like what you stand for (love that this relates to my last podcast!).

So now that you've found your audience, how do you keep them?

This is one of my favorite parts, because like me, Joshua also feels that generosity is key. He suggests consistently giving people VALUE. Don't try to monetize your following immediately or they'll likely end up mistrusting you.

"Give people around 80% of your best stuff and then charge them for the last 20%."

Also, be sure to let people see how you're doing good in the world. This doesn't mean you need to be boastful and showy, but when you lead by example, you're also inspiring others to do the same.

As a preacher, Joshua believes that wealth can be a great thing.

"Money isn't evil. It's if you simply love money to the point that it owns you, instead of you owning it."

He also believes in the "sow and reap" concept from the Bible.

"If you sow, you reap. Period."

For example, one day at a local coffee shop, he paid for a man's coffee and Danish. It was a pure act of kindness and one that he enjoyed doing frequently for random individuals. This particular time led to a conversation with the CFO of large company, which later on helped land him a multi-million-dollar contract.

"Real generosity has zero stipulations attached."

When it comes down to it, wealth is only what you make of it. Joshua likes to think of money as just one of the tools we were all provided with to fulfill our purposes here on this earth. But there has to be a purpose behind it… Whether it's driving a nice car to keep up with the expectations of a wealthy client or buying luxurious watches so you can later give it to someone who needs it for the money, we must always keep it in perspective.

"Money does not change you. It only magnifies who you already exist as."

    25: A MIDDLE FINGER to SUCCESS! Jun 01, 2017
    Show notes

Well, that got your attention, didn't it? It got mine, too. Let me explain…

The other morning, my wife, Lori, and I were on our way to Soul Cycle, one of our weekly workout outings. It was a good day and we were chatting back and forth. We had been driving for only 10 blocks when out of nowhere a guy who looked like he was ready to go to work, gave us the middle finger.

This was no ordinary execution of flipping the bird though… This was a high-flying, fully extended middle finger that tracked us as we drove by. I give the man an A+ for effort. We hadn't done anything to set him off – we were driving under the speed limit, no loud music etc. The only thing left was that we were driving a Ferrari and obviously he had a problem with what it represented – wealth.

Was I angry? Of course I was – the guy had just put a dark cloud to the start of my day. But that anger quickly turned into compassion as I realized just how much pain something must have caused him to trigger such an act. And this is just one of the reasons I started this podcast – I want to shift people's perspectives around money.

"You'll never be able to change your current situation if you have any hatred toward the people who are in the situation where you'd rather be."

Have you ever judged someone by their bag, their car or the clothes they wear? We all have at some point. But ultimately,

"You can't hate wealth and have it at the same time – it just doesn't work."

I realize that this goes both ways… I mean, I had no more of an idea what that man's story was than he had about mine. But what if we all knew or asked what a person's story was behind their wealth? What if they donate a large part of their wealth to charity? What if they donate their time? What if… And sure there's always bound to be that stereotypical jackass, but again that doesn't mean that all wealthy people are the same.

I challenge you to think this through the next time you encounter wealth – whether it's in abundance or lack. Let's work on shifting our money mindsets so we're able to,

"Let everyone thrive so we can ALL make a difference."

24: From Kitchen Table to $50 MILLION Per Year with Evan Tardy May 29, 2017
    Show notes

It will probably not come as a surprise that today's guest, Evan Tardy, was born with entrepreneurship blood running through his veins. His grandfather took the risk years ago to walk away from the already-in-place family farm and started a company, which is now run by his own father. Both men played a pivotal role in instilling a strong worth ethic in Evan, and further supporting those roles with phrases like,

"You make your money at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon."

With this in mind, it was inevitable that Evan started his own entrepreneurial career at the ripe age of 16 when he created his own mobile car wash service. Of course, hours upon hours in the sun washing cars gets tiring after a couple years, so with a successful run he sold the business to a friend to pursue other adventures on his entrepreneurial path.

While there were moments of discouragement (and still some today), he just kept hustling and getting things done with the mentality that you "learn in your 20s and earn in your 30s" thanks to the idea from author Keith Ferrazzi.

So after trying a lot of different things, volunteering and learning about various areas, he ended up meeting a dentist who was moving to town. Seeing the need for some marketing help, Evan offered to help him at no cost (it was the perfect opportunity for him to cut his teeth on the new things he'd learned). Not only was he successful, he increased the dentist's monthly income by more than three times than when he began. Evan also helped another friend with his marketing at no cost and had similar results.

Did he need to give his work away for free? Certainly not, but for him,

"The benefit of being able to help someone in some way or another and approach every challenge or thing I wanted to learn has come back to pay dividends in many, many multiples."

After all, why would you not practice/hone your skills with a smaller (safe) audience before you have to do it for a much larger group?

"Create a safe space for you to experiment. Try stuff, learn and fail when you only have an audience of two or three or when there's very little on the line."

Fast forward to Evan's raging success as the President of Dr. Axe, the 2nd largest natural health website in the world. Now in a leadership role, he focuses on bringing the right people onto their team and ensuring that everyone is bringing their best selves and creative problem-solving skills to work each day.

But what else contributes to the fact that Dr. Axe has been recognized as one of Inc. 5000's fastest-growing companies?

"We're serving people with a mission that's a lot greater than ourselves."

And while that mission is super important, he also knows that money, personal growth and friends play a factor, in addition to reinvesting in their employees, hiring more great people and focusing on the same things. There's really no "secret sauce."

"By really choosing to focus on a few key pieces of the puzzle for us, we're able to reinvest profits to get better and better."

Evan is a shining example of what it means to be a true entrepreneur – both in work ethic and generosity. And he feels that we're all here to aspire to some amount of greatness. Whether you make millions or just get by, he truly believes we should all just,

"Enjoy the journey and OWN that we are all striving for greatness."

And what a great lesson for us all.

23: An Entrepreneur's HACK Guaranteed to BOOST Your INCOME May 25, 2017
    Show notes

My Two Cents – Ep. 23 – An Entrepreneur's Hack Guaranteed to Boost Your Income

Here it is, the business hack you've been waiting for… Delegation.

Ok, so this isn't a new concept, but stick with me because I'm going to share my "formula" and rules that make this a game-changer for your business and life. While the idea of delegation is quite basic, it's often not used to its full potential – if at all.

Just my two cents, but "You simply cannot and should not be doing everything yourself."

I understand that it's hard either giving up power or money, but this is exactly the reason you SHOULD. You're not being efficient, it slows you down and you could end up potentially losing money as well.

"You should only be doing income-producing activities or activities that you love. That's it. Nothing else."

So how do you know if delegation is right for you? The following two rules will help you determine if you can afford to delegate or if your business is at a point to delegate tasks.

    1. If you can hire out the task for less than you currently value your time at, then do it!
    2. Even if you have to hire it out for the same value as what you value your time at (or slightly more), and if it is delegating a non-income-producing activity, then do it.

Here's how to estimate the hourly value of your time:

Take your gross revenue (or your estimated gross revenue) and divide it by the number of hours you put into your business. This is typically 2,080 hours a year (52 weeks x 40 hours a week). Example, if you made $80,000, your hourly rate would be about $39/hour.

If delegating a task would be less than this – do it! And keep in mind that even if it's a higher rate, it will likely still save you time (which is ultimately more money).

And don't forget, when you delegate you're putting more jobs out into the economy as well. Not to mention you'll likely be passing over duties that frustrate you. In turn you'll likely feel a weight lifted – and be a happier person! I can tell you from experience that when you're happier, you attract more customers/business.

"A happier entrepreneur is a more effective entrepreneur."

I encourage you to start before you're ready. Stop doing the things you hate. And spend time doing more of what you love – growing your business and having more fun with it.

To help you see where some of your inefficiencies are at (whether you're an entrepreneur or business leader), be sure to make this list:

    • What's your hourly value?
    • List every activity that you currently do to grow your business that somebody else could be doing that falls under your hourly value.
    • List things that cost the same as (or a little more than) your hourly rate that you're currently doing, but would save you hours.
    • Add anything else that you could delegate – get creative!

What were your results? I would love to hear! Be sure to tag me on Facebook or IG!

    Now, go get delegating!

22: The EXPERT in How to MONETIZE YOUR PASSION Online with Melyssa Griffin May 22, 2017
    Show notes

I am so excited (like geeking-out excited) for you to hear my conversation with Melyssa Griffin. She truly exemplifies the meaning of true entrepreneurship and giving, and I can't wait for you listen. (This podcast is a must for anyone who has a passion and wants to make a living by doing just that.)

For those who may not know, Melyssa is a rockstar at teaching online courses and live workshops for entrepreneurs and bloggers who want to turn their after-work hobbies into full-time businesses. A few of her specialties include list-building, webinars, using Pinterest to get organic traffic, and content marketing. She also leads an active Facebook group of 60,000 members and helps almost 150,000 entrepreneurs with her weekly emails.

Early on, Melyssa actually had nothing to do with the blogging/online world. After college, she started out as an English teacher in Japan, but after some time just never felt like it was her true purpose, so she started to pursue more creative avenues. She wasn't looking to start a business, she just really wanted to build an online community/blog that could help people become their best selves and be more creative.

Well, once her blogging began, it spiraled into so many different areas. Melyssa opened a small web studio and focused her blogging on her experiences with growing her business. And wouldn't you know, people were really interested in what she learned and what she had to say.

It was during this time that Melyssa discovered that while she enjoyed the creative work she was doing and learning new things each day, she actually was having more fun (and fulfilling her purpose more) by teaching others what she was learning along the way and helping them find the freedom in their lives like she did. And so began helping as many people as possible,

    "Monetize their passion."

Ok, ok, easier said than done… Or is it? I know for many, this seems like a long shot. Can your passion really make you money? You'd be surprised. Melyssa's clients range from yoga teaching to art lessons with a unique type of marker (seriously).

"People don't realize that there are all these sub-niches out there with people who are willing to spend money to learn what you already have in your head."

But you have to be willing to put in the work and put the information out there. Time is always a factor, but in this day in age, it's easier than ever. Melyssa estimates that in 90 days and for less than $500, you can create a profitable business. Clearly, it won't happen overnight, but you don't need a HUGE audience. You just need to focus and be willing to forego a leisure activity or two. You can make it happen.

"The time often exists if we make space for it. It's just a matter of are we willing to make that sacrifice in the vision of something bigger that's out there for our lives."

Melyssa goes on to talk about her fears and practices to help break through them. She also shares with us her money mindset struggle and why she feels it's so important to be transparent and real when it comes to sharing her experiences (she shares her income and expenses on a monthly basis on her website).

Melyssa is truly an entrepreneur who just keeps giving and giving…and giving. Whether it's the Pinterest knowledge she drops on this podcast, a free workshop/online course or helping to raise money for Pencils of Promise, it's so obvious that everything she does has others in mind.

Money is great, but at the end of the day, it's about caring for people and finding a way to help each other. After all, Melyssa truly believes and practices what she says,

"The biggest thing you can give is your heart."

    And I couldn't agree more.

    21: Why I UNAPOLOGETICALLY Bought A Ferrari May 18, 2017
    Show notes

Wait a second, this is a podcast about giving, right? So why in the world am I talking about buying a Ferrari? While the title seems a bit contradictory, I assure you there's more to it.

If you've listened to my other podcasts, you know that I'm all about smashing negative wealth stereotypes. And that's why I want ALL my listeners to have the ability to BUST through any mental blocks they have around wealth and unapologetically celebrate and pursue their wealth and accomplishments – OUT LOUD.

There's a catch though…you must deem yourself worthy of all the good things that you accomplish along the way.

"If you don't believe you're worthy, you'll never really reach your maximum wealth ability, and you'll never reach your ability to give in as big of a way as you want to."

But there has to be a balance between giving to ourselves and to others. After all, what's it all for if we don't stop to acknowledge in some way, shape or form our achievements along the way?

Does this mean you have to go out and buy a car? Definitely not – cars are just one of my deep-rooted passions. However, it's so important to find something that represents both the season/mood you're in at the time of your accomplishment and who you had to become in order to get it. For example, right now.

"I'm in the season of aggressive, fast, sexy, and eye-catching movement – full speed ahead."

Surround yourself with whatever will support you and help you to go ALL in. Be unapologetic about what dangling "carrot" motivates you to produce more epic results. And as those results compound, you'll be able to give the excess away to others.

And at the end of the day, that's what it's all about, right?

20: MILLIONAIRES in Their 20's...How Did Emily and Hayden Vavra Do It?! May 15, 2017
    Show notes

Interviewing some of the youngest, most successful people I know today triggered me to ask one of my favorite questions, "What was your money mindset growing up?"

I think people perceive wealthy individuals as "lucky" or "dealt the good hand in life," when truly I feel like 9 times out of 10, entrepreneurs didn't START off that way, which is why I like to hear (and share with my audience) everyone's background and how it all began.

Interestingly, today's guests Emily and Hayden Vavra, give two very different but REAL perspectives on the beginning of their entrepreneurial careers. Emily was raised by a hard-working single mother with the mindset that "money doesn't grow on trees." Hayden, however, was raised in a very large and privileged family of equally hard-working parents and with the belief that anything and any amount of money is possible.

Before entrepreneurial life, both had their careers – Emily made an average amount of money and Hayden played for a short time in the NFL. And while they were content, both knew as a couple that they were destined to do more.

"I started reading a lot more, attended my first event and working on personal development. So I think for me, a lot of it came from the mindset. I needed to first believe that I could do it." – Hayden Vavra

From a happy, but mediocre, lifestyle to an insane entrepreneur empire, Hayden and Emily are an unstoppable power couple.

"We both have our individual dreams, goals and aspirations, but we definitely talk together about what's on the horizon as well and crazy goals that most people would laugh about if they ever heard us talking."

Accomplishing things on your own is empowering and exciting (don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise), but from my own personal experience, and hearing what Emily and Hayden had to say as well, crushing goals with the one you love is a completely priceless feeling.

    "Your economy is YOUR economy."

How you live, how you run your business and/or behave as an employee, what you spend and what your savings habits are – that's all up to you. It's in your hands…literally. I repeat, "Your economy is YOUR economy."

So for all of my listeners who think we're in "tough times" right now, I'm here to have you try on a new idea, change your way of thinking and ask you to find a new perspective.

It's easy to find comfort and misery in tough times. Whether it's within your bank account or your relationships, I challenge you to think outside the box. As the old saying goes, "No one said it will be easy, but it will be worth it."

18: From SUPER BOWL Champion to Champion of EQUALITY with Brendon Ayanbadejo May 08, 2017
    Show notes

Born into an interracial family, Brendon Ayanbadejo's early first years were spent in Lagos, Nigeria. After his parents had decided to go their separate ways, he and his siblings moved back to the U.S. with their mom.

"Growing up with a brother only 18 months older than me gave me my competitive edge or a bit of a 'chip on my shoulder' sort-of-speak. I felt like I always had something to prove. I had a little bit of talent with a whole lot of hard work."

Speaking with someone as driven and as disciplined as Brendon today gave me immense inspiration and motivation to continue bettering myself from the inside out.

"I knew by the age of 10 years old that I wanted to be a professional athlete so my body was going to be that vessel along with my discipline and mentality of sacrifice and hard work."

Taking us back down memory lane to where it all began for him, Brendon shares a tragic story of his childhood best friend, which was one of his earliest reasons behind staying drug-free and 100% focused for his future pro-athlete years that were to come. He mentions how his upbringing in a very open household allowed him to be free with both his thinking and his actions, instead of feeling the need to sneak around and "experiment." This also led him to his decision to remain focused on his long-term goals.

"I think it's a mixture of nature and nurture that got both my brother and I to the professional level. It started with nature, the DNA to run fast, build muscle mass and the durability, but it's like having a beautiful piece of wood that you must carve into something special with nurture. That's the discipline, handwork and strategizing."

From a professional athlete to a franchise owner and huge advocate of serving his community and giving back, Brendon's interview today covers all angles. He is proof that being unapologetically wealthy doesn't equal greed. With his hands in helping those with diabetes, The American Heart Association, and helping feed the hungry, it's safe to say that the world needs more Brendon Ayanbadejo's.

"It's not about how much money you make – do what you love. If your love turns into dollars and cents than that's even more amazing."
