Paul Mason is a journalist, writer, film-maker and public speaker.

He is the author of six books, including Postcapitalism.

Mason writes a weekly column for the New Statesman, and contributes to the Guardian, Freitag and Le Monde Diplomatique. He is a frequent guest on opinion-forming TV and radio shows, including BBC Newsnight, DemocracyNow! BBC Politics Live and BBC Question Time.

Mason was also economics editor at both BBC Newsnight and Channel 4 News.

Paul Mason warns that the Democratic Party and the country's "left" and "progressives" in the United States are not equipped to resist Trump and the Republican's fascist assault on democracy because they are still in denial about the intractable levels of hostility and violence being marshaled against them.

Mason also explains the role of libido, violence, and other emotions in fascism and why such an ideology is so appealing to Trumpists and other fascist-authoritarians. As diagnosed by Paul Mason, the West is ill-equipped to confront Trumpism and the Global Right because of a naïve commitment to normal politics and a belief – contrary to the facts and realities of Realpolitik – that compromise is somehow possible with fascists and other authoritarians.

Chauncey DeVega shares new polling data and research about Trump's hidden voters and how there has been a large increase these last few weeks in registration among white "working-class" male voters – his most important base of support. Chauncey also highlights the power of "unreason", which compels Trump's voters to support him and the danger such a delusional way of thinking represents for democracy and the country's future -- whatever the outcome on Election Day next week.

Robert P. Jones is the CEO and Founder of PRRI and a leading scholar and commentator on religion, culture, and politics. He is the author of the acclaimed book The End of White Christian America. His new book is White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity.

Jones reflects on the relationship between racism and white supremacy in White Christianity and the Age of Trump. Jones also explains how the lie that Christianity is somehow "race neutral" and "colorblind" does the work of right-wing politics and of sustaining social inequality along the color line in the United States and around the world. Ep. 297: President Joe Biden's First 100 Days and a Return to Normalcy for the American People Aug 17, 2020

Simon Rosenberg is president of the New Democrats Network and the New Policy Institute, a liberal-think tank based in Washington, DC. He has served as a senior advisor to the Democratic Party at the highest levels and has worked in two presidential campaigns, including a senior role in the 1992 Clinton "War Room".

In 2018, Rosenberg was a senior advisor to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee where he helped to craft the strategy which resulted in the Democratic Party winning 41 seats in the House of Representatives.

Simon Rosenberg shares his thoughts on what issues should be prioritized during the first 100 days of a Joe Biden presidency. Rosenberg also explains how Donald Trump does not intend to win the 2020 presidential election but rather to steal it and then engage in a full-on political crackdown against any American who dares to oppose him.

Rosenberg also suggests that Donald Trump is being mentored by Vladimir Putin and other authoritarians -- and then acting on that tutelage as he unleashes his federal secret police in places such as Portland and conspires in plain sight to keep the American people from voting by various means including interfering with the U.S. mail.

Chauncey DeVega recounts this past week's breathless assault on American democracy by Donald Trump and his regime which includes abominations such as destroying the United States Postal Service to keep the American people from voting against the Great Leader and Mad King as well as a Putin-inspired performance where Trump blackmailed the country by de facto trying to defund Social Security and Medicare in exchange for a second term in office.

Chauncey also continues his commitment to public health by sharing a new article from Scientific American which explains why too many men do not wear masks. Why? The mask is the "condom of the face" and one is a "threat" to such pathetic men's fragile ans weak "masculinity".
