Ep. 276: Greg Palast Explains How Donald Trump and His Republican Party Will Steal the 2020 Presidential Election at the Ballot Box Mar 01, 2020

Greg Palast is an investigative journalist whose work has been featured by the BBC, The Guardian, the Nation Magazine and Rolling Stone Magazine. He is also the author of the bestselling books Billionaires & Ballot Bandits and The Best Democracy Money Can Buy.

Palast is one of the country's foremost experts on voter fraud and the many other ways that elections are rigged – almost always by Republicans -- so as to prevent the American people from having their votes (and political preferences) fully counted.

Palast explains how Donald Trump, his Republican Party and their agents will try to steal the 2020 presidential election from the American people at the ballot box. Palast also warns that the Democratic Party's leadership will try to stop Senator Bernie Sanders by sabotaging the vote in the upcoming California primary.

He also details the connections between Roger Stone, the 2000 Florida presidential election "recount" fiasco, and Donald Trump.

Chauncey DeVega continues to warn the public about the dangers of the "hope peddlers" who keep lying to the American people and the world that somehow everything will somehow be alright when America returns to "normal" after Trump and his regime are forced out of power. Unfortunately, the power of the "hope peddlers" is great and Chauncey shares an email from one of the sad souls who has been entranced by their foul spell.

Chauncey also cheers on the new heavyweight boxing champion "The Gypsy King" Tyson Fury while also being very upset that more people are not going to the theater to watch the wonderful new movie The Photograph.

Vince Houghton is the historian and curator of the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC. He is also the host and creative director of the Museum's podcast, SpyCast. His new book is Nuking the Moon: And Other Intelligence Schemes and Military Plots Left on the Drawing Board.

Houghton explains how the Cold War spawned fantastical science fiction-like weapons programs and plans by the United States government and the Pentagon such as atomic bomb-powered spacecraft, nuking the moon, psychic soldiers with the powers of telekinesis and mind control, and cyborg cats and other animals. Houghton also shares his thoughts on Russia's new "wonder weapons" such as doomsday submarine drones and hypersonic nuclear-powered cruise missiles.

And it appears that Donald Trump was not so crazy in his suggestion about using nuclear weapons to deflect or perhaps even neutralize hurricanes.

Chauncey DeVega reflects on another crazy week in TrumpWorld which saw the Republicans declare Trump a king in the Senate, and his deranged State of the Union Speech which was an amazing and great television spectacle. He is the author of eleven books, including The Left Hand of God and Jewish Renewal: A Path to Healing and Transformation. His most recent book is Revolutionary Love.

Rabbi Lerner reflects on what it means to be a truth-teller and moral human being who has fought for human rights and dignity for more than five decades. Rabbi Lerner also offers a vision for saving America from the evils of Trumpism and other cruelty based upon what he describes as "revolutionary love" and "radical empathy". And Rabbi Lerner warns that the Democratic Party and too many liberals and progressives are unable to connect with white working class people because of elite condescension and "political correctness".

Chauncey DeVega keeps trying to help the American people understand the dire threat posed to the country and the world by the "hope peddlers" who continue to downplay the existential danger represented by Donald Trump's regime and his foot soldiers. Harvey J. Kaye is the Ben & Joyce Rosenberg Professor of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay.

He is the author of many books including The American Radical, Are We Good Citizens?; Thomas Paine and the Promise of America; and The Fight For The Four Freedoms: What Made FDR And The Greatest Generation Truly Great.

Professor Kaye explains how the history of American democracy is, at its core, a radical project that can rejuvenate and empower the American people to resist and defeat Donald Trump and his authoritarian movement in the present.

He also details how the American people can create alliances across the color line in pursuit of shared class interests that can defeat the gangster capitalists and other members of the plutocracy and moneyed classes.

In addition, Professor Kaye makes a provocative claim that the Democratic Party must embrace the history of FDR by nominating a true progressive candidate such as Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren if they are to continue to exist as a unified major political party in the 21st century.

Professor Kaye also sounds the alarm: the American democratic experiment will likely not survive if Donald Trump is reelected in 2020.

She is the author of numerous books including an upcoming project on authoritarianism and political strongmen. Ben-Ghiat is also a regular contributor to CNN, The Atlantic, and The Huffington Post.

Professor Ben-Ghiat explains how Donald Trump is continuing to wear down America's democratic institutions – and the public – to a point where authoritarian rule will be accepted as the new normal. Ben-Ghiat also warns how Trump leads a personality cult, which in keeping with how authoritarian regimes have historically taken power, is consuming the American government.

And Professor Ben-Ghiat predicts that Donald Trump is still waiting for the moment when he can declare a national emergency and fully take power by suspending the Constitution and the rule of law.
